Great video but did I miss the most common problem.."Extended Cranking "!! I haven't figured it out yet 3 fuel pumps later...yes avoid the 2007.. the oil consumption in mine actually stopped after replacing the newly designed valve cover..I also did a lifter replacement but that was almost 10yrs and really no issues except the extended cranking. I just forgot about fixing it..Great for snow

    1. Most common (and the cheapest) fail about the 4wd is the ground point on frame, located on drivers side in the front section. I had the "Service 4WD" as well and before you all go nuts on expensive repairs, simply unbolt this wire loom, clean both mating surfaces and reattach the grounding cables and done! these transfer cases are so heavyduty, you have to be an absolute idiot to wreck it. :P Bought mine almost a year ago, so far, the only bad thing is the poor fuel filling due to the vent solenoid... I'd add that those early 2000s 4 runners are like the Tacomas, full cult following, last forever and tons of demand to own one (demand = higher return selling it). Considering those points, I'd suggest selling the 4runner private party and then using that cash to buy a suburban. That way you keep your economy commuter (to offset the fuel you're gonna buy for the big girl) and also so you have a new utility vehicle, this one that will carry a dozen people, or basically be a truck that the bed contents are all kept inside...you can load up your next roadtrip with bicycles, kayaks, luggage and even a canoe inside of the suburban AND tow a boat! So keep the prius is my suggestion.😉

I've got a 2012 Tahoe LTZ and have had the dash crack, blend door actuator fail, engine mount break (fixed that permanently - check out Atomic F&P for a poly mount) and use a Range AFM disabler since 96K. No oil consumption issues, I run high mileage full synthetic and I'm about to hit 160K. Aside from those fairly minor issues that I fixed all on my own, it has been a very reliable vehicle. I've had multiple offers from individuals and dealers to buy it (some are a little tough to turn down) but I can't bring myself to get rid of it. Love my Tahoe. I'll keep it until it costs more to fix than it's worth. It's worth mentioning the engine mount breaking issue and that the AC condenser will fail around 150K, which is pretty typical for basically every car out there. Still, nothing major.

08 Suburban LTZ and 2010 Tahoe. Tahoe complete trans failure at 115,000 miles. Replaced and upgraded for 6500$. Suburban has had 16 standard lifters, new camshaft, oil pump and timing change installed during active fuel management delete. Sent Board off to be reprogrammed. Suburban runs strong. Had to replace drivers side engine mounts on both. Exhaust manifold bolt heads snap off. Especially drivers side rear bolt. Replaced drive shafts on both due to rust and out of balance producing violent shaking at 79 mph. Also included is shocks/struts, brake system overhaul and heavy maintenance. You either keep them or sell them, move on or never give up. You have to be committed to these.

Trying to help and not pick apart your content. With that said, it is portrayed that the flex fuel has to do with the active fuel management system. Flex fuel system stands for the types of fuel you can run such as pure ethanol, or any mix. The Active Fuel Management is the deactivation of 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders, changing constantly as demand is needed. Great concept that really does work, that is if you have all new components. The time goes on and the materials used are not tough enough to take the abuse of going and stopping repeatedly. 8 lifters have springs that will go bad. 8 lifters are standard lifters. The spring lifters will go bad. Many poor materials were used in these trucks, from the interior/exterior to the drive train. They can be resolved you just need the desire and money to do so.

No biggest problem is the faulty OEM Torque converter and trans cooler. I replaced my Torque converter with a heavy duty PDQ and added a Tru-Kool 4k transcooler. The oem runs to hot 190-220°. Now runs 110 and 150ish° towing in hot Cali. Warning change your OEM torque converter before it comes apart and destroys your transmission!

Stay away from the 2007 Tahoes. I purchased one new and never used it for towing or plowing. The transmission went on it three times. with less than 36,000 miles When I brought it in to Chevrolet dealer there were many other Tahoes and Suburbans there with the same problem. My friend owned the dealership and after the second repair Chevrolet gave me a new transmission under the GM Goodwill program. The same thing happened with the new unit 14,000 miles later. The issue each time was the Sprag that caused the issue. I had a 2005 Suburban for two years with no issues and three K5 Blazers from the 70's and 80's. Never any issues. PS my friend told me if true they went to a Cadillac transmission in 2008 and no more problems. I have owned many Corvettes from the 60's and early 70's and a new one in 2009 no issues to this day.
