Punk cannot be a heel, he's too over as a face. Heels are defined by how much they piss off fans. Short of going "Ya know, Tony Khan and AEW weren't that bad. The Bucks are pretty chill, actually!" or throwing a baby down a well, he's not getting booed no matter how "badly" he behaves.

What people are missing about bringing Seth into this is how hard the WWE are protecting CM Punk in the ring. Punk/Drew means Punk could get injured again mid-match and shit the bed, but bring in Seth and they can cover for it and even bring in an injured Punk to steal the win at the end. Would be a fitting end to this feud: a broken, injured Pepsi Phil getting one over a guy who managed to completely reinvigorate his character and doing the best promo work of his second WWE tenure. Chef's kiss right there. I thought initially that Seth was going to win back his super midcard belt from kind of lame duck transitional champ Damian Priest. Guess we might get Gunther winning and Seth challenging him once Punk/Drew is over? I mean, Seth is getting his belt back, right? He's the ultimate super midcarder! The WWE excel at smoke and mirrors to protect performers limited by injuries/wear and tear/age, but what happens after Punk/Drew is done? Who else can they sacrifice at the altar of Punk and can carry his broken body? Or will Phil call it a day to just do podcasts and rake in merch money?
