Would be interested to see more on how you have connected your deck wash, pump used etc and how it's used to pump out the bilges as that seems a good idea. Also like your pasty warmer !! Thanks Robert! I’m not sure about the layout and construction of the 170 but a deck wash has an outlet, connected to the hose and spray normally and the inlet is usually to a sea cock or some means of drawing the water in. On mine the inlet goes to a three way manifold which allows me to open up one of three inlets at a time. Two of these are piped to the bilge areas (you might only need one in a 170?) and the third is the connected to the hose with the strainer on the end, as you can see in the video. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy your 170!🎣🎣

Also would love some more detail on the fresh water system, do you flush engine with this as well ? Happy New Year!

@johnplummer5139 HNY John! My transducer mount also won’t keep it clear of the water when on the mooring. I slide it completely off the mount and just leave it in the engine well when I’m tied up. The water system I have is just a wash down pump with three switched inlets, two go to areas to pump the bilges and the third inlet is a hose with a strainer. I can chuck the strainer overboard which gives me a raw water wash down or if it’s in a bucket of water it gives me a fresh water wash down. Can’t use it for flushing the engine unfortunately. Hi John, I’ll put a video on when I get a minute and the weather is suitable but basically it’s you could use any deck wash pump and the inlet is connected to standard hep2o plumbing fittings. For mine I have a three way manifold with shut off valves so this allows me to open one inlet and keep the other two closed. So the three inlet options on mine are one going to under the fuel tanks and one goes to the bilge under the round transom access panels. I did have to drill holes to get the pipes to these points then they are just secured to the lowest point with sikaflex. The final inlet point is a hose with a strainer so I can pop this over the side for a raw water wash down or into a big bucket of fresh for a cleaner wash. Hope that helps. 🎣🎣

There are many options but the beauty of owning your own boats means you can tailor it to you and how you want to use it. For me, I wanted to keep the quarters clear for fishing and the sides as free as possible so it was always going to be a table on the stern and rod holders where I needed them. The Railblaza gear works well for me but I would recommend the fixed star ports over the rail mounts. The rail mounts are great for cup holders etc but I wouldn’t trust them to be strong enough for a rod holder. Enjoy your new boat 🎣🎣

@@michaellegge5324 yes, you’re right, further away from the prop would be better. I put mine where it is because that was the position where there was space between the boarding ladder and the engine. Most props are clockwise so having it on the starboard side of the engine means I don’t get any slow speed interference from the prop. It does mean that there is lots of interference when I pop it in reverse and it can wipe out the sounder for a short while. It works ok for me but definitely further away would be better if you have the space.
