I use my parents KitchenAid washer/dryer set that they bought brand new in 1994 right after I was born. They still work perfectly and have not been serviced a single time. 28 years. All my childhood dirt was washed off in the same washer I use today. I tell my wife we will get brand new ones when they break. They wont die!!!

I miss when I just threw whatever in washer, turned on and it washed with no issues, these washers lasted twenty years, now these HE washers last five years and constantly have problems.

After my divorce, I bought a new Estate (Whirlpool Canada) top loader with old fashioned agitator and dials. I also bought a matching dryer with the old fashioned dials. Cost me $550 in total. After 14 years of constant use, I've never had an issue with either appliance. My clothes are clean and not chewed up.

i used to have a landscape business and and had a problem with one brand of front loader not even getting my socks clean. went to the old top loader with agitator and clothes are always clean. Welder now and will always have one with a top load and agitator as long as the keep making them.

Bought myself a second hand Whirlpool dryer to match my ten year plus washer. Simple three mechanical dials, no motherboard, no digital crap.

I only care about long term reliability and durability. As a former subscriber, consumer reports didn’t even cover speed queen or Miele, and didn’t do anything for us. Five years later our speed queens are running like tops. I don’t care about features... I just want stuff that works. Consumer reports needs to focus on what matters to many buyers: what’s lasts long term? All the focus on features doesn’t matter to our family at all. More crap to break. I was disappointed in my subscription because of the lack of information and coverage of higher-end, more durable brands. Until good organizations start testing companies for quality, reliability and long term durability, washer and dryer companies will keep focusing on short cycle products that have more features than a luxury Mercedes but break down in less than 5 years. Hold companies accountable for quality!

I bought Consumer Reports high rated HE top load washer, an LG CW1101. It was absolutely horrible. It never cleaned the clothes as well as the traditional top-load machine. It took anywhere from three hours to all night to run a regular load, and often had stopped mid-cycle because it couldn't balance a load that had been placed in accordance with the instructions. It filled brim-full, drained, refilled, drained, and sometimes never even ran the impeller plate before going into its electronic sulk, full of wet clothes. It wasted huge amounts of water, detergent, and time. It broke down after only five years and the estimate to repair was more than I had paid for it originally. I went to a local furniture and appliance store and bought a SPEED QUEEN 'classic' model AWN632SP116TW01, product code TC5000WN, a traditional agitator washer essentially identical to the workhorses in the corner coin laundry. My clothes are cleaner, my water bill is down by about 40% over the time I had the so-called HE machine, and a full load is done in under 40 minutes, including the extra rinse cycle. SPEED QUEEN OR NO MACHINE!

It's funny because I bought the same machine LG CW1101. It was absolutely awesome! It cleaned the clothes the best I have ever seen! The best top loader I have ever owned!!!!

My new GE didn't last 2 years and and older model before that was GE, lasted for 25 years that I had before the new one, that cost $400.00. So bought a older model from a second hand store and already got 6 years out of it and it's still going strong. Washes better too,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I stopped listening to Consumer Reports when they began top rating Samsung appliances. As an appliance repairman it makes zero sense to buy those products.

My 2015 Samsung already broke down. They suck! Now I'm looking into a simple commercial one. Update: I bought a GE 3.8 top load non HE and I love it! It's not perfect but it does the job at half the price.

My husband and I in 1998 bought a front load washer and dryer due to space and we needed to stack them bought in 1998 Sears Kenmore HE3 they still works great. Just know with a front loader you have to leave the door open on the washer as they can get moldy and have an odor. We leave ours open and clean it often so it is a little more maintenance, but takes a lickin and keeps on ticking.

Best washing machine are the manual top loaded machines 30 minutes of washing 15 minutes rinzing 15 minutes rinzing total 1 hour is much better than the front loaded automatic machines

I have been using front load washing machine for 10years now. Before that I had a top load manual . I never felt any problem with it. If I read this comment section before buying it, never would have 😂 i will only buy a front load when my current one goes out of order. I personally feel it’s most efficient and cleans better.

