You are right! But in my family, I am never flattered ever. However, my cousin, for example, failed her driver's license test and the whole family said "it's because you are so pretty" (which doesn't make sense because beauty would have allowed her to pass) but the family flatters her and her bad behavior gets excused.

I’ve experienced this my whole life in regard to my physical appearance. I’m a very average looking guy, but when I was younger I was always getting complimented on my looks, I’d have stangers, men and women, come out of nowhere and tell me that I looked like a model, movie star, etc, women wanted pictures with me. My friends used to feign envy when it happened. It seems like the universe knew my biggest insecurity, then sent these people to build me up, only to be let down when the reality didn’t match the flattery. I’m older now so it doesn’t happen as much, but I used to rack my brain trying to figure this out. Eventually, I finally got it, and now it feels like an attack when it happens, which it actually is.

I think flattery is only evil when people flatter out of a deceptive mindset. But if you compliment someone from a sincere heart -- without expecting anything in return, then it can be Godly. It has been said that: You can cause hate or love by your tongue.

I subscribe to a few Christian channels, but sometimes I just leave my phone playing while I’m doing other things and mixed into my feed. Will pop up a person that sounds like a Christian will use the lingo or terminology, but then will come up with other things that are not biblical sometimes I’m listening and sometimes I’m not but just something to be aware of…. As far as flattery, there is a difference between genuinely complementing somebody encouraging them or uplifting them. Sometimes people forget their own gifts or the blessings that they have and it’s important to remind them however, if a person comes to you and saying things that are not true I just stumbled out of bed and I look crazy and my hair is all frizzy , I’m dressed mismatched and they tell me how great I look that feels like I’m manipulation so it’s just a matter of wisdom that he said, some of us struggle with people giving you a compliment. We don’t know how to take compliments sometimes we feel embarrassed, or we don’t believe it. We think they’re trying to ridicule us or use us, it’s OK to receive a compliment and simply say thank you

Being chosen or called is not better than others. No one said better, however it means you’ve been prepared or prone for a purpose. It’s very very very hard to go through this process. I can see why people would commit suicide or quit or end up in a hospital. It’s extremely difficult and you have to pace yourself and you can’t fight every single battle because it’s a daily thing so you pick and choose your battles and there’s a lot of Prayer involved there’s a lot of mental strength involved. There’s a lot of periods of just laying low and resting because it’s that draining. Also, you cannot take pride in it because it has nothing to do with your appearance. Nothing to do with your intellect nothing to do with your education. It doesn’t even have to do with the people around. You is simply something that God has ordained or giving you the opportunity to fulfill. We do have free will so that you don’t have to receive your calling, but it would seem like a waste of life to not live out your calling because it’s so exclusive and so personal.
