This is what scores of modern DS bands forget. The genre is like vaporwave in that it's intentionally a throwback to those little interludes on 2nd wave BM releases. Warlock Corpse actually knows what it is, and does well with that. Tips the hat in all the right places, from Silvester Anfang feels to Neptune Towers and even hints of a few Eastern European bands. Nice to hear the old synths bein' used again, too. The genre has bored me for ages, but this reminds me I'm not the only person who knows how to use a JV-35 and MS20.

@@DEATHFETISH It varies depending upon my inclination and the genre. The last time I released any dungeon synth I left the sheet music in a dead tree at a rather (in)auspicious location. I've Been working on some Majick Rock alongside some flashcore for quite a while, but I'm not sure how I want to release either project at the moment.

fucking THANK YOU! I'm so picky when it comes to DS for this exact reason. The closer DS is to black metal, the better it is! Warlock Corpse is the ideal DS! you should check out his side project Lord Horoz if you haven't already. It's probably my favorite.

Im pretty new to this genre, so this is a good comment to read. The whole dungeon vibe makes it seem like its great for old video games. Dungeon crawlers mainly lol. Do most DS composers hit this incidentally by way of the nature of their production tools and set ups? Or do any actively use old computer game music as part of their inspirations? Asking cause you seem like you've been round the block with this stuff.

@@flandyc4513 It varies. Similarly to the Black Metal side of things, some folks are doing it consciously and some folks are just following genre conventions. You're as likely to hear someone reference their love for Barry Leitch or Andreas Bettinger as you are to hear them say they just really like OSRS and don't even know that Mortiis had a failed attempt at being Trent Reznor which lead to him making DS again to pay the bills.

Raiding dungeons in modded Minecraft while listening to this channel's music is a ✨vibe✨

Bride Sacrificed is quite possibly my favorite track on this album, followed closely by the rest of the tracks. Phenomenal work.
