9 years later and still saving people's bacon!! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom 🙏 8pm I was doing some laundry when I had a flood emergency! I detested the thought of disassembling the washer that late so went to KZread for some help. And bam! Found this gem. After ruling out any fault with the solenoid, I tested the pressure switch hose by blowing into it. At first no pressure went through but suddenly it did, so I assumed something clogged it. I ran hot water through the hose to flush it out a lil bit. And it fixed the issue, no more overflow!

Bill, thanks so much for this video! I spent many hours over this past Labor Day weekend trying to research and decide on which washing machine to purchase, as mine overfilled and flooded my basement. Reading about the (un)reliability of so many new washers was so frustrating that I decided not to buy anything at all for now. Then I found your video and repaired my washer, myself! Not only have you saved me from a major financial outlay, but you saved the rest of my holiday weekend from stress. Thank you!

Bill, you are a life saver! I have been spending $20 at the laundry mat for 3 weeks because a repair guy wants to charge $125 just to show up. I watched your video, opened the back and my wife screams "The hose that Bill mentioned came OFF!". I blew on the hose just to make sure and heard the air at the bottom of the tub loud and clear, I then put the hose back on and some tape . I turned it on and it worked like a charm! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. ~John

When I watched this video I had already replace the hose and my washer still didnt stop filling with water, once I watched this video I learned if replacing hose did not work, you then blow through the hose from the upper end at the pressure switch down to bottom of washer and if you cant push air through then there is buildup at the bottom, i could not get any air through there, just a small amount so I took my Ryobi hand operated low pressure air compressor and blew a little bit of air down the hose from the top and i had success, I was able to free up enough debris to push air through and that fixed my issue of the water not stopping at the fill up levels, im testing now and all seems to work well! Thank you very much for the detailed video You are awesome! Keep up the good work

Bill, My washer recently stopped working, my wife immediately went to Sears to look for a new one. I decided to check out your channel on a google search to see if i may be able to troubleshoot and repair myself. Low and behold we discovered a sock in the water pump. My dad was never handy so i never got to learn much DIY growing up. i just wanted to say Thank You! you saved me an unnecessary large purchase. my Washing machine is now working like new!

Bill I know this video has been out for awhile but I wanted to say THANKS!!! I was watching Robery DIY and he told us what to do about connecting the hose under the top of dryer, but my washer kept filling, then I watched your video and this was the second success tip was to blow into the clear hose for debris. I did this several times and my washer is working great. Thank you for sharing. I really mean it. Thank you so much!!!

Sunday afternoon on Father's day and the washer is overflowing. A trip to the barn for parts and I am back in business thanks to your video! Let me repay you by telling you the best way of keeping a washer from "walking" across the floor (I know:balance load, level, friction washer etc). Go to the local farm store and get a horse stall mat. Cut a piece just about 2 inches wider than the feet on the machine, an inch longer in front and extend out past the back of the machine to the wall. Put the piece of mat against the wall and the washer on top of it. The feet of the washer sink into the mat just enough to keep the machine from moving and weight and size of the mat keeps the machine from moving. I have done this for over 7 years with three different machines with perfect results. Don't mean to hijack this thread and this is valuable information. Thanks again and love up your daughter because they group up fast.

Thank you for the valuable information! After discovering my washer was overfilling (a little at a time over months - I hadn't had a mini cycle in a long time). I tested everything you recommended and finally took the air dome (as it's called on the Maytag parts page). It was full of junk which I cleaned out with hot water and a zip tie to loosen it up. After cleaning it and putting it back together I now have all my load sizes back! Thank you!

Very helpful. One important point was missing in my case. The pressure switch tube had come off the barrel and I put it back on while there was water in the barrel (indeed it was squirting out of the barrel) which meant that the air pressure level was incorrectly low, causing the washer to then overflow. By emptying the barrel completely and then re-attaching the tube again, it then worked correctly.

Hi Bill, I watched your video because my washer kept filling up and eventually overflowed all over the floor - couple of times causing a mess. Your video for finding the problem was very very helpful and you did a great job. I checked my pressure switch as you explained and found that it was still in working condition. When I checked the tubing ( after opening the front panel) I found that there was gunk in the other end of the tubing ( about 2 inches) - completely plugged with a dark oily residue. I pulled out the tube and cleaned that end of the tubing with a sharpened chop stick so that all the residue could be removed. Wow, when I put back everything and did a small load test, the washer worked perfectly ... thanks very much ...a 10 for you.

Tried to locate a new valve and was quoted 70 bucks for the part. They didn't have it in stock and would have to wait for it to be shipped. Took the valve completely apart and cleaned off all the hard water deposits, Cleaned corrosion from the terminals and put it all back together. The screen entering cold water inlet had chunks of hard water and I dont know what. Im not sure what the actual problem may have been, but the washer works perfect now. Just in time for the New Year. Much thanx again

Electro-Mechanical mechanism. There's a diapragm in the fill switch that goes pop. My washer is in limbo right now. After 15 years of trouble free service the pump is leaking. I was amazed that so many people are into fixing their washing machine. I've always loved mechanics. I removed the "cabinet" and found 15 years of dirt. Formula 409 really cuts the dirt and makes cleaning easy. I've tried to replace the cabinet without consulting KZread videos and botched it. So tonight I'll try again so I can at least wash my pile of clothes on the floor before I go out and buy another washing machine and dryer.

Oh my gosh! Bill, YOU ARE A GENIUS! I feel like I owe you something. My husband is a truck driver who is almost never home. I have kids, needed to do my laundry and was totally frustrated, because it kept running over.
