Watch How These BRILLIANT Interrogation Tactics Cracked Col. Russell Williams Into Confessing Murder

Watch how these brilliant secret interrogation tactics cracked this guy, Colonel Russell Williams, into finally confessing his underwear murders. Find what they are next.
Colonel Russell Williams was the 46-year-old the Canadian Air Force pilot who for 3 years had broken into 82 neighbors’ homes stealing women’s underwear and photographing himself with it on. However, he escalated his crimes from breaking into homes and stealing underwear to assaulting female victims in their homes and eventually two murders. Russell Williams was given two life sentences for first degree murder, and many more years for his assaults and breaking and entering.
Russell was an up and coming high ranking military officer and even occasionally flew for the British Royal Family, which was a helped him get away with this with this for so long.
At this point when Russell walks into the police station, he believes he’s mostly being questioned about his neighbor because the police had mistakenly arrested his next door neighbor as their prime suspect; however, now unbeknownst to Russell, the police have tire track evidence that pointed right at him. So, in what many call a brilliant interrogation, they finally got Russell Williams to confess to the murders, but how did they do it? We’re going to breakdown police interrogation tactics, along with analyzing Russell’s body language, to finally reveal their interrogation secrets of how they cracked a high-ranking military officer into finally confessing.
Give this video a thumbs up if you found this video insightful, so I know to make more of these interrogation breakdowns.
Although Russell received over two life sentences, he will actually be eligible for parole after spending only 25 years in prison. So in the comments: What punishment do you think Russell should have gotten? Let everyone know in the comments below.

I see that some of you still buy into Smyth's act that the evidence was strong. It wasn't: boot prints aren't like fingerprints and Smyth just had a photocopy, with no possibility, nor expertise, of examining the prints in detail. Similarly, the tyres weren't uncommon and Smyth didn't have an expert examination of the tyre tracks either. *Smyth's brilliancy is that he managed to convince Russ that the evidence was much stronger than it was and managed to get Russ to confess instead of requesting a lawyer.* If Russ had requested a lawyer, he would've had time to think and come up with an explanation why the boot prints and tyre tracks were there, ex.: "I heard a woman screaming and drove into the field (tyre tracks) then ran to try to rescue her (boot prints)".

Hes not going free in 25 years genius. EVERYONE IN CANADA is eligible for parole after 25 years....it actually makes the prisoners behave much better, they murder less people in prison. They aren't going to parole a serial killer lol. Many modern societies realized it is unethical to sentence someone to life without parole. It's just a formality really. Psychologically it gives them a reason to live, thus improving behavior in prison, but Russell will never be paroled, nearly all of people with life sentenced aren't paroled, or are only paroled at the end of their life. There are rare circumstances where someone who killed might be paroled, depending on the situation of the crime and if they are rehabilitated. Serial killers can not be rehabilitated lol, everyone knows that

No. Absolutely not. Its hard to watch for many reasons, that included. Its an uncomfortable feeling to be half-empathizing with a fucking demon person, but it makes sense to. I actually garnered a giant fear of like, social situations like this. I used to have horrible nightmares of everyone turning on me. Friends hating me. Family disowning me. It was one of my biggest fears. Of course one of the people from my past decided to try to ruin my life for a perceived social slight that didn’t happen. Went around and convinced half of my world i was a monster for falling in love with the love of my life… who he happened to covet, possessively. I got to live my nightmare. I know the exact feeling of falling off that building. Feeling like everyone thinks you are a monster. I heard a quote from Louis CK (I don’t condone his actions). He said “you don’t want to know who your real friends are”. After everything that happened all the people he lost, he was expressing how much it hurt to realize how few people and who they really actually are that actually love you unconditionally. Absolutely everyone, without exception, could have this happen and everyone has people in their lives they believe are on their side or love them like you love them and would be irreparably hurt, depleted and broken painful hole in your chest where a heart once was… The only way to avoid it is not doing anything anyone doesn’t like. If you do that, you will end up with absolutely nothing. But be extremely mindful of who you piss off. And well obviously, don’t do disgusting monsterous shit like Russ here and you will almost certainly be fine.

It’s also very impressive that the interrogator got Russell to confess while the police only had circumstantial evidence (which was not definitive proof Russell was responsible for Jessica Lloyd’s disappearance. The potential links to Russell were found near her house) against him. Although the tire tracks matched the tires on Russell’s Nissan Pathfinder SUV, that doesn’t even prove that the type of SUV Russell owned made those tracks. Even though the footprints made by the male perpetrator in the snow matched the boots Russell wore to the police station, it’s not like the type of boots Russell wore were rare enough to the point that no other males who drove SUV’s with the same type of tires could have owned and worn those boots could have been the actual criminal. The key thing that interrogator Jim Smyth did to push Russell towards his confession to his crimes was provide legitimate reasoning about what would be in it for Russell to confess up front instead of fighting the charges in court. Most people who have committed crimes that would give them life sentences if they are caught usually believe that not confessing about those crimes to an interrogator is the better option for them (because they know confessing means they will be locked up for life, whereas if they don’t confess they at least have a chance of getting away or receiving a lower sentence for a lesser charge) without receiving an actual explanation as to why confessing is better for them

In Canada we no longer have a death penalty. Personally I like to think about him being in prison and feeling humiliated. Not only his fall from authority and status but primarily.... This case was so famous and followed by the public that everyone has seen or at the very least heard of the pictures of him wearing women's underwear. Not only do prisions have Tv's but the guards likely have Tv's at home, new inmates likely saw it on tv and in the news. He could not escape the humiliation and I smile thinking about how all the tough dangerous inmates will treat him

I think he's truly concerned about his wife. Empathy is complicated. You may not feel empathy towards certain people/situations, but you may feel empathy towards people who are close to you. Also it seems like he's preoccupied with people's opinions of him, so maybe he is worried about how he will appear to his wife.

I don't think that he gives a sh*t about his wife: I think he's concerned by how she'll react for two - interlinked - reasons: 1) As you say, he's concerned by how he'll appear to his wife (self image - crucial to psychopaths) 2) In his sick mind, his (normal, positive) life with his wife cancelled out all the deviant, negative he did. That's how psychopaths think.

"The expert in tire impressions and the expert in foot impressions" ... That was an underrated tactic because they don't exist! Footprints are no where near evidence as fingerprints, but in Canada, it's legal to lie during interrogations. The interrogator said an expert checked them down the hall, when it was really just the guy who printed the photo.
