I don't believe so. The map was never designed in a way to suppport helicopters, and the physics are too primitive for it to pass as a player vehicle. It was just easiest for them to make the helicopter into a vehicle that the player should never be able to access.

I can imagine that it was talked about, but I do not believe it was ever implemented in the game. As I said, the heli is only flyable for technical reasons, because it needed to be a vehicle to work. However, the helicopter archetype does not even support camera views. I had to add components from a car to get a working camera view on it.

Well think about the sniper. He is a passenger in the heli, and vehicles are the only thing that can hold passengers in the game. Vehicles also have support for AI, lights, etc. It makes the most sense to create it as a vehicle. Being able to control it is just an unintended side effect.

Oh, Deebz, I found a better spot by accident!!! You know the bug to get onto the mission area ontop of the merlaut hotel? Get a friend to get the police on him and hide inside the hotel. And then, you can get on top and the helicopter is at the PERFECT height every time. I gotten in twice by this method, imo easier than the bridge most times. However the heli floats a bit far sometimes....

This is very interesting, thanks for letting me know. Believe it or not, I've actually suspected that this place would work since about two weeks ago. A few friends and I were playing deathmatch (adverserial free roam) in the Merlaut, and one of my friends was camping in a room with the police chasing him. I died trying to get him, and when I respawned, I noticed a heli was holding position above him on the map. When I looked up to see it though, it wasn't there. This means that it could only have been at roof level. Thanks for confirming this for me, I will need to try it.

Yep. The story of this glitch is actually an interesting one too. I was wanting to surf on top of a helicopter, but didn't want to bother my friends with it. So I got a trainer, and attempted to teleport on top of one. Well, one of the things I tried was shooting the sniper, and then teleporting on top of it as it flew away. While doing this, I briefly saw the enter prompt by the doors. I attempted to do it in WD1 at first, but didn't have much luck because I didn't have the technique down. A few days later though, I was roaming around in WD2 with a friend, and remembered the glitch. We tried it at a crane, and the rest is history.

Yeah I got the glitch to work, accidentally flew high to the sky, but my friend and I had fun.

This video proves that Watch_Dogs is a unfinished game. Ubisoft assholes only care about the money and not on quality. This game had so much potential. Why didn't you take your sweet time?

Deebz__ It’s really just chance. Sometimes the AI will just sit there and sometimes the heli will glitch out and spaz around and crash your game.

It's strange how the helicopter has a high res texture, maybe some time in development you were able to control a helicopter

I was dicking around with a trainer one day (in a private free roam session, so I couldn’t be invaded), and decided to try teleporting on top of a helicopter to ride around. Well, one method I tried was shooting the sniper, and then teleporting up. When I did this, I very briefly saw the E button appear by the driver door. I said to myself “no way...” and tried it in a more legitimate scenario. The rest is history.

*EDIT:* Well, it appears to be that anything is possible! I did this on console (ps3), however the controls were messed up. Took me two days, maybe first PS3 helicopter flight? Oh, idk if it matters, I did it on Bad Blood DLC. So it can be done there aswell! (maybe that's why controls were weird, they even changed the sniper skin!...) Also, any tips on doing this more consistently? Does my friend have to stay in a specific spot that usually does it under the bridge in the hole, and also- do I raise it while doing this?

Raising the bridge will only cause issues. The only real tip I can give you is that if the helicopter is too low, you can hack it. That will send it up above the bridge, and it will slowly come back down to where it was before when it recovers. You should have a window of opportunity to steal it then.

