In the 10th and final episode of our Watch in the Box video series, we take a look at the Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller with D-Blue dial - aka the “James Cameron.” First introduced at Baselworld 2014 as a tribute to the Deepsea Challenge expedition to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the “James Cameron” brings a fresh and striking dial design to Rolex’s ultimate diver’s watch.
Featuring a black Cerachrom bezel, and a 44mm stainless steel case, the D-Blue dial in the "James Cameron" version fades from blue to black, representing the way that light disappears at greater depths underwater.
In 2018, the Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller received a major upgrade in the form of the new-generation caliber 3235 movement, which offers an increased power reserve of 70 hours. Additionally, the watch received a new reference number, changing from 116660 to 126660, however, the new version retained the same 44mm case diameter as its predecessor.
