Warhammer’s Stoutest Dwarf | Josef Bugman History
Ойындар
Josef Bugman is a dwarf legend: a master brewer who has lived almost as long as Warhammer Fantasy and whose ales are the most famous, and potent, in the old world. I take a look at the history of his appearances in the lore and on the tabletop via a range of phenomenal miniatures. And then I take a look at some far more rare and dangerous - the Bugman's Game by Rick Priestley!

My favourite dwarven charater, and leader of my old rolling drunken dwarfs army
A few months ago I was visiting the UK from Australia, and after 28 years of playing Warhammer, I finally got to have a pint at Bugmans Bar
Christmas ‘95 all of us GW store staff received our staff bonus - a box of Bugmans 6X and a voucher for a pizza restaurant (would have preferred cash)

Was the 6X as good as the legends suggest?
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with bugman and his bar. I am a recovered alcoholic. I’m 5 and half years sober, and a massive part of this recovery is Warhammer. I wanted back in. I used to play dwarves and wanted to again. Naturally I picked up slayers and kharadrons. Finally made the pilgrimage to Warhammer world and the bar! But I’m newly sober at that point. Ended up with a thermal mug with bugmans livery. And never got to taste bugmans beers. It’s not something that bothers me. Not now anyways. But my best mates still have a bit of banter with me stating that I’m not a ‘proper duardin’ cheeky fe**ers… still. Mildly amusing that my love of dwarves assisted my life of sobriety. All the best, 73! From MrBrukks.

Well done on the five and a half years. I agree that there can be enormous power in a hobby like ours to help us grow, change, and evolve; I know it’s been hugely important for me personally! To my mind, the most legendary Dawi will always be the ones who remain true to themselves even when their mates take the mick!

@@jordansorcery very true. 🤘🏻🇬🇧
Thank you for this! I always wondered about the mysterious origins of the Bugman's XXXXXX quest in Warhammer Quest. I knew Warhammer had a rich history and it certainly felt like Master Bugman was part of it. Thank you for bringing it together for me! I will make sure to put a Bugman's Bar in my fantasy settings from now on, and seated at a table will be at least one relatively approachable, or at least brawlable, Ratty Lad. Drink, you will! Chug-chug!

Thank you for this! I loved getting the background just before my trip to Bugman’s!
Love this character. Cant wait for a Felix and gotrek video. Thanks for your work
PLEASE say that the way you start your vids with "Hello" Is an intentional understated alternative to the obnoxious drawn out greetings of most other KZread creators.

It may not be that contrived, but it's certainly welcome, as it is refreshing on a platform awash with screeching, clapping, hand-rubbers who don't seem to know "what's going on?" or "what's happening?" 😅

Hello!
As the saying goes; the ale gets drunk but we get drunker.
Never heard of this Bugmans bar game. Would love see a play through. Don't mess with the Fur Beasts character lol. There was an Orc game which came from WD set in around a pub brawl. Always nice to see the Fur Beast 😂
A tankard raised to this video. Iconic character in depth videos..... you are onto something there!

I had so many of those miniatures at one time or another, rather foolishly sold them. I’d completely forgotten Bugman’s cart, oddly it was one of my first miniature purchases. Excellent stuff as always.

Cheers Stu! I loved that cart, but the US keg of the covenant is awesome too - would love to see one of those in real life!
Very iconic character for GW and Warhammer. Harks back to the old days where RPG-story infused with some fun (eg beer and dwarves and grudges) becomes a miniature and backstory for the Dwarf Army list. I did have the original regiment of renown but I think Bugman holding aloft a tankard is the best version in '93 they released. The Bugman's Rangers being dwarf rangers I felt was a great option too: The nomad dwarves surviving in the wilderness, using axes and cross-bows and fuelled by wound-restoring beer, while fitting the army list as a scout option ticks both boxes. Would be great if GW ever took Warhammer Skirmish seriously and released a paired down game around that. Bugman's Rangers would fit right in immediately.
Hi Jordan, I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos over the last week or so after discovering your channel. I particularly love the history of Warhammer series but this one tops the lot because I painted a couple of the Bugmans you featured 😄. Keep up the amazing work.

You’ve done some spectacular work! I was so pleased SoL let me feature them!
Great video. I always try to fit Bugman into a list when I have the points. The 5th ed model is one of my favorite models. I also have the old 3rd edition version with his regiment. Also nice spotlight on the drunk dwarfs. I grabbed a bunch of them back in the day. I try to fit at least 1 in every unit. The miner converts nicely into a Hammerer. 👍
Many moons ago when I worked in GW St Albans we each received (if I recall correctly) ten pints of Bugmans brew for Christmas.
Bugman's - it puts the Roll into Troll!
Btw there was a small WD release of an orc version of the game to, but with more broken teef...

I have regularly visited Bugman’s Bar in Nottingham. I will raise a goblet to you for this detailed history of the great Dwarf.

So glad you did this video. I was beginning to think I was the only one who had played the Bugmans game. Last time we played our dwarfs kept ending up getting stuck in the toilets :) I wonder if Warhammer World still sell it?

Sadly it’s long gone from Warhammer World. The bogs are still there though!
I remember being given an old metal bugman mini by my friend's dad back in like 2010 when I was 8, it was the 1993 one I think, still have it somewhere, not not to sure where. First mini I ever owned. UPDATE: I found him :]
The end is such a tease!!!! Great video as usual. Thank you!

LOVE your channel. Saw your blackstone fortress / warhammer fantasy vid, and, i got a copy and am learning it, and loving it. Hopefully you can do more vids on blackstone in time maybe campaigns or battle retorts. Who knows if you are still very local (Altrincham ??) We may even play in the future. Anyhoo keep the famtastic channel going loving ALL the content. 👍
Be great to see some more detailed videos on the classic RoR/MoD characters. I know they're not all as storied as Bugman, but... the legend of Harboth deserve a proper celebration, maybe with some mention of that git Notlob and da rest ov da Greenskins would be an awesome video. "Oy, boss" "Wot" "Bin ter see Notlob, like you said,"
Good stuff as always!
Is this where the Bugman’s Glow paint gets its name?
Over here in Australia my friends and me often called him “Aussie Joe Bugman”, a sly nod to the Hungarian/British/Australian boxer Joe Bugner! 😂
Now it’s settled… have to get my hands on that game. As always, great and entertaining video, Jordan.

After watching what The Bugman’s Game has been going for on EBay & BGG for the past two months, I finally came across a sealed box that was going for a fraction of what other sellers were asking. Placed my order for it this morning. Looking forward to trying it out. Any chance you might still be considering some sort of play through video with it?

Thoroughly researched as usual; well done!! I've wanted to get the champion with the eye patch from the '90s Bugman's Rangers unit for decades now. I've got the '90s version of Bugman himself, but that champion has a lot of character to the sculpt. I've also wanted the Bugman's game (who wouldn't?) but sadly it's OOP at Warhammer World. Ah well. I have a cardstock "Brewhouse Bash" game from issue #223 of White Dwarf. Controversially, it takes place in an *ORC* bar, not a proper Dwarf bar! It's the closest I can get at this point, so I'll have to make do.
