WAS THIS BOX OF OLD SPORTS CARDS WORTH IT?
Today I purchased a small collection of sports cards from the 1950's inside of an old shoebox. Lots of stars, Hall of Famer's and memories found inside!

I would have bought that. Better than paying a grand for current lackluster hobby boxes.

you should 100% be buying this kind of stuff for your store....and have the best items listed in an Ebay store as well. This was a good box man.
That Wyatt Earp is his only true rookie. Some people think that his card with him and his brother Virgil and Doc Holiday high-fiving at the O.K. Corral is his RC, but that was from the Traded set that year.
Mantle, Aaron, & Williams! Great buy!
The past was definitely alive in that box!
That was a great find and fun to watch. My favorite card was the Jackie Robinson Exhibit Postcard (and the 56 Williams was great, too). As for $1k for all of it, I definitely didn't break it down carefully but it feels like a bit in the middle for me. Like, it's not a steal but you didn't wildly overpay, either.
Really enjoy your content. I've been buying lots over the last 2 years and love the surprise of what you can get for the price. It's always fun to see. Thank you.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy my videos! I love the thrill of the chase also.
Another fun trivia fact, this regarding Bob Buhl(one of your cards): He holds the Major League record for the most times at bat in a season without a hit(0 for 70). He was a pitcher, and a solid one for the 2 Milwaukee Braves World Series teams in 1957 and 58.
I love 57 Topps. Such as basic design. There’s something about the lack of a design that makes them so unique and appealing to me.

Does he do e-bay and his name there
LOL it looked like Eddie sneezed inside the penny sleeve.
Wow Jon! What a great find and video! Love those old cards. Use to have so many of them in the 80s. Sold my collection when I got divorced back on the 90s. Now, trying to buy back the ones I lost. Sucks I never got to visit before I moved to Arizona. Hope sometime when I’m up visiting my kids in Pittsburgh we can finally meet
Sweet haul!
Oddly, "The Weiner the World Awaited" is my motto as well.
Awesome box of cards! I really like the Cleveland cards especially that 58 Lou "the toe" Groza and the 57 Colavito.
Quite the box of Vintage for sure! This was a great find, and I'm glad people are reaching out to you when they are ready to sell!
For fans of NFL kickers, you have 2 great cards. That's the earliest Gary Anderson(Steelers) card I have seen, he was the all time points leader when he retired from kicking. And a great vintage Lou "The Toe" Groza card.
I think it was a well spent $1000. Love the history attached with it all.
I noticed that Yogi was leaving in Tenafly,NJ at the time before moving to Montclair. That's why his son Dale was born in nearby Ridgewood 2 years earlier.
Great find for sure ! Love the Jackie ! The exhibit cards are great .
Wow! I love this kind of stuff!
Awesome pick up. Some great cards!
I think you both got a Fair shake on the deal, you’ll have to sell some cards to get money back, but also think the Bart star, Mickey Mantle , my favorite ,the crowds, killebrew ,ect, you’ll make money some of the lesser players will bring decent money as long as their in nice shape, the card stock on those 1950’s cards has a thicker card stock then cards from 70’s and up ,so you can’t lose but just have to put the time in to off load them in auction. Yeah nice pick up land thanks for sharing
Got some great cards! Thanks for the video Jon! 🙏
Thank you for sharing. I think you should break even and still be able to keep the rookies if you need them.👍👍
Nice pickups- hope to see some of those in the next auction!
Jim Piersall. Movie was made about him. Fear Strikes Out. Starred Anthony Perkins.
Beautiful cards.
Awesome collection ... I'm a 57 junkie, lol ... 1k was a totally fair price ....It's also fun just to talk to the original collectors, so for 1K you got a great deal....
Eddie looked as if he was upset about that penny sleeve he's in. 😅 This is just about exactly what I would call Han Solo to my Boba Fett. I REALLY appreciate you sharing this. I'm glad you're my friend, because I feel like I got a win, too. Thanks for the vicarious victory. Take care, bro. (The Mick is my fav Hank was very close 2nd.)
great find! the Mantle, Williams, and Aaron, if you send off to get graded, basically get you whole! seems like a no brainer buy to me! Cant wait to see some of those in an auction! lol
@2:32 1947 Jackie Robinson sold (bid) "raw card" on Ebay on 9/4 for $172 (27 bids)
Great find, and a fair price.
I like the Orlando Cepeda, Ted Williams, Mantle, Hank Aaron, Bart Starr, and Lou Groza cards. $1,000 for that particular lot was the perfect price. You will DEFINITELY make a little profit off of this beautiful lot. Thanks for sharing the video.
So Awesome, well done, well done
Great find! Great deal!
I can smell the musty box from here. Im jealous...what great fun.
Looks like a great video. Love this.
All those old cards for a $1000 was a great deal. Just the oversized format cards alone are worth more than a $1000
Kahns- The Weiner The World Awaited. Nice! Late 50's/Early 60's was actually in packaged of hot dogs. Gil and Jackie are Exhibit cards. They were distributed by vending. You can tell the rough year of release based on the size or lettering of the writing on bottom front. I did the same today with a small box today. I ended up with a set of East Hills Shopping Center Pittsburgh Pirates and a 4 in 1 Exhibit card of Arky Vaughn, Guy Bush, Pie Traynor and Paul Waner. I'd be interested in some of the football maybe. It would have been sweet to find a Jim Brown Rookie in that lot.
This box was processed by a dealer way before you got to it. They did not have penny sleeves for cards in the 1950s. The total retail value of that box is not more than 2000. Most of the big names you have are low-grade or miscut raws that are difficult to sell. The few midgrade stars barely get you up to 1000. A retailer would be very happy to get $1000 cash for that lot
That Don Gross is from the 1957 Kahn's Wieners set. 29 Cards Total, Came in packages of meat hence the staining. Cool set.
Real good find.
I think you got a fair deal. Lots of 56 and 57. Aaron's cards should get you a good chunk back. I would have paid that grand for sure. Thanks for the experience. Roman Mejias yeah...
“Suggestive card….., EDDIE MATHEWS!…..”. So funny nice work
I think it's a win/win for both sides. Really enjoyed seeing those.
Awesome find! Lots of Hall of Famers and stars! Love the vintage baseball, especially the 50's cards! I'd put 'em in a nicer box and keep 'em all! 😀 But definitely replace the penny sleeves. 😝 Favorite card would be either the 1958 Hank Aaron All-Star or the 1958 Mickey Mantle All-Star! (Love both those cards equally! Too tough to pick one over the other!!) 😍😍😍 I have a graded, VG example of the '58 Aaron All-Star, and it's one of the gems of my collection. Hope to someday pick up the '58 Mantle All-Star!
Awesome cards!!!!
Awesome 1956 Roosevelt Brown Rookie
That Montana RC looks really clean 👍
Lots of 57’s that like you said would make a great starter set, the star cards like Aaron, Williams, Mantle, Berra, Killebrew and Sonny J / Bart Starr football cards make this worth a grand 8n my opinion, nice video
Best part of that box is how shyt-kicked most of those cards are. Some kid had a lot of fun with those cards back in the day.
I would definitely be getting those cards graded! $1,000 was a decent price. But plenty of meat on the bone!

