My gosh! I didn't know I was a contralto until today. This is so helpful!

Question to all you contra alto's: can you sing all the notes in this video in your chest voice??? I can't. At a certain point i have to switch to my headvoice

You are a contralto if your an alto im pretty sure, I think alto is in reference to a part in choir music so its contralto, mezzo, soprano.

@@altpropaganda7293incorrect. altos are not contraltos, contraltos also have a specific flap in their vocal cords that are different from normal vocal cords, this is why they are naturally able to sing deeper instead of “practicing to become one”.

just practice! some contraltos since their voice is specific to be low pitched it’s not easy, but with practice and consistency you’ll get it!

Im trying to get someone to help me figure out if I am a contralto...My lowest note i can sing is C3 and my highest is a g4. If you could please tell me what that range typically is I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much. :)

as a contralto, my range is c#3-c#5 (or #6 i cant remember) So I think you might be one

being a contralto is more about the tona than the range. Yo can have a range from C3 to C5 and be a Tenor or a Contralto, it depends on your tone. Contraltos have an androgynous voice, Tenor's do not.