Durability? Repair costs? The new washers suffer in these areas

I just bought a GE top loader with agitator and option for deep fills. At the advice of the person in Home Depot who used to work for Sears and sold Kenmore and who's dad repaired washers and dryers back in the day. She told me. Appliances with all these bells and whistles are fun, look sleek and nice, but when that motherboard goes, so does the washing machine. You want something that is as close to basics as possible. She also said to not overload washers, wash in cold, whenever possible. She has seen more people back after spending thousands of dollars in washing machines after 3 to 5 years returning to get a more basic model.

My parents bought the top rated LG top load washer and dryer based on consumer reports recommendations. Each unit costing more that $1k. They've had nothing but problems with the washer. Agitator broke soon after being out of warranty and just yesterday something broke causing the washer to flood their house. Thanks LG and consumer reports for building/recommending the biggest piece of crap washer I've ever seen.

All brands have lemons

Just returned my new Maytag H.E. after using it ONCE. Salespeople said all new washers are now H.E. those who have them need no explanation what their myriad of problems are. Went to the garage, got out my 1980's direct drive Whirlpool non-H.E. machine and it amazed me how much smoother and quieter it runs. Uses the amount of water I tell it to and doesn't require fancey smancey H.E. laundry soap, it likes any soap you feed it. It got the clothes 10 times cleaner and actually spun the water out of them in the rinse cycle. Tossed the brand new H.E. and kept the old direct drive. go figure.

I bought a new GE top load HE washer that was around $600. I worked at sonic and it didn't even get the mustard spots off my shirts. Clothes always smelled dirty after a full wash. With a full load it maybe filled the basket up to 10 inches of water. 2 years later I purchased a new Wirlpool top load for about $300 that allowed load size water levels and it cleaned everything spotless! 5 years later still have the washer and it works great! Wish I would have got another one for backup since they switched to all HE bull crap!

Your tests of top-loaders with agitators didn't include the Maytag Commercial unit (which is available at several big box stores) or the Speed Queen washer. Both units are considered to be as good as the old school top-load agitator washers.

I'm going to buy a commercial front loader. Tired of imported junk which doesn't use enough water. If I want to save water in the future I'll take less showers, install a urinal, or collect rainwater. But I want my clothes clean.

With the strict EU requirements on washing machines, we ended up doing the same. Modern EU washing machines take too long to wash to minimise water usage. For example, according to the UK consumer watchdog Which?, the LG 12kg with a regular 40C cotton cycle takes 4.5 hours! Domestic washing machines seem to be limited to 60cm wide, which the model (the largest domestic model I'm aware of here) has a smaller drum capacity than even most budget washing machines available in the US. The commercial Whirlpool machine we bought over 10 years ago takes just 45 minutes to wash a regular 40C cotton cycle. Just a pity the commercial models cost a small fortune to buy and difficult to get a look at before purchasing as the trade suppliers of such models generally don't have any on display.

If you have no idea how to do laundry, then it's true. Otherwise one would not spread such nonsense. The modern front loaders are highly efficient, gentle on the laundry and clean best. In addition to water, mechanical effects and temperature are extremely important for good results. It is not enough just to waste water. And wasting water is the only thing the old US laundry mixers can do. Apart from destroying the fabric structure of clothing, of course.

I was at Sears yesterday because my Maytag Washing Machine’s (of 45 years) motor burned up. The salesman said they break so much because of the electronics placed on them in order to meet energy regulations. Not to mention the quality or lack there of on the parts being used (cheap plastic). However, I refuse to buy any appliances that hook up to WiFi or Bluetooth, because we are all being bombarded with radio frequencies (more like Radiation) every second of the day, I really don’t want to contribute to any more in my home! Anyway, I was so disappointed when I looked at the new Maytag 4.8 Cu Ft. Front Loader. The knobs seem flimsy and the door’s latch is made of plastic and the 2nd or 3rd time my daughter slams the door, I know it’s going to break (or the sensor)! Maytag is definitely not what it used to be. Those days are gone for now!

