Warlord Plastic T-34/85 [28mm]

The Warlord plastic T-34/85! It's pretty good! One of their earlier kits, and it does kind of show, but it's not bad at all!
If you want to see a comparison with the Rubicon T-34/85 you can find that near the end of the video.

Right on about drilling the barrels, looks tiny but adds so much realism, I always drill my 15 mm solid barrels.

HERB!!! The fuel tanks/drums have a cap which should be on TOP ! You my friend put them on the SIDE! All your fuel will poor out when your comrades open them. I built this model years ago.

Comrades will prevent fuel spillage despite incompetently placed caps. Otherwise gulag.

Now - about 3 years after this video was uploaded - I wonder if the turret is still on the hull or did it go to the T-34 heaven?

Really nice kit. I got one with the soviet starter army but I'm a dummy and glued the wee locking bit with the turret so its fixed to the hull while too excited to buid my new tank. Worked out alright though. Also I forgot how good that Rubicon T34 is painted. Great job pal.

Ernie Kat I envy you :( Generally i dont know a single game event in my country and no shipment nor shops for it either :/ Few from Italeri, and thats it. Generally 1: 100 Zvezda+ general kits (not even modern 1:72 Trumpeter or Dragon)

@@StalkeraBg Man, maybe can visit shops overseas? Model kits like these are also quite niche in my country, I managed to snag this kit from a warhammer shop I found a couple years back

Herbert, I have an off topic question I hope you can help with. I am planning on getting back into mini's painting. Close to retirement and I want a hobby other than working. Plan is not to collect for gaming but for display. I have a large number of 6th scale WWII firearms on one shelf and was thinking about possibly putting WWII vehicles on the shelf above them firearms. But I am not sure if it is best to go with 72nd scale or the 56th scale. I don't want 35th scale, way to large for my area, plus I want a collection of different vehicles. For example a full collection of SdKfz251's in all their variants. What is your opinion? 72 or 56 scale??

If you're just going to display them I think 1:72 is a better choice. If only because there's a lot more variety of models available and more manufacturers making them. The detail will also likely be a bit better if the kits aren't designed with gaming and frequent handling in mind like 1:56 stuff often is.

@@HerbertErpaderp I had considered 72 scale but finding a regular supply seems rather difficult. I can go on the net and easily find a single source for 56 scale but 72 wow it is all over the map. PLUS I was thinking of going into figures as well. I am still not sure which route to go yet BUT thanks for the input and the videos.

Personally I do favour the Rubicon T-34. The engine deck detail is much better. And it's likely you'll be staring at it allot. But these are fine for a quick throw together.

Truthfully, I'm not very impressed with this kit in 28mm. Years ao I used to use 1/48 scale vehicles with 25mm figures. They were a great match. Bandai was making some 1/48 scale armor and the detail was awesome. They even had interiors. This highlights the difference between gaming models and true scale models. This has a lot of glossed over details and overly large panel lines. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a modelling equivalent to 28mm. I'd prefer to use those in this scale if I had a choice. Thanks for showing us Herb.
