Yes, reading annual reports is key. Especially the Risk Factor section. It presents a look at present and near term focus on what can cause negativity, and needs to be addressed.

I really like everything Buffet says. He seems to know all the things that were lacking in every management and executive person I’ve worked with in my entire career.

I find many books are great about investing philosophy and how you should think about them. Aka, One up on Wall Street, the phycology of money, 100 to 1, richer wiser happier,maybe listening to some Value investors speeches, now as of learning how to value companies Phill towns Rule one Investing is simple with some simple rules. I haven’t read the little book that beats the market yet but I believe that would have some formulas maybe more advanced. Really I would suggest you learn some basic things like what is cash flow vs net income why they are different etc. and then tackle a book like that brakes down more into financials of it.

I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises of plummeting stocks which were once revered and i don't know where to go here out of devastation.

1. He’s not interested in the sales fluff. 2. He contextualizes his companies report by reading the competitors reports. 3. Wall Street reports give little value. Basically he tries to get a sense for the for the business itself, and how the business is doing relative to its peers. At least that’s what I got out of it. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I haven’t ever considered putting all the competitors in head to head comparisons (I’m relatively new to investing).
