In the two seasons since he was let go, the 49ers are 7-25. In the four seasons, Harbaugh was on the job in San Francisco, the 49ers were 44-19, went to three straight NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl, and never had a losing season. Of course, Harbaugh’s successors, Tomsula and Kelly, didn’t have the talent on their rosters that Harbaugh did, because Baalke has whiffed on so many recent drafts. Bad drafts, retirements, injuries, and free-agent defections have left the roster thin of impact talent. It was clearly living in the Bay Area and reading the local sportswriters, the onus of responsibility laid square on Baalke's shoulders because he would not allow Harbaugh to have any control over who was to stay and who was to go. As Tony Manfred of Business Insider wrote in December of 2014, the 49ers were taking an enormous gamble by allowing Harbaugh - who’s won at every stop of his coaching career -- to leave because he had a fractious relationship with Baalke and York. The smart move would have been to bring in a different GM and work on relationship building. That's not my distortion, I'm sure you can find the Business Insider issue that Manfred wrote online somewhere. By the way, Baalke was gone after the 2016 season (thank god), and not until Lynch and Shanahan came along were the Niners able to bounce back.

@Nik Goj It is strange that ever since 2003 when Ohio State got lucky and beat Miami in the national title game, they get all these great 4 and 5 star recruits every year, no matter who their coach is, they win. I'm not trying to be a hater, but it is strange that before 2003, they hadn't won a national title in I believe 35 years, and they never could beat Michigan, but now they are title contenders pretty much every year lol. Maybe before 2003, they weren't paying the players enough money 🤣🤣. I would almost be willing to bet my balls that if Ryan Day was the Head Coach at say Michigan or Cincinnati, he would not have improved those programs, he didn't even improve Ohio State, he just maintained the program these last couple years.

@@WeFreestyleForever oh I don’t disagree with you. I think a lot of it was on the coaches as well. Their recruiting style, not coaching them up properly, ect. I’m it appears they’ve learned from that and they’re getting hard working players that want to be there and be better. Look at Hutchinson compared to rashan Gary. Came in expected to terrorize QBs like Aiden did and he wasn’t hungry enough. He was too worried about his own logo than being better. Those first few years Michigan was recruiting with hype alone and they did get some really talented players but they were mentally weak. I hope they continue to get 4 and some 5 star players now but ultimately they need tough as nails players that fit their system.

True, but we knew the wins against TTUN couldn't continue forever. But they earned this one. Kicked our asses in the trenches up and down the field. Our Buckeyes mailed it in, and played like crap. I do hope this renews the rivalry a bit, and also motivates our Buckeyes to get it together. Now let's go Blue; go kick Iowa's ass and represent the B1G East well.

Harbaugh finally getting the credit he deserves. Even tho he hasn't beat OSU until now wev had great years under him. 10+ Win seasons 4 times. Legacy making stuff by Harbaugh. Even the Michigan fan base lost faith in him but he never let that stop him. His resilience is what will make him one of the best college coaches in the future. Dudes resume speaks it all jist needed a Ohio win and to make the playoffs and the bigten world will turn up side down.

I am good sport and accept defeat without throwing shade. But, when you all go to talking as if UM is the more dominant program after winning once in 9 years I have to speak up.

OSU was a well oiled machine when Harbaugh came to Michigan, he took a disaster of a Football team in 2015 and went toe to toe with OSU in 2016. OSU didn't have to rebuild in almost 20 years, Michigan had to rebuild 3x.

I’m happy for harbaugh. Yes it’s been tough to watch M football these past few years… but he didn’t quit on Michigan football. I don’t care how much money he makes… he’s still the type of coach every team wants in their corner. This season could set precedence for the next decade. Big win against OSU.

He's not the most dynamic speaker, that's for sure. This year's team has a chemistry that's been missing before. Not sure if it's the player mix, the new coaches, or both, but it's there.

OSU had 19 players not available on Saturday due to injury or other protocols including 2 defensive starters. I tried to find out how many UM was missing but couldn't find anything. Anybody know the answer to this?

I like the direction the team and credit coach for making necessary adjustments but he’s had an ugly past vs his two rivals. A big ten win will take the nasty taste of the msu loss away and a NC would take the sting away from falling short the past several seasons.

ND grad here - I've followed college fb since the mid-70s and have probably seen more eps of *Michigan Replay* than everyone here combined. Think before you talk. Might want him gone if he continues to win. Watch some of the games from previous years since he got here. He is talking about OSU being dominant before he got to Michigan, and OSU players thinking they are somehow owed victories because of who they play for. This win will change the rivalry for the next decade..

@@reidjewett8226 I agree. All those players work hard. Harbaugh point is OSU has been a recruiting powerhouse for the last decade (at least), and has had a steady program for the most part. A lot of asshole OSU fans don’t realize how difficult it is for a team to break through that kind of consistency. I think this win will rebalance the rivalry personally, if not shift it towards Michigan. I really don’t think Day is a very good head coach in all honesty. Urban was a much better head coach.

All those boosters and money but they had to borrow a microphone from my high schools press box.

"legacy" win against a team hes 1-6 against 😂 More like finally you do your job that we paid you to do in the first place. Imagine paying a coach almost $100 million to go 1-6 against your rivals 😂. OSU has almost its entire team of freshman returning next year, Michigan is losing anyone who was worth anything, 3/4 of the offensive line, RB, both DEs...all gone. Michigan acting like this is something that's gonna happen every year 😂. I guess it's true, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Not enough credit to Coach Harbaugh, he had to build this program back up. Wasn’t handed anything, had some shit breaks in this game. You can take a horse to water but can’t make them drink it, those players drank it all today. It’s a players game and the coach did an excellent job. No more of that dumb ass talk of firing this man. My how the standards of UM fans have gone down. One Big Ten championship in the last 20 years or so, one BCS bowl appearance and subsequent ass beating on the national stage, a coach that is 1-5 in bowl games, a coach that got AP COY but was NOT able to get COY in his OWN conference (Mel Tucker - MSU )🍑, a coach that is 1-7 against Ohio State🌹, a coach that is 3-4 against MSU. Yet all we hear area raves, excuses about the refs (loss to MSU), excuses about how poorly they played in the 🍊bowl. Michigan fans, just take your precious BT 🏆 go home and revel in your past because you are not competing now days for God’s sake.
