I don't recall ever seeing a trial with so many side bars / starting late / finishing early before. The jurors must be so fed up already. I cant decide whether the judge is not very knowledgeable or is desperately trying to give the defendant a fair trial. Although, he may just be terrified of the defence attorney 🐂🐶

Yes he’s being cautious, but that’s not JUST caution we’re seeing. This is the weakest judge I’ve ever seen. He’s intimidated by the defense. Particularly by the loud abrasive one. And the fact that he resides in a liberal state, I’d venture to say he’s also playing it safe because he’s afraid of upsetting the LGBTQ community. And by weakness, I’m not referring to his quiet, soft spoken nature. The judge in Alex Murdaugh’s trial was VERY calm and soft spoken, but he was a STRONG no-nonsense judge that everyone respected.

@@Vmurph I see, I hadn't considered the LGB part at all. Probably because they are older women. I agree about the AM judge, he was excellent. I read last week in the comments of the disabled girl being left in the hot car trial that the judge is retiring. He will be missed.

Watch the Zachariah Anderson case if you want to see what true court insanity looks like. All "sidebars" were done in front of the jury and it was bruuuutal.

I love this defense argument. Very sharp, very specific and an interesting constitutional angle. This is a great example of the best part of consequential trial argument and procedure. I’m only 15 minutes in, and I’m pretty sure the judge is not going to buy it but it’s a super effort!

This is the trial... idk if they mean the trial will extend into next week, but this is in fact the trial... They're bringing in and out the jury throughout so I'm unsure what a jury would be doing there but for it being the trial...

Is Massachusetts not a State?? Why does the judge keep referring to the prosecution as “the commonwealth” instead of “the state”?

I’m curious whether there were any attempts at negotiations prior to trial. It took the state three trials to get a conviction, which indicates the case is not a slam dunk. But every jury is different. She’s already served about 7 years (2 years in custody until after the second mistrial and 5 years between 2016 and 2021). Manslaughter would be a decent result for both sides here
