Ksawery Cepeniuk yeah I've read up a lot on the warsaw uprising. I'm just so memorized by those who resisted. Real heroes. I mean to hold out for 63 days even though they started with with only 3 days worth of ammunition is just incredibly impressive. I've also read up on the dirlewanger brigade.. a penal battalion full of rapists and murderers who committed terrible atrocities in warsaw. What an awful man was dirlewanger. At least he met a fitting end, killed in his jail cell by polish guards

Ksawery Cepeniuk I read somewhere that during the battle, some of dirlewanger's men captured a makeshift hospital where polish nurses were caring for wehrmacht soldiers. The injured wehrmacht soldiers pleaded with dirlewanger's men not to kill the polish nurses... Not only did they kill the nurses but they also killed the injured german men.

German officers like Dirlewanger were many many more. The most sad thing is that after WW2 Poland wasn't free again. From German occupation we get on much more dramatic. On Soviet occuaption on almost 50 years. And aftet almost 50 years, and almost 30 years of post communism Poland maybe look fucking nice but our oconomy will be never fine. That's why a lot of Poles must emigrate to Ireland, Scotland and England. And to other european countries. So fucking sad.

Film Wołyń Smarzewskiego jest filmem zakazanym na Ukrainie. Wiele szkół, budynków administracji rządowej, nosi imię Stepana Bandery. Co roku pod pomnikami mordercy Polaków, składane są kwiaty i oddaje się mu cześć. Pieśń „Baćko nasz Bandera, Ukrajina maty” (ukr. Батько наш - Бандера, Україна - мати; pol. „Ojciec nasz Bandera, Ukraina matka”), oraz pozdrowienie ,,Sława Ukrajini! , odpowiedz: „Herojam sława!” , to nacjonalistyczne Banderowskie pozdrowienie ! Widzę kolego, że masz wielkie zaległości z historii. Mniej telewizji, więcej książek historycznych, bo Cię zmanipulowali jak małego Arturka w przedszkolu.

in 1939, they surrendered for 12 days then served the Germans, and when they approached the Russian English ordered the rebellion to begin. And of course the Russians were then blamed.

Here,where I come from in Scotland there have always been polish names. They guarded the beaches in 1949-41 then their paratroopers were trained here. Many,second names from poland. Thank you poland

Am half Polish(mum's side)...although have a dutch fam.name...I feel stoprocent....Polish..esp. my character...and temperament/crazyness:).. LOL..Grandpa..Henryk..aka Henyek Maksymiak,was with the AK in wwII......got caught outside of Warsaw,first sent to Pawiak...then Gross-Rosen..after the liberation came back homebeaten to death...they had to chop off two legs..and 3 fingers, at then end died of polmonary problems..(smoked like a chimney) ironic isn't it???...but do miss him...somewhere I have all his medals !!!!!!!!!!! POLAND THE BRAVE!!!!..

Wydaje mi się że teraz kontakty między narodowe są lepsze niż kiedykolwiek, więc jeśli była by wojna z jakimiś państwamu europejskimi, to nie sądzę żeby była aż taka rzeźnia i nienawiść jak kiedyś

Polish don't fight like heroes. Heroes fight like Polish. Respect as a Chinese. In Chinese there's a term literally meaning 'seeing death as home', to honor the greatest extent of bravery & sacrifice for fighters. And I think this movie about 1944 Warsaw uprising has depicted probably the best example of that.

It was a terrible slaughter… :( One of many. I KNOW that teens should NOT fight and die in wars, but… but here we are, the Poles, just like THAT! We CAN NOT help it. Many times in history, "we have been shooting the enemy with diamonds" as someone said. As a nation, we may lack of political wisdom often, but NEVER the bravery!! I am born and I will die as a POLE!!

The meaning of the white and red armbands.. according to the Hague Convention the soldier inorder to be recognized as a lawfull combatant must display clear and visible sign of the state allegiance ... in case of getting into enemy's hands must be treated as POW ... hence after 63 days of fighting when Warsaw surrenderred over 15 000 of the Polish Home Army soldiers marched into German captivity.. during that last march past many of the German officers were saluting them .. considering our post WW2 history those Poles were winners as ended up in German POW camps were the provisions of the Hague and Geneva Conventions were observerved and not in the Soviet Gulags where they would ended up if "liberated" by Russians. Most of them as their POW camps were liberated by Allied troops after the war did resettle overseas .. US, Canada, Australia , and have built new happy life ... although unable to go back to the Soviet occupied home ....
