Was Gutting My WRX Worth It???

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Let me know in the comments below if you want to see in detail how you can shave weight on your own build and I will show you what I did.
1000% it was worth gutting the WRX! The lighter the car is the better it will handle, the faster it will be with less power. Shaving weight even helps the reliability of your build.
The WRX only makes 340WHP but feels and sounds like an absolute rocket! Pumped we shaved at least 200lbs off and since its not my daily the sacrifices are totally worth it.

    My GDB peanut 2003 sti jdm Spec c weighed the same with no STi wing with whatever sound deadening came with the car.. (it has lighten glass and doors with all 4 windows working and ac / heater) So your car is spot on! Great job!

    340whp is not bad my man I have 390whp with full interior and a large sub box, car is still extremely fast on the backroads. I would love to swap my sub to my truck and strip the interior though. Nice car BTW

    Please I would like that video. Also, you can check team O’Neal rally school video they have a video for how to prep a rally car by getting rid of all stuff you don’t need and you can actually take off quite lot of useless sheet metal inside if car, some of them on chassis just for anchoring passenger seats etc

    When I sold WRXs in 2001 they weighed 3084lbs. The 3200 figure is for the STi. Cusco had a GC8 they got down to 1000lbs without any carbon panels.

    I wouldn't consider that to have less resale value if all the interior parts are included with a sale . That's a different type of car that only a few will understand and actually want to drive . But that's a good thing 👍

    My car is full straight pipe to a invidia n1 race with equal length headers and ported heads it was unrealistically loud with the rear seats out I had to put them back in because I would get a headache just from the sound after like a half hour of driving or I needed ear plugs not to mention I couldn’t hear the radio if I was cursing no matter the volume

    Hey bro I got a question that's important I hope you can get back to me as soon as you can it would be very appreciated but when doing a setup like yours did that intake manifold fit right onto the ej20 short block & head or did it you have to do customize it I was thinking you'd be able to bolt up and use pretty much any ej 20 Motors as long as you put the new style intake manifold and ran a different ECU

  • @Supertuner

    @Supertuner

    4 жыл бұрын

    Mine is USDM WRX heads and manifold the engine is symmetrical so you can rotate the manifold and bolts line up. You do have to run new vacuum lines, figure out your intercooler situation and a slew of other things. Long story short it will boot up but requires a ton of little modifications to everything on or around it.

    Every 10lbs is equivalent to around a 1hp increase. (When you've done all the math involved.)... In a honda that's a huge difference. In an already quick and powerful car like this, it makes a HUGE difference. It completely changes the car! Even 100lbs would be noticeable.

    @@layesse1 Exactly. People laugh... Until they take their car for a spin! Even taking out my spare tire changes the way my car takes corners. For example, find a big friend who weighs more than 200lbs. Go down the road and back, and then make him get out. You'll instantly notice the difference! It's the same reason jockeys (horseback racers) are meant to be small framed men. The less weight the better, for maneuverability, weight transfer, starting and stopping quickly. It even produces less wear for the horses (or cars). It's the reason a 250hp honda can smoke a 400+hp dodge charger on a straightaway or a track. Weight matters significantly my friend!

    Yes and no. I’ve done it on my old Toyota Altezza which only made 160hp or so. I didn’t even do a full gut. Just rear seats, spare tire, tools in the trunk, and that’s about it. But it still made the car slightly faster for a 0-100kph and still felt more nimble. It was definitely louder and pretty ugly looking so I re-installed it all, but if all you care about is performance, I’d say it’s totally worth it
