Remove the dpf, jet wash both ways for 10 minutes. Worked for me 18 months later no issues 👌
To be fair to the brackets they can't predict how the old ones will brake exactly so they have to assume all of it is gone. That way you can remove some if needed

Great videos Dean. It has generated a lot of useful information for DIY owners who are having similar issues. A great workhorse for someone with lots of life left in it👍😎
What I'd do: 1. Ensure thermostats are working properly. If not, replace. 2. You need at least 1/4 of fuel tank to allow for DPF regen. I'd go for more than that. 3. Check for DPF pressure sensor DPF pipes splits. 4. DPF and EGR are connected via software, you could look into potential problems with the EGR. 5. If nothing helps, I'd evaluate the option of the previous owner having tried removing the DPF (DPF delete) and reprogram the ECU to disregard regen cycles. If they weren't successful, they could've put everything back together in the car but not revert the ECU programming changes. IF this turns out to be the case, you'll need a stock ECU reprogramming. 🍻

My Fiesta wouldn't do DPF regen, kept going into limp mode, total nuisance. Had the turbo reconditioned and the DPF deleted - end of trouble. The company doing the work told me that the DPF is the biggest problem - they never see non-DPF cars and DPF deletion is their default action. Apparently the inside of my DPF had collapsed under the weight of oil that had got past the seals in the turbo (something like that).
Dean, mine does 60 MPG to Cornwall from Oxfordshire. 79,000 miles. They are brilliant cars and love mine. Id keep mine forever but want a MK2 Focus RS. Joys of mid life haha. Keep up the great work mate.
Good job Dean, enjoyed the content, well done.
If you've replace the sensor you need to drive it for a while for it to adapt(even having done vcds adaptation) try and keep it higher revving, use 4th on the faster bits rather than 5th/6th. Get some miles on it and it will let you force regen after a while....
thankyou Dean,,and some brilliant comments to consider, hats off to the community here,,👌👍🙏🙏
Absolutely brilliant once again Dean
Was just about to comment saying do the wrap by panel each day, keeps you focussed and you won’t feel like rushing it. Do other jobs around it and before you know it will all be done and looking mint 👌🏻
If the DPF is cracked inside it won't regen. Stick a camera down there and take a look. Alternatively remove the DPF and get the ecu re-mapped to remove the DPF option. It will still pass an mot no problem.
great video and project overall. Enjoyed that
Think you have done well overall with the car fella especially if other ones are over 6grand and it is frustrating with the pdf when you can't make it do what it's supposed to do but sure you will get there well done
Great work mate! Maybe consider wrapping it in blue :) they look way batter in that colour. Keep the great job! Cheers.
Nice job Dean. Hope you get to the bottom of the dpf issue.
Any updates on the TVR? Absolutely busting for the next vid
Hi Dean, i own a 2016 VRS 2.0tdi. i hhave over 260k miles(i use it for taxi). so long story short , with the DPF issue . I had the exact problem, went on all the forums, nothing . after checks and checks i figured it out. pressure sensor Bank 3 was gone but no error on Vcds if you put then on you may see that are all in good parametres but in my case bank 3 was stuck on the value .. so i changed the sensor and it worked for me . also check the oil ash volume that is was block your DPF not the soot mass hope it will help
I had the same issue on my MK7 Golf GT and I just did a Dpf and egr delete. Didn’t smoke and power was restored.
My brother had the same problem with his car and even tho the soot values were low enough the problem was a build-up of ash!! He eventually had to replace the DPF.
Check that rear heated screen works and wing mirrors if your spec has them check the fuses also then check that the rad fan cuts in as well
For em to dpf regen car fuel O2 sensors after be in range try keeping it in shorter gear so the revs sit between 2 to 3k should cause it's self to force regen
Had same problem on Audi A1. Would not regen. Spent weeks head scratching. In the end I just reset the values as if a new DPF had been fitted then drove on the motorway repeatedly. It then regenerates on it's own with no codes present. No need to replace the pressure sensor without a code.
Brilliant as usual.
Looking good the pdfs are a pain had the same problem on A vow golf . Good luck 🤞
Recently bought a 2.0tdi yeti with a dpf issue. Auto Gen wasn't happening. Checked sensors etc. Bought a can of Archoil 6400 put the can in and 40litres of bew diesel. 40 min drive up and down the motorway and light cleared and soot levels were good.
Great work and nice car!
I can’t wait to see it wrapped 👏🏻👏🏻
My golf had a similar issue with its dpf, predicted soot was under the max but would refuse to regen, I managed to sort it out by resetting it by leaving the battery off overnight, seemed happy after that

