I use 4" aluminum hard pipe, not flex. I tape the joints and do not use screws so lint will not get collect on the inside where the screw penetrates. The downside to using hard pipe is it is not as convenient to pull the appliance out, however I use a clamp on the connection to the machine to make it easier. Pulling it out is not as hard as lining it up to push it back in place. If you have two people it is no problem, by yourself it can take few tries. There is no sagging or restrictions like you get with flex duct.

i prefer that when you can work on it....this was insane. Dryer vent should of been 4' off the ground for some hard pipe to be prefabbed on final.

You should NEVER screw in the vent duct. That’s going to capture lint and may even start a fire if not cleaned out by the owner. The vent exhaust pipe you drilled was also on the dryer itself which isn’t replaceable on 90% of dryers. Always use clamps so the owner is able to easily remove the duct and clean it out.

I like to use the adjustable ovel vents in tight spots when possible. They can also be cut for shorter lengths. The smooth surface collects less lint than flexible duct.

Unfortunately Chuck, it's either flex or smoke pipe for dryer vents. I've used an in the wall dryer vent box before, which is kind of nice if you have the room to install it. I've also hooked up wall/floor mount lint trap boxes, which throws a little heat into the room. CB2...stop walking away for the ending....give us a frat party ending.

I’m installing a new gas dryer line in a few days to go along with our new dryer. What if the old connector does not come out of the valve on the line? Can I reuse the old connector and all the new line parts to the dryer or do I absolutely have to replace the connector on the valve?

CB-1 if those walls had another coat of paint on them you wouldn't have got that washer and dryer in there. For the dryer vent I would have used the rigid aluminum flex pipe instead of that soft foil piping. ( in my country ) which is the USA on the washer legs I put these round plastic gliders underneath of them so the washer slides in real easy. There's my tech tips for the week lol. Peace brother

I bet that type vent is for bathroom exhaust or range hoods not heat rated needed with dryer venting. I have a terrible job where I hook up washers and dryers all day. In my country that would catch on fire.

there's different types of flex like he used, you have t pay attention and read, some are actual multi layered foil which takes hours to burn through, while others are plastic and for bathroom venting only... READ THE IDIOT TAGS or risk causing deaths/injury to folks.... such a tough concept ehh. yeah, the proper materials cost more, so don't go grabbing the cheapest junk you can get your lil weenine beaters clawed onto :)))))

you must be where they stupidly place a gas appliances and other "sparking" electrical in the same tiny 4 cubic foot area of unventilated shoe box..... most places here it would take a massive leak to fill and ignite into an explosion or fire that causes major damage.... when it does occur, it's because morons are so brain baked on drugs/alcohol they don't notice the smell or just plain stupid and think it's normal....
