On the Southern Regionis was often made to haul loads that were too heavy for tgemto keep to time.
The prototype was so unreliable that it was known as 'The Wonder Loco', as in 'I wonder if it is going to work today?'
Heavy! Those formations are quality. Whoever did those images did a great job.
Oh, so they were on the Southern then. Becomes very relevant to me suddenly

Not really 'they', it was a one-off prototype but yes, it was seen on the Southern Region.
'Silver'-painted bogies are used on U.S. locos, as cracks in sideframes show up better . . .
