@photometheus it was an interesting discovery during my trouble shooting efforts. That is due to the fact there is no disconnector in the RDB. Unlike pretty much every other hammer fired firearm.

You have won a Subscription "If you can keep it, sir." At first, I didn't like your goofy looks (LOL), but you have a good grasp on how machines work and you seem to do cool things with your talent. Just bought a new RDB at a very good price; so I wish I'd seen your videos... b4! 1st thing I'll check on my RDB is to see if the Firing Pin has a spring. That could explain some of your issues. I am also very curious how KT get's away w/o a "Disconnector" device on the Trigger Group? Good Luck 2 yah.

I appreciate this video. I had a couple Keltecs probably 15 years ago, a P10 I think, there first 9mm and then a sub2000. I sold them eventually but they served their purpose. I've been contemplating the RDB and RFB, and I might still get them, but it's honest experience like this that helps me make decisions.

Thank you very much for the follow up video. Forum discussions about the RDB have often focused on exactly what you experienced. The culprit for the burst fire has long suspected to be the free floating firing pin. Originally Kel Tec had a spring on the firing pin but inexplicably got rid of it and it was no longer available as a parts purchase and their service department would make a point of telling you it wasn't available. Seeing the spring on your firing pin sent me to the Kel Tec website to see if a spring was again available. Curiously, the firing pin for the RDB Survival is not presently available, much less a spring for it. I am hopeful that means that they will be offering soon the firing pin and spring that you have. Again, thanks for sticking with the issue. I do think that you would be doing a service if you carefully ran a few mags through this thing to test their fixes. If that spring doesn't take care of the problem then there is no hope for the RDB.

I spoke to Kel Tec today and they are producing a revised RDB with a firing pin spring which I gathered necessitated a new bolt configuration. The new spring and firing pin won't work in the "Gen 2" bolts that housed the springless firing pin. Just as you did, if you want the new bolt/spring/firing pin, you need to send in the firearm. So, I'm thinking we need a Part 3 of this series where you take out your recently repaired RDB and see if the repairs took care of the problems. I'll stay tuned. Thanks.

Here's a guy that had that happen. But, listening to his story, Sig replaced it with a different model since he no longer trusted the 320 line. Just like I no longer trusted the RDB line. Something that I asked of Kel-Tec that they were unwilling to do. I requested either a different model (not an RDB) or that they purchase the firearm back from me. They did neither, instead claiming their was nothing wrong with the firearm. Again, it was not just the nature of the malfunctions, but how Kel-Tec decided to handle the situation. Here's his video with the P320: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eHae0Zhrpra_is4.htmlsi=rOs9IC1R7100l50C

@@ICanDoItMyself I wouldn't own anything Sig. They are worse than Keltec is that they essentially release engineering samples as firearms to the public and either work out the kinks as complains mount, or just quietly drop/replace the line of firearms. Also, I was serious about buying your Keltec. Insta was the only way I saw to contact you privately. Reach out and we can go though an FFL.

I have a brand new Keltec RDB (less then 500 rounds) and experienced the exact same issues as you did! first it started burst firering a couple of times and then i charged my weapon with the safety on and on releasing the charging handle it fired a round downrange!!! i live in europe so sending it back is no option for me... im also not comfortable with selling this weapon second hand knowing it is a danger to the next owner and anyone around him. its a real shame because i had high hopes for this rifle :(

I've been getting a lot of flack about the rifle, the malfunctions and how I sold all my Kel-Tecs. A lot of stupid comments like "user error" or that I don't know what I'm doing. Irritating. Maybe you could convince Kel-Tec to send you a new, updated bolt carrier. The one with the firing pin spring. But, judging how they handled it with me, I wouldn't hold my breath. Definitely make the attempt!

you should have taken them to a small claims court yourself, you don't need a lawyer to do that. They would however see that it would probably cost them more in attorney fees than to fight the case and just settle for the amount of the firearm. theoretically ofc INAL

Didn't you know YT has created the most self-proclaimed experts in the history of man!?👌 When the weapon slammed fired and yes, your finger was OFF the trigger, that was a reality check! I've owned a few different Keltecs and never experienced any failures! Thanks for taking the time to do the update!✌️

I appreciate that. I'm thinking of doing a Part 3. Someone brought up the issues with the Sig P320 discharging in holsters. I found this video. If Kel-Tec took care of me in the same way Sig took care of this guy, I wouldn't have ever made either video. He did not feel safe with the P320 line, so Sig sent him a different firearm from a different model line. Something Kel-Tec was unwilling to do. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eHae0Zhrpra_is4.htmlsi=RAGvZyvzdgwd0-rS

Only malfunctions I experienced were with the RDB Survival. None with the standard Pistol grip version of the RDB. And no malfunctions with any other Kel-Tec platform. (Kel-Tecs that I owned: RDB Survival, standard RDB, RFB, SU-16, KS7, SUB2000, and P17 for reference)

@Rich4Rights checking, standby. To be honest, the burst fire sucked and was a nuisance. The firing when I charged it, finger off the trigger and safety on, I'm out. If Kel-Tec had offered me a different model in their lineup, I NEVER would have made these videos.

thanks for sharing. people love to (smugly) trot out "user error" for anything they can, or in some cases I saw "well it works for me" as if that invalidates your experience. there are too many companies out there these days to stay with one that sold you a lemon and then tried to tell you that you actually had lemonade and selling the RDB after a video talking about what a POS it was, it COULD open you up to potential liability >_>

I'm honestly not a big fan of the adjustable gas system. To me, it's just another failure point that's designed for like 10% of shooters who run silencers/suppressors or oddball ammo. To me, budget rifles are for the range only. If I could only have 1 gun for the end of the world, I'm taking an SKS or M1 Carbine over a Keltec or another modern budget option. The RDB IMO should be a $700-$800 rifle and not $1100-$1200