Considering PSA’s grading fees, I don’t see much here worth submitting.

@@franke981 Grading The Bart Starr, Jorgunsen, Yogi, Williams, Mantle at bulk grading price will well cover the 1000 bucks alone. The decent condition, high number cards wont be hard to move in a lot. Also, he can sell all the 1957 cards as solid starter set. Doubling his money shouldn't be too hard with this box
Very nice find
Great find for sure.
That Mantel All Star card is my favorite ever
Well worth the $1000. Awesome 58 mantle and 56 Williams. Nice sonny jurgensen rookie too. Love seeing that collection.
Nice lot!!! I love the 58 Football! I'm working on the 58 Football set and have the Jim Brown outta the way along with about 40 others. I'd possibly be interested in 1 ea of the 58 Football cards.
Wish more of these boxes would come out to the light.
The big Jackie Robinson card and other big card is an Exhibit card. Oh just heard you say that after typing that ... Great box!
As far as the football cards: I believe the oversized Steelers cards are Police cards but I might be mistaken. Chuck Bednarik and Les Richter are Hall of Famers. Of course, very nice Montana and Jurgensen rookies. And with the Mantle, Aaron, and Williams cards, a nice buy overall in my humble estimation.
Jon, I collect Robinson. I’d be interested in the Exhibit. Looks about VG range. I think $150 would be fair in that shape, Raw. Let me know!

