I live in the U.P., in Baraga. It’s so beautiful it’s magical here, but there’s two things I approach with caution. First, Lake Superior, there’s something about her that can invoke a sense of foreboding that I’ve never sensed from any other lake. You couldn’t pay me to go in Lake Superior past my knees. Next, I’ve twice been in the woods near dusk, happy as a peach, until suddenly feeling sheer terror that triggered me to jump on my quad and get the hell out of there.

@@annetteemery7873 Hello neighbor! It’s so wooded here I’m betting on you being in or near woods often? Have you ever suddenly felt something way off in the woods? I’m at my most peaceful in the woods, and along the Sturgeon that goes through our property. The two haul ass incidents were very unusual since I came up on a bear and her cub twice a few summers ago and I didn’t feel fear, I just respected her space and kept moving on.

Once, a farmer who was working the edge of his field reported a large hairy creature with a terrible stench stumble out of the wood line some 30 yards away from where he was working. Startled and scared the farmer ran to call the local sheriff who sent his deputy. Upon the deputy's arrival and further Investigaton the 'creature' was discovered hiding in a bush. Turns out 'Bigfoot' was a rather large inmate who had escaped from the local prison and made it into the forest only to find himself caught-up in a nasty bog hole. By the time he'd managed to extricate himself he'd lost his shoes, he was exhausted and collapsed onto the ground...covered from head to toe in rancid mud and algae. After a moment to collect his thoughts and still breathing heavy, he knew he had to push on, so he rolled over and picked himself up. Now, also coated in twigs, leaves and pine needles like some kind of rank nut roll, he stumbled out into the field in front of a very startled farmer.

Not go into the woods? I’ve spent just about my entire life running around central UP, mainly delta/dickinson.. I don’t know a single person who would say to not go into the woods.

@@Yoop3r906 if ur a yooper, and ur afraid to go in the woods.. then idk what to even say. It’s quite silly. Only woods to not enter are of course private property. I’m aware we have predators In these wood, however I still don’t know a single yooper who would “know not to go in the woods.” I’m a yooper myself, and again I’ve spent my entire life running around these woods up here.
