I have friends driving cherry pickers in climate-controlled warehouses making $25 an hour with all the overtime they want and they rarely have to lift anything over around 50lbs. No way I would run around like this for $17 an hour.

How do you look forward to a shift where you have to RUN to get cases?? Not safe and not efficient.
I thought I had it bad as a selector but we get LLOP trucks and don't run either, this is next level hard on the body, damn.

Selection is the worst job I have ever had, I worked at GFS in Shepherdsville KY and it was 10-14 hour days most days and they can’t keep enough help because of the crazy expectations of employees and lack of safety precautions for employees and the hostile work environment. I picked a 120-130 most weeks, and was throwing double the cases with more pick time than guys who were throwing a 140-150. Time is put in by the supervisors, and they were very obvious that the more they liked you, the better you would pick. This is not a job that you want to do for more than a year or two, very hard on your body. It does pay well if you can pick fast though, my average check was about 850-950 a week after taxes.

I didn’t make it longer than 5 months 🙃 they don’t mention how they also only give you one combined break regardless of how long your shift is 🙂 and how you have to keep up with the sorter all night. And how you can’t ever call off, like literally no matter what.
It’s hard work but it pays well, if you’re new and thinking about quitting I recommend trying to stick it out until you get your first paycheck or 2, it’s worth it.

this is my specialty i prefer the cold but i will take the dry invoirment i have over 10 years experience in selecting single and double pallet jacks as well as crown and raymond forklift i am a production specialist and i know that i can be an asset to gordon foods i like selecting it keeps you busy and in shape and the pay is good i can take care of my family on that pay scale i am very encouraged i cant wait to be a part of team i represent safety and quality Brian B Jones

Goddaamn 😂😂😂 this is all the shit they don't tell you before you start the job. I guess it's a good way to make sure you get good workers. And all that running around shit is stupid. They need to set up there picking different. Also Jesus Christ they want you to slave. This is the worst case of slave job I have ever heard.
Really all this running around you can fall and trip on something

Obviously safety isn't a concern to the company. Unfortunately too many employers treat employees like complete sh*t these days.

the lanes are wider than you think it’s not that bad, I’ve tripped once because I wasn’t paying attention, no other issues I’ve worked here for 6 months so far

Phil Bert that isn’t true, you get safety violations and get in trouble if you don’t practice safe work habits. If you just follow the rules and don’t try to take short cuts it’s a pretty safe job, not to mention with incentive you make 20$-25$ an hour some guys make even more, they also have good benefits, so GFS treats people well.

I rather select using a double or triple jacks tbh. At least you get to drive around the whole warehouse and build on a pallet so you’re focused on something. This shit looks boring lol
If you like a place where there’s favoritism and the supervisors act like 18 year olds this is the place to work 😁

I work at a GFS warehouse, will not name the location but its awful. Only the right things are shown in this video, not proper safety habits. Mechanical issues almost every day, barely any workers on Sundays. Shipping has to send help to selection. Down to only a few customers. Customers lost due to being late, or errors, which is all on sales. Too many errors. Leadership doesn't care about anything except for getting the cases out. Incentives not properly engineered which is the reason for all of this. It's in place to make sure routes get out on time. Great company, but horrible, horrible workplace in the Southeast Division. Just put in my resignation.