1k is right around what I would pay on this lot. Fair for both parties. $750-1k in a handful of star cards then commons are your profit margin.
Always loved the 58 all star cards. I've got the Aaron and Mantle too.
Absolutely
17:19-That player once came into a game in relief, then hit two 3 run homers.
I’ve been watching your videos for years and your brothers this is by far the best video I’ve ever seen you produce in my opinion so the thousand dollars for great contact is probably worth it but the thousand dollars to buy the cards was a baseball card fan end of the rainbow . As a car dealer if you value your labor at all you’re not gonna make any money on this. But is all us baseball card fans no baseball cards are labor of love. And who wouldn’t pay $1000 for endless hours of Love good luck on selling them and thank you so much for all your contacts it’s fun to watch

As far as the price I would’ve paid I would’ve lowballed at $300 and had to walk away at 500 like I said from a business standpoint you’re not gonna make much more than $1000 off the lot. You might make a little bit more if you think the markets going up but anybody that’s paying attention knows it’s going down. That’s why you’re kinda have to walk away at $500. But being a KZreadr making an awesome contact any more fans can’t put a price on that
Great buy!!! Would love to add those Dodgers cards to my collection!!!
1957 for the Don Gross.
Yeah I think you got a fair deal. Some really beautiful cards in there.
Good buy, better than buying modern. Buying modern is akin to flushing money down the toilet.

Agreed!
Your Dorne Dibble is from 1956 Topps. Nice vintage collection!
I think you did fine for a grand. You will get your money back, with some extra. Part of the grand is also the fun having going through them.
Great video! I think it will be a decent amount of work to get your money back. Probably a little too high considering all the condition problems. 500-750 seems more appropriate. But keep these coming. Love the vintage finds.
you failed to notice any of the banned ads on the walls in the background of some of the cards.
Nice pickups
12:24 You got some 1956 Topps Round-Up or RoundUp. 80 card set. Nice looking cards.
Nice grab! These old cards are getting harder to find. Not great shape but the money was fair for both. If you want to sell them you will make a little profit I think! Nice!
I think the value is there, though I would've hoped for slightly better conditions on some of the cards. I probably would have swung for this as well.
Hell yeah I would do it for the Ted Williams, Mantle and Hank Arron. I bought a binder back in 2007 it was loaded and now just 1 card is worth more than I paid for the whole thing
Yes. For the Ted Williams alone.
The Gary Anderson Steelers card is a RC and is from a the 1983 Steelers police set
The Jackie Robinson post-card is from 1947 exhibits set #W461. a 351-card set, came five cards to a pack sold for .10$ each. The Jackie Robinson is valued at $60.00, a nice haul for the price.
Sweet pick up, I know I would’ve paid the 1000 smackaroos for that lot. That Mantle is very nice and the Aaron too. If you wanna get rid of the Gifford with the 49ers on back LMK I pc him and others from Bakersfield 😉 great video, thanks for sharing
Id say that was a nice lil find ;-)
Nice pickup for 1k. Look at the '57 Gene Baker. I believe there is a correct, and error variations.
John , Montana rc's are all about the centering. And that one you have is extremely nice centering. Not perfect but pretty good. It's probably worth a nice chunk of change. The football cards are all big-time money. Worth more than what you paid for everything just in the football
I'm with most people I don't think it was a great deal or a bad deal kinda in the middle ...
You did fine, will make a profit
it feels like someone already picked those over and left the prominent cards that had damage and took the really nice cards to either sell online or for themselves.
A thousand for that! Montana rookie, many nice condition vintage,hi#'s would really add value or unmarked checklists. Yeah, early on you missed 2 NFL legends,Chuck Bednarik and Lou Groza but had some other very good ones! I would guess 5 thousand is the value, commons in great shape add up in value!
12:46 1956 Topps Davy Crockett Orange back set.
Exhibit Cards are quite nice. Some have red back with stats and are pretty valuable
That Dorne Dibble is 1956 Topps. First year for them to have football cards.
Great deal for sure
there's some stuff in there worth having for sure, but we're going to need to see the psa results if you go that route. the mantle raw is about a $100-125 card raw. the 55 Williams about the same in that condition. the 58 yogi looks sharp. psa 6 would go for $250. raw that's probably another hundo. the exhibit Robinson is a heartbreaker. probably $150 raw in that shape on a decent day. some of the names in this are great but the condition is rough so those are going to be $30-50 cards depending on how the auction goes. the bart starr , matthews and aparicio are like that. I probably would have tried to get them down a bit off that number, but you'll get that back. my advice is to not sell those big name bad condition cards on ebay and get better prices in your shop. people will pay for eye appeal even if it's a poor grader.

Vagrant, you are what's depressing about card collecting.
The other football year mixed in are 1956 Topps. Roosevelt Brown you have there is a RC for a hall of famer lineman
Wow! Very much worth whatever you paid!
I have no idea what that Hudson card really is but it's freaking sweet. I love cars, could I buy that one from you?
Jon Arnett was in a Marlboro cigarette commercial running back a kickoff for a TD
The Toe ! Lou Groza nice card !
17:41 I have seen the 191-card Topps World On Wheels set as a 1954 or 1954-55 release.
