The first thing you PH vloggers should tell guys is; DO NOT Sell your house back home! (if you own one). Remember 70% of expats return home within five years. The "Paradise Syndrome there gets old real fast. I couldn't handle it after five years but when I moved back to the western US I was homeless and prices had skyrocketed. I would also add; Use the online dating sites but DO NOT think a girl you've never met in person is your one & only true love. Chances are you are being scammed.

I was in Duma 11 months ago (August 2023) for 2 weeks. I like the place and am looking forward to going back. One big plus on my side is that I know a bit of Tagalog and the people really appreciated that fact. Some of my favorite times were sitting around saying hello to the locals in their language and then sometimes (not always) they would invite me to sit with them for a while. My advice, learn good morning, good afternoon, good night, how much, ok, yes, delicious.

And will only get worse now that mobile phones and internet have become so cheap and widespread. Eventually the Philippines will be like America but with worse infrastructure.

@@frankcentofanti9317 That's because a lot of expats hang out in malls coz they have almost everything one needs there. It's a good safe place to chill, watch people go by, kill time, meet up with friends over a cup of coffee etc. With the kind of climate we have in the Philippines they're a godsend coz you can get free AC and some places even free wifi. In a power outage or storm they're a good place to seek shelter at least temporarily coz they have their own generators. You don't have to buy anything there if you don't want to.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I have noticed that most of the vloggers seem to be living in large communities and for the most part hang out with other American vloggers. I have also noticed that their knowledge covers the area they live in and has nothing to do with the remainder of the Philippines. My wife and I had a LTR but we video chatted three times a day for one to two hours. I too am a country boy and my wife is a country girl. She sold her house and little store to buy the property and I have been road building, building our house, building our farm and many other things. I am in my third year here and I have never communicated with another foreigner, nor have I been to a single tourist spot. There are many things I did not know about because nobody talked about them. For the most part I wasted a lot of time looking at videos trying to learn about the Philippines. Most of the vloggers are more like real estate agents. We live out in the province on Leyte Island.

My wife of 11 years is from Cebu. Age appropriate. I retired (well) 2 years ago and have asked her multiple times if she wants us to relocate to even a nice and exclusive area of the Philippines. She has been emphatic in NO.Pre internet it was a dream place. But: with all people glued to their I phones and dreaming of the false lives shown on the internet it's no longer a great place. Also seeing a long list of assorted scams taking place there.Wife is the person bringing those to my attention. When looking at those beautiful beaches look a little closer and you'll see the raw sewage from any home, resort,or business near that beautiful beach flowing directly into the waters. Go to any river where people have access and you'll see those same people using the river to dispose of their sewage and garbage. Next: if a person limits their activity and interactions they can do OK. If they don't they will soon see they have a huge "I'm a westerner/rich American" target on their forehead and back.

If you are a little more bold and find creative ways to meet someone I believe you will find someone good.

It is bad now, using lightning filters on their videos and outrageous thumbnails. Seeing these thumbnails would lead anyone to believe all Philippine girls are 10+. And yes, based solely on KZread vloggers, most will come away highly disappointed I suspect. There is good and bad here, just like anywhere else. This ain't Kasas Toto! The Philippines of 30 years ago before the Internet took over and white faces were scarce is long gone. Some things are the same as home. Some things are upside down. For someone to be successful here, you will need to be highly adaptable and flexible. You must be able to accept what is, rather than what you want it to be. That being said I am here by choice. I can live anywhere in the world I want... I'm here because I love the Philippines and it's people. This is now my home, and as my permanent residency is currently being processed, I will be eternally grateful to the Philippines and it's people for welcoming me to build a new life here.