we have had 2 skoda octavia 2.0tdi's mk3.5 you cant force a regen you have to drive 10 miles with rpm between 2000-3000 rpm
Had a VRS for 5 years best car i have ever driven never broke down once.
Great fix Dean 👌
you were inserting that DPF cleaner tube a long way down which is strange because on my skoda the dpf combe starts a few inches after the sensor. I was surprised how far down you were able to go. Can you stick a camera in there to check if it hasn't been gutted?
Think about buying a plastic Welder (Leister) for fixing all your brackets….. I fix them steady, also it will fix your bumpers.
I had this DPF problem with my Audi A3, I couldn’t get it to do a force regen. I had a company come out and flush a load of cleaner through it which fixed it

KZread won’t let me post the link for some reason, but on the Ross tech 2.0 cr tdi wiki it shows the options and codes for resetting the dpf carbon and ash mass. I’d try these.
Great video interesting content. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
A pain in a*se with the headlight brackets cutting and trimming yes, but a helluva lot cheaper for sure. 👍
Check turbo and check for cracks in the rubber pipes, i had the same issue turns out it wasn't the DPF it was just loss of pressure to the turbo because the rubber pipe was ripped.
Assuming that everything else is working, it might be the DPF has got too much ash in it and the ash doesn't burn off hence blocking it alot easier . I had the DPF light come on my SQ5, i took the DPFs off and back flushed them with just water until all the red ash came out, took it for a motorway drive and within a couple mins the light went off, thats been nearly a year and the light hasn't come back on. It is a pain in the arse taking the 2.0tdi DPFs out but luckily the SQ5 ones were under the car, however it is worth doing. I did alot of research on them and basically everything else has to be working or it wont regen. I do hope u read this as this method seems to go unnoticed and everyone just concentrates on force regen and DPF cleaners when all u need is water and a backflush. Good luck 👍🏻
You need over a quarter a tank of diesel for the car to do a field regen after it is up to temp, unsure if a forced regen has the same fuel requirement
@ramondicarrera2772
Жыл бұрын
I thought it was more than half a tank?
Needs to be under 45 grams soot 90 degrees 1/4 tank of fuel minimum do an injector minimum deviation see if this works its not happy with something did you zero the values for the pressure sensor
Dpf off, block further end, fill with acid based tfr and water, leave for few years then pressure wash honeycomb internals, if still dark repeat, blow out with compressed air and reinstall on car. If modifying parameters doesn't help and the car isn't reading the DPF and EGR is there, either it could of been remapped or something else isn't meeting regeneration parameters. That's my two pence anyway I could be wrong.
Brilliant Especially On The VCDS What Chance Have Guys Or Girls Who Want To Keep Their Cars Its All Stacked Against You When You Buy
Pressure sensor tubes can get blocked, especially if it’s DPF been blocked previously.
Check the Pre and post Pressure of the DPF on VCDs on idle, then rev it to 1500rpm, if the pressure drops less then say 100/50kpa then the DPF has been gutted, you should see a significant increase in pressure on VCDS, get this all the time, VCDS will not regen a gutted DPF
Get the DPF gutted and map it. Saves messing around. Car will run so much better and live longer.
You need a new DPF differential pressure sensor which needs to be adapted to the car - Basic Settings
Dean when you find a solution will it be in the next video I had an issue with a seat ibiza 1.6tdi few years ago ended up chopping the car in as all I was being told in the end was gut dpf and map it out!
I'd take off the dpf and run it in for a re gen check number 2 post dpf sensor
take a log of the dpf forced regen and send it to ross tech they have a help line they can look at the log and tell you whats wrong or give you guidence on what to do i have used there help before it's their software they should point you in the right direction otherwise get someone to clean the dpf hope this helps cheers from down under
Have you checked the level of the fluid that squirts into the fuel every time you opening cap to refuel . Black fluid I think it's under back of car next to fuel tank as it holds 1 litre and should last life of car without running empty. It it does it will stop you doing regen .. I had it on a Ford cmax.
