📌Good Afternoon friends 💗 A video important for those who are unsure of what type of Camper to Build out or purchase. In this video I break it down from my own experience. More video links are in the description box. 🚐

Yes, I agree, and so much money put into the van renovating. You can stand up better in the truck/camper, and do so much more with a truck then a van. More spacioius in my opinion.

We would say that one thing is that you have to get out of the camper part of a truck camper in case you need to leave quick (similar to a towable), rather than being able to access the cab from the living area. Besides that, you make very good points about the advantages of truck campers.

Thank you for pointing that out. I know that is a game changer for many people. In my particular camper I am able to fit through the pass through window and get into my truck in an emergency. I did a video a few years ago showing that. Although, the likelyhood of me doing that is minimal. :)

@@SimplyRVingGrowing up my mom and dad removed the windows and put in a padded pass through in our truck camper, we climbed through it often. It was very handy when on the road. We passed through ice cream, drinks and snacks as well as our bratty butts! I can remember my mom and dad getting knees and elbows to the head, then yelling at us to stop climbing through!

One thing to consider is a truck with a camper on board may have worse gas mileage than a lot of van builds. For me, the trade off is worth it for all the reasons you stated. I love my camper!

I don't think the gas mileage would be that much of a difference comparing it to the conveniences you get with a Truckcamper. Maybe save 1 or 2 miles per gallon in gas price. :)

Hi Lidia, great insight on the advantages of the truck camper. I’m glad you decided to stay with it rather than attempting a van conversion, here’s why: First off, you already have the camper. The renovation would cost a fraction of what would be involved with a build. Secondly, as you pointed out, the van is significantly smaller than the camper is, especially your van. Comparing the two is a little like comparing apples to oranges because they have a very different missions. Like everything, it comes down to personal preference. Cheers!

You are very right . The van may be a little more economical in gas mileage but not so much better that it would make me give up the comforts on the road I already have . :)

Thank you for the great insight into different vehicles. I wonder if any truck campers have pass throughs big enough for us slightly larger ladies to shimmy through to the cab? That could be a game changer. I appreciate your videos and look forward to them. Blessings to you and the pets.

Many newer models of Truckcampers are avoiding the window build to the cab of the truck. But if you do find a Truckcamper that has a window to the then the truck window must also be wide enough for you to fit through as well. :)

Shawn James and his wife is now going to do what you've been doing for years with your truck and camper on it to travel. Better for them and the dog when travelling.

I have recently seen many KZreadrs turning to the Truckcamper . In my opinion Vans are overrated and not very comfortable especially for 2 people or a person with a dog.

Makes sense to me if you can get a truck camper verses a van. I think that I would just get overwhelmed after awhile not being able to stand up in a van. I also think a used ambulance from what I’ve seen are a way to go if you’re able to purchase one of those. 🌲🎄🙏🏼

Yes! and those small buses used to transport medical patients are good option as well for a comfortable build without the loft bedroom.

Thank you for sharing your views on Truck Campers. Just wondering if you have to be careful which roads you go on in case there's a bridge you have to go under? Also, do you watch what you put or store up high, so it won't get top heavy , especially on smaller roads that can get curvy of even on windy days traveling? Thank you.

  • @SimplyRVing

I use a Garmin RV specific GPS when traveling. This type allows me to input my height so that the GPS redirects me if there are any tunnels or bridges below my height. I drive slower on curvy roads to be careful and on windy days too. I have had no issues being top heavy because I do not go off road much and if I do it has to be pretty flat solid terrain or I will avoid it.:)

If any of you guys want to get a van, get one. Get what works for you and your lifestyle. Just know they do make vans that are 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive. You can also get them lifted. Also in a van you automatically have 3 exits, the back door, front doors, and sliding door. You can create roof access if you feel you need 4 ways out. You can also get insulation for your van to help regulate temperature. You also can get a/c and fans built in. You can have every luxury comfor you want. My sliding door and my bump outs, and side window has a screen. Also you can have overhead cabinets in a van. I’m not sure what this lady is talking about. Watch other van lifers on KZread, some of them have nice rigs with high roofs that you can stand in. She’s acting like you can’t have any luxury in a van. 🤦🏻‍♀️

All that at what cost and still not be comfortable. Look at all the KZread channels ditching their expensive vans for Truckcampers. The proof is real life .

@@SimplyRVing I guess all the creators I watch are younger and like their vans. Who knows, when they get elderly too they may “ditch their vans”. I’m not a KZreadr, but I do own a camper van for recreational purposes and not living. So in a way I’m an old decrepit person too. But wouldn’t say all the big KZread channels have left van life. 🤷🏻‍♀️