Yeah, I noticed. Since the helicopter doesn't avoid the bridge, usually it either gets it stuck to a point I can't climb it, or worse lags me to what I can describe as hell itself. But, I didn't know disrupting it cause it to go up! That's a pretty cool tip, thanks! However, I noticed most of the time it was either too high or uhh.... stuck in the air sometimes!!!! However, I found a cool trick aswell! If you go into any type of online session with someone and disconnect, the helicopter chasing him hovers in place. So I just got lucky and disconnected while the helicopter was at the very middle of the bridge, and with a little luck I managed to get inside. Though, I did notice the helicopter kept flying in a single direction and I couldn't control it. This could've been because of Bad Blood, I noticed in the DLC they changed the sniper aswell, but at the same time I kinda bugged the crap out of it, which could also lead to it being weird to fly. I'm definitely trying this again, although the gods have to in fact smile upon you for it to be at just the right spot where you can ACTUALLY get inside. Oh, one more thing I have to make sure, since I had a bit of trouble with this, sometimes I can't one shot the sniper and the police go after ME instead, does any weapon with a headshot kill him in one hit? This could've, again been by the DLC I was playing at the time. In there, the sniper model is changed to a beefy soldier instead of a law enforcer, so that might be the reason I had to literaly use a sniper rifle to one hit him easily :P

Yes, hacking the helicopter does make it go up too far to reach at first, but as I said, it will slowly go back down to where it was before you hacked it. You have a fairly decent window to enter it when it does this. Here is a video showing an example of this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d6CFl9yppczambw.html This clip was taken on the same day of this video tutorial. I just decided to use an alternate clip of entering the helicopter here, since it was more straightforward (which is why you can't hear my friend talking for that segment). As for headshots, they should always kill the sniper. I'm unfamiliar with the bad blood version, but I'd be surprised if that was changed.

Very interesting! Mind if I ask how you got the helicopter to go to that spot of the bridge? For me, when my friend is at the little hole area under the bridge, the helicopter goes to either a really good spot over the short part, or a really bad spot to the side. Is this pure luck getting it on top of the high end?

Not really. If it is unreachable even by hacking it upwards, just send it away and wait for another one. Patience and luck are everything with this glitch.

Your buddy will act as the bait for the police. The helicopter will hover over him, allowing you to reach it.

Not nessesarily. The helicopter was built as a vehicle for technical reasons, and it has common elements from other vehicles because it was built from the same template. Nothing in the files suggests that the heli was ever intended to be player controlled.

The controls are one of the common components shared between all vehicles, in a way. To allow the AI to control them, the heli’s movements are assigned to 4 axes. Forward/backward, up/down, left/right, and rotation. These axes are shared between all vehicles. Rotation is used for steering, up is used for accelerator, and forward/backward is used for motorcycle leaning. As a result, these things are controllable by players. Notable exceptions are the left/right controls, and the descend control. Left/right movement uses an axis that is never mapped out for players (at least in vehicles), and descend uses the inverted direction of the vertical axis. That direction is not used by players in vehicles, since brakes are a seperate control. However, accelerator uses the positive version of that axis, which is why you can make the heli go up and not down.

Watch dogs has 6 different multiplayer modes. 7 if you include the co-op mode in Bad Blood. One of those is an 8 player free roam lobby.

Nope, the only NPC in the helicopter is the sniper. Once you kill him, it will be enterable. Make sure you are not aiming when you press Y. You cannot enter vehicles when you are aiming. Other than that, I am not sure what else you could be doing wrong.

The helicopter itsef doesn’t glitch out of bounds, only your view does. You can still use it to reach places that are otherwise unreachable, if you play smart. There are some videos of PS4 players using the heli to reach skyscrapers.

I use my own custom mods, mainly for graphics. I also stripped the access codes for some exclusive weapons, which is how I have the MP-412 on PC. However, no mods were used to alter the results of the glitch in this video. It can be performed the same way on an unmodded game.

Probably, although the last gen consoles don’t have Online Free Roam. So you’d need to invade a friend who is already in one of these spots, and has the cops on him. Then you could steal it.

Watch Dogs is a current generation game, and it isn’t even 5 years old. It’s still fairly active to this day. Plenty of people still play much older games than this, so I’m not sure why this comes as a surprise to anyone. Maybe you and your friends don’t play it anymore, but there are more people in the world than that lol

@@dummiesboy don't listen to him. He's one of those people who would throw out there ps4 in the trash when the ps5 comes out.
