Warn Zeon Control Pack Relocation Kit Install

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Some of you asked me to do a video on the Warn Zeon control pack relocation kit for the Warn Zeon winch. I also bought and installed the Innovative JK Products winch cover plate, and made an aluminum bracket for the Warn control pack to mount in the Jeeps engine bay. Thanks for checking it out!

    Nice vid. Wondering if this is the same process for Zeon 12? My mount is for inside of bumper and not sure if it’ll fit without relocating that? Already bought winch but haven’t opened it up and investigated it yet

    What happens the port for the wired remote control. Can it stay with the winch or does it need to go into the engine bay with the control pack... Don't want to have to open engine bay to plug in... Any options?

  • @JeepArmyUSA

    @JeepArmyUSA

    The port can be extended to desired location, a wireless remote receiver can be used, or what I’m doing is snipping off the port and wiring in-cab switches.

    What size braided wire loom did you use for the 3 large gauge wires running to the winch ?

  • @JeepArmyUSA

    @JeepArmyUSA

    2 жыл бұрын

    It was either 3/4 or 3/8. Best thing to do is measure the cable first to be sure. I can say for sure that I got that braided sleeving from the Alex Tech Store on Amazon. I got 25’ of 3/4 and 25’ of 3/8

    Maybe just a tad bit but that winch controller wasn’t really blocking the rad that much to begin with. And definitely no change while slow wheelin. It is nice getting the controller out of the elements but now it’s also in a hot engine bay so that’s the trade off. I would still do this mod over again. I like the simplicity of it, Less is more kinda thing.

    Why not just remove the top tie plate instead of unspooling all the rope?

  • @JeepArmyUSA

    @JeepArmyUSA

    3 жыл бұрын

    You have to unspool to make enough room to get to the fasteners that secures the top plate. It doesn’t seem like you would have to but I tried without unspooling, and there wasn’t enough room to reach the fasteners.

  • @singlesidedfangz

    @@JeepArmyUSA Yep I get that, I'm referring to the torx screws that hold down the tie plate (the bracket you unscrewed the controls from comes off too) instead of starting with the "hidden screws". Then could unbolt the control box (screws no longer hidden) from it and put the tie plate back on with the 4 screws. Most videos do what you did, when there are 4 screws that come right out on the tie plate. Not sure if there's a reason for that, but seems way easier. Tx

  • @singlesidedfangz

    @singlesidedfangz

    the Tie Plate is the bracket you leave on the winch, which becomes the top when the control box is gone. The control box bolts to the Tie Plate, the Tie Plate to the winch.

    @@JeepArmyUSA Yep...just did mine and removing the top plate worked fine. My winch is in a bumper and I only have access on the top, removing a major PITA. For those that have the same situation, removing the top plate works like a charm with the added benefit of not having to unspool the line. tx for the video