I find it curious that CR says that machines with agitators are the least effective at cleaning when most people who replaced one with an HE machine say the just opposite.

Well, not to say either of you are wrong, but most people also don't follow the direction either. Most new washers prefer HE detergent, and most people use too much detergent for newer machines, so it doesn't rinse it all out because its expecting less of it

Easy...Put some very muddy/dirty clothes in an HE...take your clothes out of the HE after it's finished and put it in the sink and hand agitate them.......they are filthy when you do it.....HE is horrible.

The problem with frontloading washers and their matching dryers is that most homeowners make them hard as hell to service. They build counters over them, stack them without providing access and then fail to tell the repair company same. If the washer is stacked, it usually takes two people or a special dolly to unstack the dryer. Since these dollies are over $400 a piece not every truck is going to have wine. Personally I would forgo the front loading washers because of the smell, expense and maintenance. A high-efficiency Toploader is by far the best choice.

CR: you missed mentioning one of the major cons of a front loading washer… The mold issue. I only have room for a stacking washer and dryer in my space, so I am now switching back to an all in one space saver unit after 5+ years with a front loader. It feels wasteful to switch, but living with a machine that is stinky and musty at best and very likely emitting toxic mold into my home is no longer an option. I think Front load washers are complete sham. And, along with the mold - they require much more maintenance… Meaning daily or weekly maintenance if you want to try to keep the mold under control - and you also have to clean out the filter at the bottom of the machine regularly, or it will stop working until you do clean it. This is nonexistent on the top loading washing machine. Very frustrating if you have animals especially since animal hair is often the kind of thing that gets caught up in the filter. Since my front loader is in a stacking set up and there is no pedestal to raise up the washer off the floor...this means that I am nearly laying on the floor at times to achieve this task with my front. 🙄 Thankfully, I get to say bye-bye to it in just a matter of days!

Funny how my old top load used to actually get clothes clean the first time around. Water cleans. The front load garbage (I'm going on number 4 now) takes at least an hour to run instead of a few minutes (that's efficient?) and nothing comes clean. I've had more color transfer and bleach issues than I ever had with a top load. They've legislated us into crap.

At 3:20 this video ever so slightly mentions a serious flaw in some high efficiency top load washers - it may break itself and flood your house because it doesn't like your clothes. Therefore, if you buy a HE top load washer always keep it in your basement where flooding is less damaging. Never keep it upstairs.

I been in the business for 37 years, and here is whats going on. First, energy consumption drives EVERYTHING. Second, marketing sells features, not quality. Then, accounting wants to make money, by saving money and so engineering suffers and so does the consumer. Satisfying World governments and ecology is more important than individuals, according to Big Brother.

How about you tell us which brands are quality or save the rant

My summer daytime temperatures average 115 deg outside, and higher inside the garage where the washer is. I don't trust all those electronics to withstand the heat over the long term. I also see lots of complaints of newer washers failing after just a few years, despite hefty price-tags. I do want a front load that will handle comforters, blankets, etc., but I want the standard manual setting knobs that are well proven and that I trust to last.

I bought a Bosch NEXXT 300 series 22 years ago and they''re still working great.

I have school tomorrow and I’m watching a video on washing machines...

I like they test compact washers now, it is better than trying to extrapolate from a full sized washer's performance.

I've had a Samsung for 6 years with no issues. We just replaced bearings ourselves due to increased noise, but it never broke down. Now it sounds like the day I bought it; Super quiet.

Don't know who does their tests for them, but I've never had clothes come out as clean with a front loader as I have with a top loader with an agitator. My next washer will be a speed queen TC5. They fill to the top and still use the agitator.

