It's a lock. All locks can be defeated. A lock screams "NOT YOUR PROPERTY, DO NOT TAKE", not "steal me". This applies to all locks, not just expensive locks. Expensive locks can be broken/picked as well.

Yes but they will need time. I have two (good heavy duty) locks on my bike and a simple bolt cutter is not going to do the job, you would need an angle grinder. They will just leave my bike and try an easier one.

All the smart thieves saw that bike lock and thought, "Nope. I ain't falling for that."

Taking a high dollar bike and putting it in high crime areas, locking it up with a thin cable, well some dolled up reporter runs around seems like entrapment to me and should be illegal. It's like dropping a dollar and expecting no one to pick it up, than arresting whoever takes it.

Looks like the tiniest dollar store cable lock there is lol Clearly she’s never owned a bike before - I wouldn’t even use a cable lock on an $100 bike; a entry level $25 U lock is the absolute bare minimum. Best defense is to part your bike next to someone with a cable lock.
