I believe I read it’s that much because each and every stone in that 18 mil watch is of high clarity, cut and color. And also every single stone comes with and individual GIA certification.

I will say, the $18,000,000 has probably several hundred diamonds of a very high quality and probably took several years to find ones that all had the same color and quality. Those diamonds could easily be 10,000-30,000 a piece. That principal cost plus the time and effort to find the rest of the diamonds, etc. edit: Just want to add that most jewelry that is covered in diamonds, the cost of the diamonds are usually fairly cheap in comparison. Usually anywhere from $15-150 per diamond
