Welcome to the channel, In this video, I will show you how to install and use a blueprint in Home Assistant that allows you to monitor the power consumption of your appliances and perform actions based on the start and end of their cycles. You can use this blueprint for washing machines, dryers, or any appliance that draws increased power during its cycle. Here are the main steps of the video:
Install the blueprint - I will explain how to find and install the blueprint from the Home Assistant community forum. The blueprint is called Power Consumption Based Appliance State Detection and it was created by user Sbyx, please remember to like the blueprint in GitHub if you get the chance.
Configure the blueprint - I will guide you through the configuration options of the blueprint, such as selecting the power monitoring plug that you attach to your appliance, setting the power thresholds for detecting the start and end of the cycle, and choosing the actions to perform when the cycle starts and ends. You can use any actions that are supported by Home Assistant, such as sending notifications, playing sounds, turning on lights, etc.
Test the blueprint - I will demonstrate how the blueprint works by running a cycle on my washing machine and showing you the power consumption graph and the actions that are triggered by the blueprint. I will also show you how to troubleshoot any issues that you might encounter, such as incorrect power readings, false triggers, or delayed actions.
