Justice Edwin Cameron told Parliament on Thursday that JICS was not told about the way in which the CCTV camera recorders were switched off prior to Thabo Bester's escape. It emerged on Wednesday that G4S knew about this in the immediate aftermath of the fire in Bester's cell and his alleged death. Cameron said JICS officials trawled through hours of footage to find a frame of two men running away in the moments after the fire.
