    @@fabricatorgeneralcaz534 I'm guessing they're referring to when you place your soldiers in the perfect position (ie you play with skill), have a 99% hit chance, but then they miss, then they panic, then they get killed, which happens plenty in X-COM haha. I honestly play the games with the mindset that I am the commander, not the soldiers - I'm just telling them what to do, but they're autonomous entities. I guess it comes down to how you roleplay the game!

    Some advice on engagement... Don't just run into a room with your whole squad. Scout it first from a safe distance with a specialised unit. Then stage the rest of your squad individually. Then hit hard FIRST to take the initiative away from the enemy. It has a simple stealth system that works just requires a bit of manual handling and preparation in its use. (Sneaky Shit)

    Absolutely loving it. Wasteland 2 introduced me to isometric turn based, and that was a whole new world for me with things like Divinity, Xcom, and others. Everything we loved from 2 is here, and then some. The management, the choice, the RPGness, you name it. Usually it wouldn't be the case if it was EA or some other trash company, but the fact that Microsoft acquired InExile was really good for the game, it allowed the to do so much more.

    33rd Antifa Regiment I would say it’s easier to get into than Pillars. Turn based combat, better leveling system, more fleshed out characters, character creation is top notch But Pathfinder does have a time management gimmick. It’s kind of annoying if you go after everything, but they give you can give yourself more time by adjusting the difficulty. I like both, but I’d play Pathfinder over Pillars. Pillars 2 is debatable

    Something I started doing that helps me beat inventory management problems is to implement thresholds at various points in the game. If it’s not a direct upgrade to what I have now or something specifically useful, then I’ll toss anything worth under X value, with X increasing over the course of the game. It’s cut out hours of deciding what to keep and massively streamlined the management process.

    THIS is the game I've been waiting for. There's an area in Wasteland 2 where you encounter 2 factions in conflict. There are many different outcomes to achieve, but the only way to get the ultimate peaceful outcome takes analysis and multiple negotiation trips and certain party skills. You have to pick up on some very subtle clues to even realize this outcome existed. I didn't achieve it, only reading about the possibility later. If there is any crpg you want to experience with hardcore rules in play,(no reloading, accept all outcomes and character deaths and move on,) Wasteland is it.

    The encounter start thing highlights a major weakness with round based group combat in general I feel. It technically would make a lot more sense if each individual group member and enemy involved in the encounter had their own turn determined by their initiative, so instead of the group that has the fastest individual character basically getting off a rounds worth of free attacks, the fastest characters would be the ones to act first and the slow ones the ones to act last.

  • @Bikeadelic
    @Bikeadelic3 жыл бұрын

    In regards to combat: Use the control to command your team individually so you can position them at cover ready for a fight. Then make sure you attack without your initiative guy. Best to use a sniper for options. try and find choke points like corridors. Position most of your team near the entrance (inside), crouch them and have them set to ambush. Have one or two of your dudes out front to attack from stealth to set the enemies off. Then retreat into the corridor and work back down it. As they come in you can use your explosives guy, flamers and machine gun special kills to take out their bunched up group. If you stagger your guys into two separate lines you can protect yourself from the same treatment. Honestly cant stress how easy it is to win when you are drawing them out of the tinny doorway you came in trough rather than having to clear the room.

Great game, a few bugs here and here, (it feels almost like they needed another 2 months before release to clean up.) Probably one of the best RPGs I have played in recent memory. As far as performance goes, I am running a dell xps 13 with an i7-8565U and integrated graphics. The game is very playable on lowest settings. Probably about 25-30 fps, which is certainly doable for this type of game, though I would not want 20-30 fps in a first person shooter. Did notice that every time I launched the game, I had to reset the display settings because they defaulted back to medium with motion blur. Thanks for the review! Well done as always. =D

    Yeah; these 3 are the Fallout, Baldur`s Gate, and Planescape Torment of the generation. 😉

    This style of game is old and tired and easy for devs to make. 1st person and 3rd person are the only worthwhile RPGs.

    @@BuzzingGoober Yeah; there are exactly three very worthwhile contemporary 1st/ 3rd person "RPG"`s : New Vegas, the Witcher series, and, very likely, 2077. 😎 ( Dark Souls etc. , while great, count by all means as Action Adventure. ) - And, an abundance of "AAA" Open World. Trash: Often with the flavors Ubi, EA, or Bethesda.

    It's a shame how few CoOp CRPG's exist, this has turned into my favorite genre. Deciding with my friends whether we are going to be good guys or complete pieces of shit is a hoot.

    I hate turn based combat but you've convinced me to give this a try. Couple hours in and enjoying it so far

    Same for me. I loved Baldur's Gate pausable realtime combat system and I never liked the turn-based system, but here I have no problem with it. I enjoy it, actually. You need to use tactics.

    I feel the ending sequence after dealing with the Patriarchs 3 kids was kind of weak. It felt insanely rushed and like there was some exposition missing before the ending summary rolled.

    This game is a ton of fun Coop. It actually makes it harder to open every door. Just because you will need your teammate there if they have that skill. That makes for some really funny stories.

    This was an A+ game despite a few bugs I ran into. I too did the 12 hour marathon sessions which are increasingly rarer (i.e. non-existent) for me these days. It was a surprise because despite having played the first Wasteland, I did not care for nor finish the second.