There was no mention of mold issues w/ front load washers

tosin use the machine properly and you won’t get mould in it. Don’t do cold washes all the time. Besides cold water doesn’t actually clean properly. Would you shower everyday in cold water. Would you wash dirty greasy dishes in cold water. Clothing takes on body grease and you need heat to remove it. Luckily here in the uk we have heaters in our washing machines. Also cold water doesn’t help the detergent. It will build up in the machine in the gap between the tub and drum if you only wash in cold or warm water. It combines with the grease out our clothing,bedding and towels and after a very short time it will start to stink so once again you need some proper heat in the machine.

No, that’s an issue in ALL of them. That’s why you now have to buy a special cleaning product to use on your washing machine - Page 21 of the operating manual of the Maytag Maxima Xl clearly states the door must be left open so it can dry out in between uses or it will begin to STINK. Ever wonder why you never had to buy a special cleaning product with a top-loader? Because it was a better designed product, that’s why.

I still had a Kenmore 70 Series up until a week ago. Ran great for decades! Now I'm scared to buy a new one. She didn't discuss the difference between a belt drive washer and a direct drive.

I suggest a basic GE topload washer 4.5 cf with AGITATOR. make sure it has "deep fill" feature so you an add extra water of needed. Good luck.

I've got a Kenmore Elite top loader and dryer that are like 15+ years old still going strong and work great. My mom got a LG front loader that lasted 4 years before the bearing on the drum failed. The new stuff is planned obsolescence crap.

Same here Son37. I've had it for years, and clothes come out clean every time. These people with negative reviews, most of them without ever owning one, is ridiculous. Like everything else, of course some machines have issues, nothing is perfect, but I've had no problems with mine for 14 years. I wash king size blankets and comforters, with no problems at all. The whitest whites cycle with a little liquid bleach is awesome; white tee shirts come out as white and bright as the day I bought them.

My Maytag that just burned up lasted me 45 years! Now I’m stuck with a piece of crap! My 45 year old dryer is still working though! I have had to change the heating element like 3 times over the past 45 years but it’s still working! I could care less if it matches my washer. Because I’m sure I will be replacing it as soon as the warranty is up!

One very important thing to do i look on Craigslist in the Appliance section for a couple of days and see Which ones are for sale for $50.00 because they have a F CODE (for failure ). It becomes evident these expensive front loader washers and dryers have a very short life cycle!! Most you see will be about 3 years old!!!

I've sold and repaired appliances for 19 years. When it comes to buying a dryer, buy cheap! They all do the exact same thing (heat, tumble, and move air). Next if u want capacity buy a front load, if u want clean buy a top load with an agitator. Also buy American! Easier to find someone to fix as well as parts. Speed queen was great before the total redesign for 2018 now u couldn't give me one. My best advice to someone who wants a good machine, go on Craigslist or auction and buy a direct drive whirlpool, Kenmore, estate, roper, or KitchenAid used. Those were the 2nd best machines ever made, very abundant for now and very easy and cheap to fix. Oh yeah and CR is full of crap!

What about miele dryers

You listed cons for front loaders. Add in they take extra care to keep clean. Pedestal are nice but make the front loaders vibrate more, and make it louder. Display panels are nicer but seeing how washers don't last like they used to, if they need repairs, expect more expenses. Remote diagnosis is good, but most time, it just helps the customer connect to the manufacturer to get a tech out there. In remote areas of the US. (Like where I am) consumers should find out who repairs the machine they want and where they are located. Its pretty common for the people living in remote communities or on a farm to not have access to any techs or very few. ( I cover 5,000 square miles, but I do not do service for everyone) I have heard from my customers that they had to send a tech from the next state over.

Buy a Speed Queen model without an electronic control board. Old school, heavy duty like the ones you find at the coin op laundromat.

Maytag Commercial is the best washer. I bought one and I couldn’t be more impressed. It comes with a 5 year parts and labor warranty.

"thanks" CR for suggesting I buy a samsung top loader a few years ago. that $800 POS is already junk, they sent someone out to do a safety recall, and it started banging around after that. was told that was normal by the recall tech. no independent repair person will work on it, and when I called samsung they said they'd refund me some money but have received nothing. I feel like it was a total ripoff and terrible advice. CR you used to be great advice but now I think you cost me nearly a grand when I could have bought something for cheaper that would probably still be working.

