Was the Harley Davidson CVO Road Glide ST the bike for me? We got the chance to enjoy a 2024 ‪@harleydavidson‬ CVO Road Glide ST for a few weeks and it's an amazing bike. It's worth the hype and the investment for sure. I am not in the market till later this year, but it's going to be a hard choice when the time comes!

DUDE, I had an 85 FLHTC with the batwing fairing. I had a cigarette lighter, and an AM/FM/Cassette on a bracket with the speakers attached through drilled holes through the fairing. I also had a Kawasaki KZ 1100 with the Vetter fairing, saddlebags, and trunk. I feel so old now, lol.

Now that I’m older, I decided to add some tunes to my bike. I have a ‘17 RK and put the Boss 1k watt, 4 speaker, Bluetooth system on my ride. Two speakers on the handlebars, and two on the engine guards. Easy to install, costs less than $200 on Amazon, and me and the Mrs. enjoy music when we want too. The low end is a little thin, but still enjoyable to listen to while riding. Just a suggestion.

I prefer analog gauges over digital. Sure I would like more than 40 horsepower. 80 horsepower is good for me. I'll take standard forks but give me duel disk. I don't need a stereo or any other electronics. I don't need a top bag either. I've done multi-state tours on various bikes. You can pretty much store on anything as long as you can get comfortable and you're able to pack the things you need.

Need a key to open the little storage area and the gas tank. Here is a life hack, but extra keys and some radio knobs. Cut the key to length needed and heat it and press it into the knob and melt it into them. Fill the back with some epoxy and there you go a key, just put it in the gas lid and leave it. Pull up to pump and just turn the knob to open LOL A common Goldwinger mod. I have done to my gas tank. Be safe, have fun.

So close that i actually AVOID the dealership lol What i wanna know is - Can i get those "frame slider" style crash bar (front an rear) on a non CVO SG? Love my 2010 Road King, most of the time I'm just fine with it not having a stereo or hands free cell capabilities. Hell, I didn't even have windshield the first couple years I had it. I'm the third owner so I'm guessing the windshield it came with is sitting forgotten in the back of one of the first two owners garage or basement. Having said that, if I should happen to come across a fairing that uses the existing QD windshield mount for easy install/removal with a plug and play stereo built in for the right price i would most likely get it for all day rides and long trips.

As you were going over the old Harley bits, nothing surprising. That was the 80’s. Then you said the engine had 50hp, and I was like WTF? I thought by then those engines were putting out around 70hp. My 05 Sportster put out 57hp and that bike probably weighs half as much as your bike. Can’t believe 50hp can move that bike with two people on it.

The direction of Royal Enfield is something HD should be looking at very closely. It’s about expanding the desire of motorcycling and making the bikes affordable to entry motorcyclists. JMHO…

I have not had issues in the wind on the my Batwing bikes, newest being a ‘20 Ultra Limited, oldest being a 1981 FLH with Batwing fairing, saddlebags and tour pack, as well as a few more Batwings in between. I live in New Mexico and have taken that I-40 route numerous times. I have also done I-40 from New Mexico to the Laughlin River Run a couple dozen of times, occasionally in wind so bad that semi’s were flipped on their sides. Before you ask “have you even ridden a Sharknose”, I have. For me, other than looks, and the fact that the Sharknose fairing is way out there in the “north 40”, they felt the same when riding them, both from slow speed to on the interstate in the wind.

My Evo Sportster chopper is cool, but hardtails are nice to look at, not the best to ride. I happen to love that Liberator. I like things that are bulky and ugly, you should see my ex.
