Ive noticed that the friendly ai guardsnan tend to stand in an idle animation a lot and wont shoot the tyranids. Hopefully that wont be in the final release

Play helldivers 2 instead. It’s the game that Star ship troopers and every war hammer game wishes it was.

I would love if the Guardsmen seemed just a little more capable. I get that you're supposed to win their losing fights for them, but I want to feel like they're losing because the enemy is too strong, not because they're just weak. Protecting allies and the heavy weapons should have a tangible reward. Mutual support.

unfortunately the only things the guard have going for them are courage, loyalty, faith and numbers Millions die every day, their numbers are so large the astra militarum likely has no idea just how many men and women they have on frontlines - but they are still the bravest of the humanity

@@jaketheman1577 There's a difference between that and half of them running around aimlessly, incapable of taking down 1 gaunt, with cover and a squad of Primaris Marines supporting you. I know the Guard is a meat grinder. They're stronger than this though.

my heart sank when he tossed a grenade into the midst of all those cadians. Bro playing this is heartless. I'd feel obligated to try my best to keep as many of the guardsmen alive whenever possible.

From this short segment, there was 6 different Tyranids. You've got the Termagaunt and the Hormagaunt, which are your standard Grunt, Melee and Ranged respectively. You've got your Warrior, which are Synaptic Tyranid, they control the Grunts, and they come in Melee and Ranged Variants. You've got the Gargoyles flying about. At the start, you get Tyranids Drop Pods. And at the very end, in the back, you can see a Zoanthrope, which is a Psyker Tyranid

@@deepvoid2871 You mean the power-armored dudes? Those are Space Marines of the Ultramarine Chapter. The bug monsters are Tyranids and the regular soldiers are the Imperial Guard. Inquisitors are a whole other can of worms.

One thing I like about this demo is that it shows a lot more variety in its campaign. We not only see cities similar to that from the first game, but also forests (possibly death worlds), and perhaps even a warp dimensional area of sorts. Tyranids make for a good alternative to the orks from the first game while also allowing them to have a contrasting goals so that its not a complete carbon copy with better graphics. As for the story, well... im excited to see where it goes.

Im really excited to play this game. The only downside I see in this demo are the friendly AI just standing there and the bolter not sounding like a bolter. Like I want the bolter TO BREAK THE EMPEROR'S LIGHT OUT OF MY EAR DRUMS!!

Agreed! I would absolutely love it if it sounded like the Astartes Project bolter. With some real weight behind it

I like the way the enemies don't disappear. Personally, because of Astartes, I believe the Space Marines should move a bit faster and be a bit more acrobatic. Sprinting should look natural and at least be an option. In the lore their armour should feel as if it isn't there at all, I saw him only at a light jog. Their reactions are also extremely fast, so a slow mo mode would make sense. Please give us the option to have a helmet as well. I really like the defensive maneuvers against the tyranids.

I'd been wanting a sequel for so long and heard for years how they had no plans to ever make one and now we finally get it.

I really hope they make it to where a helmet on Titus is optional. Like if you go into the menu you can choose whether Titus wears his helmet or not. For cutscenes Im ok with him not wearing one...but when Im in combat I want a helmet on.

I love how the chain on his wrist is a nod to his time spent with the black templars

We need more games like this. All the crazy cinematics, a huge sprawling and lively set, and great sound design. One thing games lack these days, is a good music track. Music can single handedly create feelings of dread, fear, can get you pumped up etc etc etc. Like DOOM for example, they used sound design to great effect in that game.

I've been waiting 13 years for this, and this is more or less exactly what I envisioned. Bring it on!

Seeing the Guard with their equipment and vehicles looks so cool.

The gameplay and atmosphere reminded me of the first Gears of War, in a good way. The games were great.

Remember folks, this isn’t the final product. Final product is supposed to look much worse.

As beautiful and clean as this game looks i dont like how slow the marines look when running. Titus over here breaking a sweat barely outrunning the regular humans even when sprinting. I know it would kill gameplay mechanics and make them op to be lore accurate but they look like terminators lumberin across the battlefield. Would be cool if they made titus a terminator so it would kind of make sense as to why he can barely move faster than the guardsmen. Maybe implement cleaner running animations while keeping the speed the same idk im not asking for boltgun running speeds or even lore accurate speed but this makes these guys look like deathguard struggling to get across the battlefield as did the first game. These guys are designed to be superhuman in every way not just size.

My work colleague introduce me in too the Warhammer universe. And then showed me this masterpiece!

played the first game on 360 loved it got into the tabletop hobby now I got this puppy on my steam Wishlist and can't for it to come out.

Seeing those gargoyles swarming like birds is pretty cool.