Traditional washers vs HE washers. Real pros and cons. Traditional: pros. Better wash action, faster cycles, agitators to push clothes to the washplate. Cons. Can become unbalanced, a little noisy. High efficiency: Pros. Spends faster, energy. Cons. Less water, no agitator, plastic parts life expectancy, too expensive for what it is.

If you want to do you comforters do it in a front loader or use a top loader with an agitator he top loaders for wash comforters it just swirls it around

I hate hate hate the new washers. In fact ANYTHING with computer controls. Bought a commercial Speed Queen. Love it. 30 minutes, it's done. With as hot of water as I want and plenty of it. Clean clothes......a good thing

Buyer beware, you want to know what to buy just ask a service technician, stay away from 1- Samsung 2- LG you wont find anyone to service them.Frigidaire, Whirlpool and GE are ok to buy, if you really want to buy a unit thats going to last 30 years then Speed Queen is the way to go.

I've replaced the pump on my Maytag HE front-loader twice in 15 years. I then added an in-line filter before the pump several years ago and its been fine. No filter = bad design. I have to tip the washer WAY back to clean it though. Now it shakes like crazy unless I put pressure on the upper right front panel. What's a reliable washer now?

Our last Whirlpool Duet washer lasted 3 years. The Whirlpool Duet you buy today will not last as long as the one you bought 14 years ago.

I bought a front load LG 6 years ago my husband put some wear and tear on it and broke the door . It does an excellent job at washing and it still worked perfectly up until the door broke and we called service and it will probably come out to the same amount to fix it than if we just bought a new one so guess I’m getting a new washer 😀

Their comment about front loaders being more vibration prone is true. Bought an LG that did a great job but on our second floor (wood) sent vibration throughout the whole house. So much that the room adjacent to he laundry room was so noisy that conversation was impossible. Bought some vibration pads for the feet. Waiting to see if that works.

I checked out as soon as they said agitators don't wash as good as the high-efficiency models...

They didn't even mention the biggest con of front load machines: the doors gather an build up moisture, smells, mildew, and mold

i tell you what too do keep your old vintage stuff 30 40 yr old stuff will out last any new ones made too be junk, old maytag and old ge 70s 80s keep the vintage don't buy new

When I do my laundry in my top load washer, I will start the machine with an empty tub first , let the machine fill up with water, add detergent and let it mix thoroughly before adding the clothes in to continue the whole wash and rinse and spin cycle, I do this to prevent detergent bleaching my dark colored work pants or leaving detergent burnt marks on my clothes. Can Consumer reports do a study on adding detergent powder and liquids on top of laundry and pushing the start button and waiting for the water to fill vs My method of pre mixing the detergent and water before piling in the laudry. How widespread is the damage caused to colored fabrics with concentrated detergent soaking into clothes before they had a chance of micing fully with the water?

I like those old dials :(

Go to Home Depot & get a box of TSP & add it to every load. No more BO smells in your towels. If you don't want 18K lb. towels don't use Fabric Softener.

i have a dryer which senses if there is still moisture in clothes. if there is goes on if its not. it just stops. to save electricity

Always relied on CR recommendations....until I bought their top rated Whirlpool Duet washer/dryer for over $3,000 for the pair including a 3 years extended warranty. My previous Kenmore pair which I had bought used after 5 years use for $200, had lasted over 2 decades without any problems. The Whirlpool washer stopped working just outside of the 4 year warranty and the cost to replace the master control board was $400. Now the plastic on the front or both machines with all the lettering on it is cracking and peeling. It is a very bad design with cheap plastic applique. I think CR should also do long term/accelerated wear tests. The high end machines have too many computer parts which don't last. I am very disappointed in Whirlpool and CR as well.

Bakki Kudva Not to put salt on your disappointment but most Kenmore Washers are made by whirlpool. So probably you replaced your Kenmore washer with a whirlpool one made in the same factory.

