You would think ancient terraformers like the Old Ones would construct the gates like a fuse box. If there is too much energy going into the circuit, it cuts the circuits. Which would mean not only stop sustaining the gate process, but also switching the device to actively suppress or nullify magical energy. Its kind of like making a nuclear reactor without having safeguards to stop the chain reaction from spreading beyond what you can safely control, you would think it would be a basic idea when dealing with powers that can endanger life on a massive scale.

Arch, can you do a Lore Video on the Kharadon Warlords? I recently learned of their mere existence of the Steme Dwarves and I'm fascinated.

Maybe a effect on cities were it not only damages builds but knocks them back a level? Like a level 5 barracks for the empire gets knocked back down to level four and is heavily damaged. Level 5 city gets damaged and knocked back to level 4, ect. Basically kinda simulate not only is your city heavily damaged but there are entire aspects of infrastructure you must rebuild in order to do what you were doing in that city previously.

One would need to be careful when locating lore about Tyrion. This is because in the most recent High Elf "codex," the writers changed Tyrion's personality entirely so Tyrion's End Times actions could be believed. They twisted Tyrion from a good guy, perhaps a hero into Aenarion 2.0. All material relating to the end times is idiotic. Avoid the most recent Tyrion material (and all end time material) if you want be well-informed. The earlier High Elf codexes are more honest. If you can, you would probably enjoy the books by William King about the pair. The books are good, trust me. Tyrion and Teclis are discussed/explain on King's website as well. These books are "Blood of Aenarion," "Sword of Caledor" and "Bane of Malekith."

The city destruction could work if you give a turn limit before you could rebuild say that the area is corrupted with the magical energy of the vortex sort of like radiation

Out of curiosity, why didn't the elves, the slan, or the old ones create a god of stupid decisions, and force it to contain all of their foolishness?

basically the elves and the slans are the heroes of the warhammer world

I hope that there is a realm divide mechanic, which works basically the same as Shogun 2. If you conquer land, win battles, assassinate/kill lords, and complete quests for the ritual it should increase the power on the meter. When it becomes full, there is a huge diplomatic penalty across all factions, that rises by 10 units every turn. Eventually even your closest allies will betray and attack you. Now let's take it a step further and say that you don't win instantly upon completing the rituals that lead to controlling the vortex and that there is one, final quest: to maintain control of it's province until about 30 turns. That means you can't just steamrole through the rituals, not gaining the extra power from battles or conquests, and win by setting sail for ulthuan and never triggering "realm divide." In this case if you take the vortex before triggering realm divide it will go off anyway, and have to protect the vortex against the other factions. Add in a couple of chaos stacks in ulthuan after capturing the vortex (not necessarily triggered by realm divide, but a faction would be at that point anyway). This could with the lore as well. If a faction seems to be close to completing the quest for the vortex, the Skaven wouldn't want anyone having access to that many pretty warp stones, the lizardmen doesn't want anyone to mess with it because they fear the return of chaos, the high elves for the same reason, and and the dark elves hate everyone anyway and would see a faction strong enough to attain the vortex as a fun challenge. Obviously no one would want the vortex to be used against them because it is basically a never ending source of nuclear missile-level magic. The reasons for everyone betraying and hating someone as powerful as to take the vortex is the simple tactic of destroying them before they destroy us. Finally, as an extra bonus, If the player or an AI faction trigger realm divide and is reduced to a very small threat, then realm divide switches off and is applied whoever fills the meter again. The diplomatic penalty is reduced by 30 per turn until it has no affect. Also, loss of battles and land will decrease the realm divide meter so realm divide won't be triggered if a faction tries to rebuild a fallen empire

technically Kroak was killed instantly by the dozen bloodthirsters and Aenarion killed 4 greater daemons each with only one slash of his sword but was mortally wounded by N'Kaari at the last moment, a greater daemon that actually managed to survive the sheer energy of the vortex being forged, no small feat of power.

To be real, Kroak was fighting nearly all of the demons on his own for many,MANY years, constandly casting spells and barriers. Alsow, most of the demons died trying to even reach him. They even had items to give them defense against magic. After he died and came back a second later, he pushed all the demon forces back to the portals with ONE spell and supported the making of the vortex from FAR away.

Really appreciate the time you spend on your content sir, would be great if you did a Warhammer total war 2 live stream sometime. thank you again

So Arch, you think Warhammer Fantasy is just a feudal world in 40K? It would make some sense but I don't think Geedubs ever confirmed this. I'm making it my headcannon, with some additions: the Warhammer World actually exists millenia after 40K is long gone. Chaos has won, and by winning it has lost. Some Old ones remain, they find an isolated planet to repopulate with stuff, create the Slann, then go back to sleep. This ties things nicely together.

I do agree with your particular perspective on the Vortex and how it could be presented in the game itself, but as I recall it has already been sad in one promotional video that the Vortex mechanic will not be SO influencial on the game, and it's completely skippable by the player..and that worries me a lot..what do you think about this?

So Arch. Since part 3 of the game is going to be the Daemons of Chaos. How high are the chances that CA is just shoving the Vortex Campaign as a way to explain the events that will happen in Part 3? Which in a way, means that regardless of what you do, the Daemons will still end up coming. So in a way, i feel that kinda cheapens the plot of Part 2 as just a tease for Part 3.

