Learn how to install a gas dryer. This quick gas dryer installation video takes you from start to finish. Most gas dryer installations are really simple and easy. We use natural gas at our homestead. Our existing gas clothes dryer was showing its age and it stopped working so I purchased a new one which is shown in the video. It's not a fancy dryer but it's a workhorse.
I have installed gas appliances for about 30 years. In most locations, a homeowner can legally perform a gas dryer installation. However, check your local laws because some municipalities require professional installation. Also, always install with a new flex hose. You'll notice that I purchased a new connection kit and then found a flare part to fit the dryer connection which I could then connect to the flex hose. You may have to make a trip or two to the hardware to get your proper connection parts.

It’s working great for me.
Can you use teflon tape instead of the pipe dope? Some kits come with some tape included but I read somewhere that teflon is not gas rated and some other kind should be used.

Hi. Yes you can use Teflon tape as long as it says “for gas” fittings and connections.
Do you have a video on how to clean the lint inside the gas dryer? Thanks

I don’t but I can tell you that we are very meticulous about removing the lint from the screen after every dryer cycle. I just replace the venting for the first time in 23 years so keeping that lint in check worked.
What if my dryer is 3/8” I bought flex hose to fit that but the gas coming in my house is 1/2” how do I hook it up?

I’m all for gas dryers, but there a lot of idiots that don’t do maintenance and cause a fire.
