  • @ThePlainBagel

    @ThePlainBagel

    4 жыл бұрын

    Market cap is strictly a valuation measurement, it doesn't measure the money that's gone to the company bust rather what investors are willing to trade for its shares. Even though the money isn't going to the company, because investors are buying and selling at a higher price it demonstrates that they are willing to pay more for a share of the company. Hope that clears things up!

    Not really. He takes most of his pay in shares, and you only pay taxes on those when you sell. Combine that with years of share buybacks and he racks up an impressive fortune on paper. The only reason he isn't the richest man in the world is because he donates much of his fortune to charity.

    While I appreciate this channel, I'm not a big fan of this billionaire myth making. As a rebuttal, check out Adam Conover's KZread clip "Why there's no such thing as a good billionaire". Not, no such thing as someone good who makes lots of money, but why specifically billionaires, even when they make pledges like the giving pledge, actually cost our society more than what they donate. And he does a great job of breaking down the "relatable" things that they purport to do, to build this myth of a "relatable billionaire". Eating McDonald's every day and drinking coca cola? That's baaaaad advice man, it's either not true or he's got lucky genes because most people would croak. I would also check out The Financial Diet for more videos breaking down this type of myth making.

    I suspect he's been paid by that corporation or in some other way he's involved with it and that's the reason why he publicly endorses it.