Great - loving this... until the shakes or should it be the squits (i know yu get paid for it tho) - great for snacking, protein, great for energy boosts for during the day, but disclaimer rqd. - no substitute for fruit, veg and main meals :)
All headlight bracket kits require the original bracket to be removed... they occupy the same space. Dremel is your new best friend 😊
Oh trust me, it pays to let a professional wrap your car, I paid $3500 to get full paint correction & wrap done on my GR Yaris, well worth it, Rj in Oz
Dpf issues are the bane of my life sadly. Had tried everytning to clear my sprinter one ended up just cutting it open and drilling multiple holes in it and welding but together and mapping it at way if vosa check it at side of the road it looks fine
There are companies that clear DPFs off the car in a special machine - they literally connect to a high pressure lines and flush them with hot water (with some chemicals maybe) so probably give one of them a go or get some quotes.
If you need help with figuring out the programming of the ecu. Im here to help. Like your content and want to see the car running again.
Someone hasn't tried to map out dpf. See if you can try different computer we have 4 different ones and sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Good luck 🤞
Dean I had the same thing with the dpf re gen ... need at least half a tank of diesel or it just won't do it
I'd check if the DPF has been gutted as allot of people gut DPFs but don't map it off the ECU.
i have heard of cars having issues with the bag/tank of DPF fluid or the sensors for level or temperature... i am still trying to understand DPF's i get the idea but seems so much that can go wrong. i have a 2013 pug 308 sw 1.6 E-HDI (turbo) which apparently has a different system to do same thing... no idea if mine has ever done a regen, i might try a manual clean (water) at some point to see what its like
Recently salvage rebuilds channel they had a range rover which wouldn't do the re gen and they gave it to a workshop they said if the dpf has a crack in it it won't re gen
My DPF light came on my 2012 FABIA. Did 40 motorway miles doing 70 in 4th gear and it came off
I had the same thing with the vcds where it wouldn't let me regen so I used my delphi scanner and it let me do the regen
Think you've got the bigger 340mm petrol brakes on that car which is a nice bonus.
Rather then keep trying to regen take dpf off, cap one end fill with carbon oven cleaner, leave for 24 hours, then pressure washer it out then dry it out put back on car 👌 use to do this all the time with mine when needed. The dpf itself needs de carbon.
Do you have more than ¼ tank of fuel? I use carista app for my forced regens and never had any issues.
Hello. How did you change the grill? It would have been quite interesting to see that. Thanks
When the computer says running DPF region could you not just stick your foot on the Excelerator and hold it at high revs?
It’ll be the glow plug fault. Some systems use the glow plugs to raise the initial heat.
As i said in the laat video . security access 27971 Reset ash level ( which will reset soot levels as well). Then perform regen . If either the calculated or measured are above 45g . Regen is disabled. I'd do "regeneration while driving" option

4th gear on motorway for 20 miles or 15 mins keep revs above 2500rpm should force it to regen if not you can get someone to do a terraclean cost about £150 they clean dpf, injectors, egr had mine cleaned at 90k miles will be doing it again at 180k
Good luck 🙏🙏
I had similar on a Crafter, i never noticed there are 3 login codes on VCDS only one is for the regen. Failing that use ODIS.
DPF CLEANING - I have a 2l d too and I had a faulty glow causing it to not regen, are your glow plugs all good?
You are in budget cause you done almost all the work. For an average guy who doesn't know anything about car repairing is a certain loss.
Or, if other engine components such as EGR valves, turbochargers, injectors are fouled or not working properly.
I had a similar problem on an Octavia 2 FL 2010. If the DPF has outreached the filling limit then the forced regeneration will do nothing. You can verify your fuel injectors and try to chemically wash the DPF. This was the solution for me. Hope it will help 😅