My older Maytag worked way way better than my new Maytag. Washes with minimal water minimal cleaning as well

Kenmore 90 series is the greatest washer of all time. 21 years and counting with 0 issues. FTW!

LG TROMM series is the best washer in the world. The world sales figures shows!! Where can you find Kenmore washers except the domestic market???

What about portable washer for like an apartment that doesn't have W/D hookups. Which do you recommend?

My front load Maytag HE started giving me problems after 2 years. My next machine will be an old-school type top loader...NOT an HE.

LG is much better than Samsung in washing machine, air conditioner, refrigerator, micro wave and (probably) TV too. LG simply makes better home appliances than Samsung. But I really can't tell about foreign countries because they make different models from domestic ones. Sorry, my English is not good...

You are correct about the appliances, Samsung definitely makes better TVs though. LG TVs are riddled with problems. Not surprising you would see this difference though, Samsung and LG’s tv division is very different than their appliance division

In my personal experience the best washers have a heating element to heat water and additional weight at the bottom to prevent unnecessary shaking or vibration.

Replaced both the water pump and control panel after 6 years of use. Control panel cost me $180 bucks to replace. $600 if replaced by repairman. These machines don't last that long. :(

The best washing machines are the manual washing machines where you can customizingly float clothes in a lot of water and only when clothes float in a lot of water does the stains go away

After my whirlpool duet washer Imploded after 3 years, I refuse to buy any high end appliance any more. These companies need to get back to making quality products. I paid almost $2000.00 dollars between the washer dryer and 2 pedestals, and 3 years later the washer is a ready for the dumpster. Completely unacceptable !!!!!!!!

This only tells you about all the types witch one is best ??????

Best to go old school and get a bare bones washer.

tantriceci they have a lot more points of failure and their electronic parts are expensive to replace. It’s okay if you have an extended warranty policy but once it’s out of warranty expect to pay several hundreds of dollars for simple things.

Sulfen I dont know about you but where I live we have home insurance that covers stuff like that. You only pay 150 euros, insurance covers the rest.

Go with an old school kenmore with an Agitator. They'll last forever.

@@miguelrocks1000 I've been married 42 years. My parents gave us a washer and dryer for a wedding gift they were Sears /Kenmore. After 25 years we replaced them with whirlpool. Now we're replacing that set of whirlpool. So I'm on my 3rd set of washer and dryer in 42 years. Not bad, eh? I must be easy on appliances I'm on my 2nd stove and fridge. Heck I keep my cars 20 years also. I have one ordered to replace my manual transmission Toyota Corolla. The only reason I'm replacing it is because I had two major back surgeries this year and I can't use the shift and clutch. There is not a bit of rust on my car. Can't figure out what to do with it now. As for a washer and dryer, I'm going with whirlpool again.

Speed Queen. The best. No technology needed to make life hard.

Remember, the more complex and hi tech the washer/dryer, the faster they break down.

What is stupid these days is that dryers are so freaking expensive!

A high level of water extraction makes sense, but how do you know? Where is that rating?

Consumer Reports is a good concept, ie non profit, independent, objective, non-biased, etc. But, for many products like cars or washing machines, they've given too much emphasis for things like safety, conservation, etc. And it causes them to lose sight of the actual purpose or function of a given item... ie. how good it is for the purpose it was designed for. This should be the main priority.

Don't buy a LG front loader. It's a CR recommended make, but the one we have is about 2 years old now......water pump has failed, detergent , dispenser container started leaking ...all this from an expensive washer.

Your advice is good. I have a few friends that bought fancy expensive LG washers to impress each other and they all got junk. The LG refrigerator is crap too.

