Only thing scarier than a Tornado, is a Tornado hidden by darkness. You can hear it, you can feel it, but you have no idea where exactly it is..

idk if this is a dumb question but I swear I’ve never seen a tornado in the day with lightning strikes how come there’s always lightning when there’s one occurring at night

About three years ago we were woken at about 1:00am here in northern Illinois by the sound of the warning sirens. Nothing scarier.

Imagine hearing tornado sirens and the tv yelling at you to shelter immediately and not knowing where the tornado is only to look up at the moment lightening flashes briefly illuminating a massive tornado directly in front of you. That's absolute nightmare fuel

That looks straight outta a horror film. There should be more lighting along those roadways especially at night..even though drivers may be able to hear the tornado and fill the gusts from afar, it might still be difficult to pinpoint its location much less tell which direction it's moving in without any light to guide you.

All street lights would do is blind you the lightning is actually your friend in this scenario it illuminates it just for a brief second so you know which direction not to travel

@@fryousocool686 Actually, cavemen weren’t in America. So probably native north Americans or Spanish colonizers were the first ones to see them. I mean, tornados are in other parts of the world too, but not as much, not even a fraction.

Tornadoes are one of the closest things we'll ever get to love craft type horror, especially one illuminated briefly by lightning, hurricanes are just big storms, whereas tornadoes you can actually see their form, slowly but surely coming towards you, lightning and death riding the sound like a freight train, howling wind, the grass flattened by the undying wind. Something even scarier than a tornado is its mother storm, the supercell, I saw one as a kid, looking up and seeing an all consuming rotating maw of clouds that had just bombarded us with hail lighting and wind.

You’ve never experienced a Hurricane. It’s the worst not because of its wind, because of the Storm Surge. Water is so destructive it’s scary.

@@boogitybear2283I’ve personally witnessed both… hurricane Michael in 2018 and an F3 tornado here in TX last year. As much as I hated the hurricane, the tornado was by far way scarier…. You can literally see it pick and choose its destructive path and mind you this was only an F3…hurricane felt just like a strong thunderstorm with excessive rainfall

​@boogitybear2283 hurricanes are worse. We all agree on that, but visually speaking, tornadoes look scarier. Hurricanes just feel like giant superstorms tornadoes are something that would be much harder to explain. A giant funnel cloud that sucks things up into the sky is something out of stranger things or HP Lovecraft. Even Trevor Henderson would come up with something like that I'm from Florida