So excited for this game, and these gameplay demos show to me that they have confidence in the product. It's stable, runs lovely and smooth and most importantly, fun. Best of luck with it!

this is a combination on WWZ zombie mechanics and Gears of War grittiness and architecture, this is perfect. Considering this game just touches upon Astartes/these blue guys, imagine the endless potential future games which take place in different worlds/clans/races with this same game structure. If I was to add upon this game mechanically I'd incorporate more of the slo-mo interactive scenes but instead of just shooting the blue circle on screen to escape the enemy, you'd have an MK style button combination mechanic to require more skill to dispatch of immediate threats, considering the variety of opponents you can end up encountering in this universe, theres tonnes of unique potential there to make each race of enemy a unique threat.

wow this is spectacular, this universe is one of my most favorites, there are so many interesting races, this confrontation is very epic. If is compared to the Starcraft game, this matchup is similar to Terrans vs Zergs.

That's because starcraft is essentially a warhammer 40k game. Blizzard was contracted by games workshop to make a game and there was something that happened when blizzard had an almost finished game. They decided to change some things and release it as their own

Yeah Tyranids are quite similar to zerg. imo tehy are more dangerous simply because their forces are far more numerous and surround the entire 40k galaxy it would seem - which means they survived possible thousands of years in dark space in between galaxies... the zerg were never that successful but they also started as an infestation within the starcraft galaxy that the protoss and terrans immediately start trying to deal with - where as the tyranids are preformed invading force. Imo the zerg possess greater mutational potential and much more varied kinds of troops and tbh id take them in 1 on 1 fight but the Tyranids are quite dangerous and perhaps the greatest foe in the 40k universe - i forsee the canon uniting many of the races, particular the Tau, Eldar and the Imperials/Space Marines in some kind of tacit alliance until they can rebuff the advances of the tyranid forces.

Literally no words to describe how psyched I am for this game.

I'm impressed with the small details hopefully they implement a small thruster for a bit more pace.

I REALLY hope you can use the helmet in this game. Fine, he is a long lived badass but its just stupid to not use a helmet, one piece of randomly flying fragment and the hero is a blood flower blooming....with perfectly badass body protection....

Darktide plasma gun in hands of guardsman : canon that shoots beam of light that destroys everthing in its wake. Blue smurfs : hand-held laser pistol.

The guardsmen need to be a bit better in terms of ai and power, it would help the world building/feel but I’m excited it’s looking good!

World building is actually pretty accurate here, guardsmen die in billions while protecting systems from Tyranids.

Neat stuff. Hope they later bring more factions as DLC's. Orks, Heretics and maybe even Chaos would be cool. Would pay a lot to see that! :D

That's actually quite doable: _Brutal Legend_ is an RTS game where you contol your army by activly moving around the battlefiend the wayyou would in a 3rd person action game/3rd person shooter. Apply that kind of design to a Space Marine chapter and you're good to go.

For the game to look this good with all the stuff going on has to be pretty good optimization, u love to see it especially in the hellscape that is AAA games these days

The framerate is chugging here. Very noticeable drops at times.

Cant wait for this to drop, just to wander around with guardsmen and see the scenery more than the game itself. it looks beautiful.

Part 2 looks like it might steal game of the year from Zelda and Baldurs Gate! I hope the next game in the series is through the eyes of a playable Eldar badass facing the Necrons!

idk if it's just me, but I would absolutely love it if friendly fire was enabled. I think it would be the funniest thing if Titus bisected both Tyranids *and* guardsmen when he slashed with his chainsword or when he threw a gernade into a mob.

Wanna see the gaurd do more, making lines and firing more often, holding their own some. Have them fall back behind the marines, not being useless

It looks amazing but it still needs a lot of optimization. I see quite a bit of laggy bits and I imagine they played on a powerful rig for this video. Not enough people talking about how awesome the sound design is though. Probably the best sound effects out of any piece of 40k media

Im thinking that there's gonan be the Nids, yes, but also Necrons and Eldar. Gonna be interesting to see what Focus and Saber concoct

I hope the developers will give us tools for mods?

Haven't played this before but im definitely getting this game.

Titus is definitely colder and harder around the edges now. While not necessarily treating the guard as disposable pawns, he still fully expects all guardsman to treat their own lives as the emperors currency. To be expended in his service.

If I was controlling those Tyranids, those Marines would be toast.... js....

Shout-out to Guardsman 144 at 2:50 who never fell back from the hoard and fought along-side the Astartes through that attack.

The ability to summon tyranid necks to your open hand like mjolnir is a fine addition to the space marine's confusing set of canonical powers.

there is only one single thing I don't like about this gameplay: the way the game "freezes" in melee combat any time your sword hits an enemy, and saddly I don't expect that to be changed. Apart from that, I fell in love with it. Day 1 purchase 100%

Looks very good. There should be more impact shaking camera though

i think the chainsword definitely needs a bit more oomf behind it. maybe if you time the melee input when it hits an enemy it can grind against them for extra damage? besides the audio and visuals it doesn’t really have anything that makes it feel like it’s a chainsaw on a sword if that makes sense. this game kinda begs you to jump into a mosh pit and just tear through enemies, so it’d be nice to have that emphasised as much as possible. also those reload times are a little insane, hopefully they’re just proportionate to the weapon types being shown.

I remember how powerfull were the heavy bolter and jump pack/thunderhammer in multiplayer at the 1st game release, massacred lobbies for days.