I have a front load that’s large enough to wash blankets , but the blankets throw it off balance , so , I have to go to the laundromat for blankets also although it is a large capacity if I put large loads in it it shakes and doesn’t wash well , it is an LG brand cold water washer and I do not know whether it is cleaning well or not , have to do half of small loads for it to work right , if it’s actually working , my dryer that’s a whole other story it’s the match to the washer sensor dry doesn’t dry , I have to do manual dry

I want to buy a washing machine. Automatic or manuel is good..... means long lasting nd less complaint

Why do you think they began, meaning that did they start intentionally. 4. People speak and most is not as accurate as they should. 5. Could price be the reason why people buy those products today and is it not rational? Dividers Questions: 6. Back then people buy not from sense, it depends. 7. Repairmans dont make zero sense, they fix appliances. 8. How many samsung applicances did they top rate from all samsung appliances. 9. Just because you are a repairman doesnt mean you have awareness of all the appliances out there to date. 10. You should say instead of zero sense that although people can make a return, I never will buy samsung products because it is ineffective.

This isn't even a new video (even though it's dated May 7, 18), it's jus a re-upload. Even the machines were dated (you can tell by model changes though the years). Look at those HE3 Kenmores and Samsungs and GE's, Whirlpool doesn't even make those touch screens anymore. What was the point of the re-post?

I have to buy washing machine, but I still don't know what is the best. Somebody can tell me. For me it's important: front load, timer, quick programs and if it's possible add wash,but this is not that important. I just want a good wash machine for years.

You should test ge gtw750csl0ws.. It molds and i bought extended protection that is useless because 2 guys from warranty have come to only act like its my fault it is molding around inside around tub between housing and tub

This review is the opposite of what I have read about the various machines from both consumers and repair persons! The agitators clean far better than non/HE direct drive which clumps up the clothes, sometimes the water does not cover the clothing and then sprays water on it a few times while swishing it, becomes unbalanced constantly and the drum is too deep for short persons to reach to the bottom. They dont clean dirty clothes very well and take Forever to complete a wash cycle! The agitators can wear clothes out faster. Mildew complaints are common with front loaders around the rubber door seals so you have to keep them open to air them out...they have not worked out the bugs on these new machines yet! We need made-in-America machines back with quality control standards in place and the research to back up their functional capacity.

Had a whirlpool and Maytag HE washer and both only lasted less than 4 years... It was more cost efficient to replace than to repair. My dad uses a washer he got almost 40 years ago still working like a champ.

Hey great video review...just doing some market research here but wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me where you put in the dirty laundry to wash but forget to move to the dryer bc you're busy or distracted and then the clothes get stinky or you have to wash it again wasting water, electricity and detergent??? LOL....just trying to come up with solutions for something like an "instant laundry" but not the combo type so just pop it in and then like an hour later it's done washed and dried. Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated y'all! ;) Thx

So disappointed in my new Maytag top agitator loader. $900 wasted. Little water = Little cleaning. Knots clothing. Computers are non flexible not programmable Lock you in. Poor performance.

The HE Maytag top load washing machines are junk when compared to the older Maytag washing machines!

While you may be able to put a washer and a electric dryer in your bed room. You can not have a gas dryer in your bed room.

Frederick Soileau there are heat pump dryers with a condenser that do not require venting to the outside. They can, also, be extremely energy efficient.

CR and most any other " testing" entity, only test features, not quality, and even worse, they push machines with energy savings, that cost more , and that is usually a red herring, cuz energy star appliances cost more , but do not last longer.

These new washers don't wash your clothes. I want my old washer back!

@0972q8 Front loaders use gravity to assist in the tumbling. Top loaders w no agitators, have - nothing; just clothes against clothes for supposed 'friction.'

If you have a spare couple million you might be able to have it designed, AI technology is getting there maybe, lol.

This is not a "buying guide" video, it is just a general info video on washing machines

I’ve used Consumer Reports when buying my appliances. They get it right! It’s not their fault that the best rated appliance doesn’t last as long as the good old ones.

Then they didn't test any Miele front loaders. These are really heavy machines with a decent sheet metal/steel housing. Vibrations are no problem for them. They are designed to work for 20 years.

Pedestal? I built a box out of plywood and 2x4's to stand the washer & dryer on. No more bending. Total cost, $49 for both machines box stands.