I knew my Filipina for 4 years before we got married. The bloggers make it sound like lying on a beautiful beach and 100’s of Filipinas waiting on you and begging to be with you. Lol 😂 if your running from problems, I hate to say this, but you will just find additional problems here to go with your other problems. All I can say is make sure you have enough cash to fly back home lol 😂 because most leave within 5-7 years. And I actually believe it’s most likely 2-3 years for them to leave. Also inflation has hit the Philippines just as hard as the U.S. food prices are just as high as the US and most American foods are more expensive

If more come there and leave - than - come there and stay (?) seems like many cheap areas will remain for some time ? --- About like buying a new pair of shoes..... try them on 1st ! --- For me I'm thinking about Siem Reap as an "ideal retirement destination" - rather than the Philippines ? Their "retirement visa" is best - cheap easy and you never have to leave Cambodia. Several US expats enjoying life there on about $750 -- $800/mo. for basic living expenses. Food is awesome - from cheap delicious street food with 50 cent beer - to high end international choices ! A great place if you don't cook. (!) Rentals appear to provide more for the money and more come furnished than in the Philippines. And - - - the people - are as friendly as Filipinos and believe in Karma. Welcoming genuine and most speak English in the city - where menus & business signs are also in English. They even accept the USD ! -- -- -- I'm ready to try it on for size and see how it fits. -?- Give it a year for a really good try ? 🤔 What the hell - Bangkok is a cheap 1 hour flight away for some fun or world class medical services. K L Malaysia is also a cheap easy flight away. (!) -- -- -- Your - Philippines aren't going anywhere ! 🤗

Government was mailing out checks like there was no tomorrow so a lot of people were loving that shit getting thousands and thousands of dollars mailed to them while they sat at home and watched movies.

I actually came over in 2007 and you could pick up any girl you want just snap your fingers and if she was a perfect she was all over you fast forward to 2024. It’s not like that anymore because every Tom Dick and Harry that’s a foreigner is coming over here. You see back in 2007. You were hard pressed to find another foreigner around anywhere When you came over, but it’s not like that no more you can’t turn around corner without running into a foreigner so now they’re everywhere and they’ve actually spoiled the very place that I referred to as Puss heaven, but it doesn’t surprise me every time there’s some kind of paradise out there in the worldand someone catches on and finds out about it before you know it every Tom Dick, and Harry is catching a flight to that place and then it doesn’t become paradise anymore

foreign vloggers love to come to the philippines first. why? because when you are starting out with only 23 subscribers to your name, the easiest jump in subscriber count from zero to 20,000 will be in the philippines especially if you travel around. it's easy to load up on filipino subscribers, then you move on after that with a legit subscriber base to other places. it works like magic.

I am a Philippine born and I visited the Philippines for the first time in 24 years and I can tell you about my experience. I’ve watched so many KZread before heading there and I was excited about the whole thing so I decided to book a round trip and stayed there for 6 weeks! I can honestly say that my experience of visiting ilocos Norte, Manila, bagiou and ilocos sur is a third world country. I stayed in BGC the first three days and my thought was ok but I did not trust the vegetables. I tried some of the Japanese soup and they were served very cold…the taste was not even nearly as what I thought and it was a waste of money. Even the Starbucks green tea macha was not like what we have in the states. I’ve heard lots about Tagaytay so we went there for a day. Let me tell you about the place…I think it is a very beautiful place but the people made it look like “shit”. Traffic was soooo bad… only one lane and the views were mixed with ugly and beautiful. Anyway…it is a third world country and don’t expect much. Personally, I would not live there because of the humid and hot weather and very dirty. I had nightmares for days when I got back in the states. This is just my opinion and experience so don’t get mad at me

I just came back to the us after a year. I will not go into the details, but if you're a person who isn't drowning in patience, the Philippines is not for you. Just one example of MANY....7 months after selling a vehicle I had purchased to a local, and I still get calls from him wanting help getting his tag. I bounced around to various cities...... Tagaytay, Iloilo, Davao City, Coron. A word of advice......... if you think you're going go there and live on $1,500 a month, buy your return ticket now because you are going to need it. Sure, you can go and live in some shack with no a/c and no hot water in the province and get by on $1,000 a month and not go anywhere or do anything..... but the truth is, you can do that in the US.

I wanted to fly to LA, but it is too hot to put a dog in cargo out of Tampa. I catch my flight to Cebu on Wednesday and not looking back. I am not going for the Filipinas, I am coming because America is becoming toxic and inflation is killing us seniors. I have to work full-time and the only thing that kept me here was my mother. She died in December, that is when I started looking at Thailand. I lived there for 9 years in the 80s and 90s and loved every second of it even though I was just a broke English teacher. The English is what drove me to settle for the Philippines. I took all the vloggers with a grain of salt.