Where is it said that they created gods? I thought it was left vague if they created gods or just helped empower the weak non-asshole ones, or just did a lot of magic.

i cannot understand something. Lizardmen want to stay away of vortex or HE dont want them close. If HE had issues such huge problem it wouldnt be wiser to ask for help from the more magicly powerfull Lizardmen in order to seal the deal??? And why lizarmn would like to stay away from it. If the common goal is to protect the world from chaos it wouldn't be wiser for them to help the HE with the ritual and end with it? PLZ SOMEONE GIVE ME AN ANSWER AND EXPLAATION PLZ!

PELLIOTIS the lizardmen are really weird. They have no quarrel with the good races but they will never actually help or mingle with them. For example a high elf host went to a temple city to meet mazdimundi, he said they shouldn't be there when the sauras tries to force them out they drew swords and the temple guard cut them down

You're thinking about the Imperium versus anything else in the Star Wars universe? Because it's a laughably easy fight for the Imperium no matter what. And think about all the other terrifying monstrosities in 40k, like for example tyrannids. A full scale 'nid invasion is mildly annoying for the Imperium, but it would make Darth Vader piss himself in terror.

This comment is a copy paste of a response i made to another comment, i just thought i would share this idea with the larger comment section as a whole. You know you actually have me thinking. The obvious answer is 40K, because everything about it is absurdly op and comparing any aspect of the imperium of man to even the most powerful scenario in starwars The Imperium of man has infinitely more resources and man power. So on the surface, 40k hands down. HOWEVER, for the sake of being neat, let's actually look at an Ideal case for the starwars side. Let's say that each side must comply with their universes rules, ie starwars has hyperspace ftl, and the Imperium of man is confined to navigating the warp. For an interesting and not totally one sided scenario let's say that The Galactic Empire, or even The Galactic Empire Allied With the new Republic, has stumbled upon the Imperium without them being aware. So the Galactic Empire mobilizes it's mightiest Fleet, just assume that they have the peak of their assets at their immediate disposal and the get the drop on the Imperium. First, where they choose to strike is important. If they attack a hive world they're gonna get a fiercer fight than if they attacked a random planet, or nothing if they attacked a planet like Caddia. Regardless of the immediate resistance, the Imperiums response would take some time to arrive, regardless of the significance. This is a result of a combination of poor communication, logistical issues, and of course thier somewhat sluggish ftl. So let's look at the planetary invasion. If we use a random Imperium planet the Starwars faction would with some minor resistance assume control over most of the planet, with extreme resistance around larger population centers, which they could either completely destroy over a period of heavy bombardment, or it would devolve into Super Stalingrad style fighting with the Starwars faction eventually winning after taking horrendous casualties. On a hive world the story would be the same, except the entirety of the planet would be a Super Stalingrad. A fortress world would make a Starwars invasion ludicrously ineffective, I mean Chaos barely can scratch them. At any rate, assuming there is no outside intervention, the Starwars faction may theoretically be able to take a fortress world, but the resources lost would castrate them and their potential. Now here's what I truly am uncertain of; How would the two sides mash up in Space Combat? Assuming the Imperium of Man sends A comparable fleet to combat them, and the planet has no impact on the Orbital battle, then I feel as though the Starwars side has a chance. Though many of thier weapons are lacking an would likely probe ineffective against Imperium armor, and the Imperiums weapons could rip through a Starwars ship with little effort. Not to mention the tactics of boarding that the Imperium uses would roflstomp any ships defenders. But let's give starwars the benefit of doubt and say that several powerful force users are present in this battle. For this reason I'm gonna say that we will use the old EU, or legends, because they probably have a better chance. Despite lacking in brute force, starwars has a finesse about it in space warfare that is lacking in 40k, not to forget that even though most of starwars vessels are comparable to 40k, their are some monstrous ships in starwars, and in this we have already assumed they are all here, along with the many many smaller support vessels and fighters/bombers, which would mostly be fodder and meatshields against boarding parties. But their is always a potential for a starwars fighter or bomber to actually inflict some damage. At this point I would say that though they would take some considerable losses the Imperium would still triumph, though I am not entirely certain. BUT we forget something; The starwars side has mustered EVERYTHING they can at their peak potential for this scenario. That means atleast one Death Star, which when compared to the rest of starwars is Abominable in power, and when compared to 40k , would pose an actual threat what with its ability to erase a goddamn planet and what not. But in 40k, it would still only be a glass cannon, able to inflict sever damage, but unable to withstand sustained Imperium fire. For this reason, assuming that starwars brought a deathstar, and every possible vessel it could to this pitched space battle, it could be anyone's game in my limited understanding of both lores. Note: I didn't mention the potential ability of a force user as we have seen in the Old EU, as although badass, it is absurdly powerful when the opposing side has no ability to directly counter the Force. Sure psykers could try and melt their brain, but the imperium wouldn't recognize the threat that Force users posed, nor would they understand what the hell was happening to begin with. So yeah, someone could say that a single all powerful Force user could simply crash all the Imperiums ships together, but that's no fun. So for force users in this scenario I'd say that their greatest potential is limited to what Starkiller can do in starwars the force unleashed while the under player control (sorry that cuts cent with the isd won't matter) which would be relentless fast attacks, brutal force bolts, and with concentration and strain the ability to crush medium armored vehicles. This in my opinion makes the battle even. So that's my thought. The battle is anyone's game, but the war would inevitably be won by the Imperium with no truly lasting impact on the 40k universe?
