Blind Reaction--Today we are diving deeper into cultural diversity & cultural sensitivity that surrounds militaries around the world. What makes up the world's military powers and what does each unique country offer to not only the government/military? What do they offer to other countries and even deeper the families of those country? A lot can be said about how a country's government advertises/selects personnel for their military ranks. Take it all in and be flexible in your thought process. Have a blessed day and remember to pray for those individuals supporting their countries.

1:20 The soldier was reciting the unit's credo in the Irish Gaelic language, which is a perfectly normal language to use today. If it is rendered into the English language, it comes out as follows: "I am one of the Young Warriors under Fionn son of Cumhaill. [Irish mythohistorical reference -- termed Rangers in English] And [therefore] I am the brother of Fionn son of Cumhaill. I am one of the Fianna [the comrades of Fionn], acknowledging my heritage, my current comrades and those of past times. I fully accept the responsibilities of my duty and my calling. I am a Young Warrior under Fionn. [English = Ranger] I am a leader. I will show respect to all. My every word will be honest, my loyalty steadfast. I will accept that which is [seemingly] unbeatable [as if] with fondness; I will always find a solution. I am a Young Warrior under Fionn. [English = Ranger] I will continue my mission without cease. I will be unselfish in combat; I will not let my comrades down. I will be steadfast in their defense, for together we are the Fianna [comrades of Fionn]. I am a Young Warrior under Fionn. [English = Ranger].

The Ranger wing was being developed as I finished my last tour in Lebanon around 1981. I could stand corrected, they did their initial training with the Green Berets or certainly one of Americas special forces unit's. An officer " Lt O' Leary "and three enlisted men from my Battalion were part of the initial training group. Most of their experience has been gained through their international deployments far and wide. They have recent positive hostage rescue experience, the latest I believe in Mali, all hostages rescued alive and no friendly loss of life. After 43yrs I would expect they are reasonably good at what they do, Irish defence force Infantry weapons have always been reasonably good and up to nato standard but no expense has been spared with the ranger wing, they have a wide variety of weapons to choose from, a lot appear to favor the Styre which is also the main defence force issue. The main Irish defence force weapons and equipment has come a long way since my time, it would appear they are being got ready for a bigger role in any European army. That said, like many countries at present, they are suffering a major man power issue.

Well instructors like Frank Proctor say to look at your magazine well, to the point of placing a bright coloured drop of paint just inside of it. You might as well give a quick look and ensure no fumbling, because it you do fumble your reload you are going to have to look anyway and just cost yourself more time under pressure in addition to the time lost whilst fumbling.

Thank you so much Josh for reacting to them! It means a lot and it is even very interesting to even point out their flaws. They actually were the first non-USA team to win the US Army International Sniper Competition back in 2015 at Fort Benning but they were disqualified this year for a negligent discharge which is very bad. The ARW are also HALO, HAHO freefall-qualified. I should also say the majority of the people that make it through the selection are from the Irish Navy. I remember seeing a video/documentary years ago which gave insight into an actual segment of a class going through the selection process if I can find it I will send it to you! It was interesting to mention when he cut the corner at the end as the majority of the work they do is counter terrorism since the late 1960s which would involve heavily on CQB. A bit of Backstory to their founding and Irish History in general . : They were founded during the struggle by the Irish government been under pressure to contain the IRA terror groups which styled themselves as the true army of Ireland during the 1960s-1990s (they are around today just in small numbers). The groups essentially wanted to drive out the British from the remaining parts of Ireland then overthrow the Irish government and establish a military dictatorship. The government was struggling to contain them at the border crossing and to crackdown on them which were doing mass kidnappings, bank robberies etc. I don't know if you heard of him but the renowned SAS soldier Billy Billingham received the Queen's Commendation for Bravery after capturing an IRA sniper by using himself as bait in south Armagh. It was sort of like a Taliban ordeal as the Irish government did initially train the IRA during the 1950s-60s in Co. Donegal in reaction to what he British government was doing in Northern Ireland. There was camps set up to teach explosive training and firearm drills. A lot of Irish soldiers defected and essentially then turned on The Irish government. When Bloody Sunday Happened the whole of Ireland was on the side of the groups even Charles Haughey, then Minister for Finance was alleged involvement in a conspiracy to smuggle arms to the Irish Republican Army and was dismissed. It became a serious threat to the government as the groups weren't coming under shortage of volunteers and the government was heavily criticised for doing nothing which fuelled the support for the groups. There was even a point during the troubles which had serious tension on the border with the UK where the Irish government put out a public broadcast saying " the Irish government can no longer stand by and see innocent people injured and perhaps worse" There was a plan Codenamed "Exercise Armageddon" which was the Irish governments plan to Invade the North which if you research it , it is very interesting but lets be Real we never stood a chance against the UK and the report even detailed that which was declassified. There was also another operation which was styled as the Irish TET offensive taken inspiration from Vietnam but it also never went through. The Military was doing a lot of fantasying back then haha.

Irish rangers serve in Mali fighting Islamic state alongside France They have also served in Libya Afghanistan and Syria They are special forces and a tier one unit. They are not the spearhead to invasions and wars they are diplomatic protection counter terrorism hostage rescue and use unconventional means And peacekeeping might as well be war You try keep the Islamic state a bunch or Arab catholics and the Israeli government from killing each other all at the same time keeping Israeli terrorists away from bombing Lebanese. Or go to the Congo and fight Belgians and French used by the Africans as mercs. Ask any American soldier the rules of engagement for peacekeeping is a lot more dangerous compared to invading a country. USA deployment in afghan was a lot different to Iraq. Irish deployment to Lebanon was attacked and bombed but waited hours so UN could let them shoot back
