I grew up on a small farm in rural Rhode Island and the shallow dug well lined with stones kept 12 people and animals with plenty of water. We had a couple of snakes die in it and had to pump it out and clean it a few times so I feel your pain. I’m happy for you that you have this simple convenience to make your life better. Your family is awesome that you all come together and help each other with big projects because that is so rare nowadays with everyone being so busy.

Don't you just love men who can do the hard work and have the expertise and knowledge to get the job done? Thank you uncle Denis and John for helping Lisette to get water on her land. You crawling down into that well was amazing. When I was a child we used to walk inside pipes like that in our borough for miles. Never thought about danger or anything bad happening to us. Too young and stupid, I guess. What a great video! You deserve that well and the convenience of it bringing water to you. Oh wow Lissette, I can now add that I cry at the opening of a well😂 yes I burst into tears when the water was pumping out and I was screaming of happiness for you. What an ordeal, all that digging and tons of work paid off I'm so happy for you and your fur babies. Do you have to have an inspector come to see if the water is drinkable? Looks like a blueberry pie coming up and running water for clean up. You can sure tell your an adventurous soul climbing down in that well. Myself, when I seen the snakes that would have been it for me. Don't care anything about them. I'm happy to see you finally got water. Why didn't you go ahead and put a pump in there and run a waterline to the cabin. Winter time gets here you'd enjoy having that in the cabin with you. Add check valve at the foot valve so you won’t loose the prime.

Awww, bless you John. My parents also had a hand pump for the well… and one for the cows too. We had 2 wells. I plan on draining it again and I’ll have it tested too. My uncle Denis is a good man and my aunt too! Always willing to help. ❤

❤, Nice job! Once the well is tested and proven safe to drink I'd suggest running a bead of sealant around the metal plate to prevent bugs from entering the well.

Another option would be foam sill gasket. Easier, less permanent for plate removal and the periodic cleanings of the well.

Dear Lisette, We are so happy thst you got your well going! After a little time your well water will just keep getting better. Have it tested and I bet ut will be good enough to drink. At the very least good for washing and cooking. Must mention the blue berries. Do nice to have close to home, do good gir your health. Again your cinematography skills are excellent. Yes, I am an Aquarian 😉 I will still need to carry water during the winter months but I’m okay with this. I also plan on installing a submersible pump next year and see if I can get run a pipe to the cabin. Will be lots of digging. I feel so blessed to have my uncle and my aunt around…I miss my dad as he used to help me out 😢 My uncle and John did an amazing job, we had so many laughs. This was a fun project to work on. Beautiful opening as always. Grew up on a 30-foot-deep hand dug, field stone lined well. Best water ever. this will serve you well. The drain hole is also the pump head won't freeze in the winter. Love your jeans. It is great to have water closer and under your control. Stay safe and well Lisette.
