the warsaw uprising

I think this is the simplest and the fastest video that I've ever done. I know the editing isn't great, I had only two after-work days, but I think that it's not really about editing here. It's about the circumstances this video is about.
So, as you can see, The Warsaw Uprising took place exactly 73 years ago and it was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army to liberate capital city from German occupation. Every year, at 5pm this exact day, the time that everything started, you can hear the sirens on the polish streets. It's a sign that we remember, that we all know how a few decades earlier people had the courage to stand up and fight for freedom. They fought, even though they had no guns, no skills, while German soldiers had freaking tanks, not mentioning other things. A lot of the insurgents were kids and teenagers who volunteered to fight. I can't imagine what they all've been through, but it was surely hell on earth. They all lost so much, so many people died. People were hoping that other countries will see their efforts and will help, join the battle to defeat the Nazis. But although the Uprising was the largest single military effort taken by any European resistance movement during WWII, the promised help never came. Everyone thought that it will last only a couple of days and that's it, but it turned to a couple of months, ending in turning Warsaw into dust, bombing the city to destroy everything in there. I have no idea if I'd had the courage to fight like them.
So please let's love each other, war is the worst thing to happen.
About the movie: The scenes I used are from the polish movie Warsaw 44. Well, it's not a typical war movie, because the plot and editing were specifically adapted to match teenagers likings. But I highly recommend it, I promise it will leave you shaken.
And if you're more interested in WWII topic I also recommend great polish tv series Time Of Honor, it's seriously really, really good.

I saw this movie recently on Amazon Prime and it moved me almost to tears. Not many countries have suffered the way Poland has throughout history, but in WWII they were especially brutalized. With the Germans on one side and the Russians on the other, they were caught between two powerful forces and the fact that they survived at all is a testament to their tenacity. They rose up against the Germans and had driven them out of Warsaw when Stalin betrayed them by halting his army at the Vistula and leaving them to be butchered by the SS. Poland, your courage is inspiring.

God bless the polish people and Poland, from a spaniard. So brave men and women, so big heroic acts. Never to be forgotten always to be remembered. I stood before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw the night of 4 january of 2017 during 15 minutes, praying. Two polish soldiers guarding the tomb, it was a really cold night, I feel very proud to have shown my respect and admiration to all who fought for the polish freedom.

@Archi - no, I read interview with director, and he said that all his films are about love. In this case, the genocide serves only as a background to show love. Director needed to show love somewhere, at some time - so he chose Wołyń 1943 as circumstances surrounding the love, but the main thing is still the love.

He was supposed to support the uprising but his unit could'nt push through strong german units between him and warsaw. If they haved dropped Sosobowskis airmen ower warsaw rather let them being shot to pieces over some dumb dutch bridge the general opinion would change and the allies would join soon after with their units and resources.

Not many people realize that the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising was a provocation intended to "regulate" and calm Polish affairs on the international stage. The Polish persistent struggle for independence greatly disturbed everyone, including some groups of influence in the Allied camp. That is why general Sikorski died, therefore the Germans were allowed to unleash the hell in Warsaw and the communists taked controll over Polish lands and the nation. Check this name.: Joseph Rettinger. This is the key to understanding the backstage of the tragedy...at least one of the keys.

Since we're talking about the Warsaw Uprising 44 let's do a bit of a patriotic mood. Skoro mówimy o powstaniu pozwolę sobie dołączyć kilka patriotycznych pieśni z czasów powstania. Let me add some music from the time of the uprising, marches and other songs. I chose these songs which, in my opinion, also have an interesting and important text, especially No. 1,2,5,6,7. I think that many of you can find something interesting for themselves. 1. „Nowa Warszawianka” https//kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIae0tZmocmzl7g.html 2. "Hej chłopcy, bagnet na broń!" https//kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGaew9uOqpPTXc4.html 3. „Pałacyk Michla” kzread.info/dash/bejne/eWWLyKyPos2-fNI.html 4. „Zośka” kzread.info/dash/bejne/o3ZmqryRl8faptI.html 5. „Marsz Mokotowa” kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioB7pseDqZC7ibw.html 6. Go through the mud somewhere inside a tearful world, Carring under the rucksack your bedraggled eighteen years old Nieś po błocie w dal, w zapłakany świat Przemoczone pod plecakiem osiemnaście lat Somewhere far from here , where the night coming again, Dark head of your girl is slowly falling to asleep Gdzieś daleko stąd, noc zapada znów, Ciemna główka twej dziewczyny Chyli się do snu. Maybe just today she looks into murky fog Praying with the hope to save you by merciful God Może właśnie dziś patrzy w mroczną mgłę I modlitwą prosi Boga, by zachował cię Rain, autumnal rain, drums in helmets' steel, You walk - young small soldier far into the unkown. Deszcz, jesienny deszcz, bębni w hełmu stal, Idziesz młody żołnierzyku, gdzieś w nieznaną dal. Rain, slow droping rain chilling his temple well When instead of a bullet he loads a rifle with his heart Deszcz, kroplisty deszcz chłodzi jego skroń Gdy ładuję swoim sercem zamiast kuli broń ..... If somebody has or can do better translation of it let me know please. 7. „Warszawskie dzieci” "Warsaw children" kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6WYydxmj5rPfpM.html 8.

Dzisiaj wystarczy Polakom dać kiełbasę, wódkę i mecz w telewizji, by im dogodzić. Niepodległość jest na dalszym planie.

Am I the only one on this thread who saw this movie as an abomination of cinema and an insult to those who lived through the event? The effects and dramatic overkill of many scenes made me want to break my TV. Especially when the Panther shot the chick at point blank with it's main gun. And I thought Hollywood was bad

Yeah, it could have been more than a love story using the Warsaw Uprising as a backdrop. Maybe, another film producer could do a better job. Season Seven of Days of Honour, a high quality Polish TV series about the Polish Resistance does a better job. As far as I know that apart from Poland this series was shown in Italy, China, and Scotland. Another film production for wide international release might be made to do the Uprising justice. Hollywood would not touch the subject because of Jewish bias against Poland. That said some of the battle scenes were authentic particularly when a booby-trapped tank exploded creating a rain of flesh and body parts. This event was based on many eye witness accounts. But, the story of how the Uprising came about and how it was fought could have been better told using different characters and storylines.

The tank firing at the girl scene is not realistic at all. Although the fighting in Warsaw was extremely vicious and violent, I doubt that ever happened in reality. A tank shell won't be wasted on a single teenage girl.

Why don't you run this time across the river before you know about a 60-day unfavorable situation and try to defend so much that you're killed to two hundred thousand people ????
