I definitely want to see your "how to play" video on this. Even if Corvus Belli has one, it helps to hear things explained in different ways. I enjoy your more conversational breakdown of rules.

Excellent! Wish granted... instant watch. I certainly don't 'need' another game system in my life, but I know Corvus Belli will likely support this for a while, so it's very enticing...

Colorblindness is definitely something they should have looked at. Only thing I can recommend is to mark the edges of the dice with notches on multiple sides that indicate which dice they are.

The accessibility issues are something a good QA team should have caught before going to print.

Having both single Warband members and units in the Warband sounds a little bit strange to me. So it’s kinda in between Mordheim and Age of Sigmar in that respect.

Yes! Or, my patrons will. They get an unboxing, MRB, and long form batrep. For the main chan... Definitely a review and some format of tactics for both teams, not quite sure what yet. And I'm editing a batrep for my other channel... that's not going well though, so who knows

I'm not sure what you mean here about 2 strides not working with the bases? You measure front to back. So you place the 2 stride ruler next to your base and then place the base at the end of the ruler.

Yes the mechanics are nice and simple but the way the widget is cut with an undercut makes it a bit awkward. You can't always lie the entire widget flat, ideally it would be used vertically

I had no idea ehat you were talking about the "Elf Faction"- there are 3 factions with elves, Sÿennan, Hegemony of Embersig and Scions of Yaldabaloth. The lore has a long lost elven empire named 'Gae Assail' - a name from celtic mythology. Not pronounced the way you did.

I mean yeah right there you said it. The old elven empire. Not sure what else I could mean. I was referencing the lore as stated under the syennan lore page on the second sentence

@@GlassHalfDead I am not sure what you are meaning here. Are you saying that they shouldn't use Gae because it sounds like Gay? And in case anyone needs to know where Gae Assail originates from. Gae Assail is the Celtic name of the spear of Lugh from Celtic mythology. It is said to be impossible to overcome which is possibly a reference to how Izaya is considered to be the strongest sigil user.

Are there campaign rules? I like these small Warband/gang games who have great campaign rules (Necromunda, BloodBowl,… have great Campaign rules.). Does this game has campaign rules that evolve your Warband? Apart from that I prefer classic big scale battles with units in formation. Great that Warhammer OldWorld and other games are getting released for this type of war game again.

For me the rules/system are of primary importance. If they aren’t engaging, no amount of fluff will make the game for me.

  • @JimCrimmins

2nd note - they NEED to fix the color blind problem... it's 2024, any modern game should definitely take this into account... a slightly different symbol or hue, anything... I ran into this with a boardgame recently and our friend simply couldn't see some of the different options on the board... he struggled through while the rest of us played, but it certainly was a huge detractor to the overall experience for everyone as we had to help him repeatedly, and it's so easy to avoid. Inexcusable, and good for pointing it out early...

I've had this issue with a few games. I think it is an easy issue for CB to solve in the future but ultimately they will have to do different dice in some form. Which is very frustrating for them and presumably the reason they haven't already done that as they must be aware of it since releasing Adventures into the wild, but the only true option.

I find it interesting that they have a letter on the dice symbols to show you the colour, but not on the dice themselves.

@@TylerProvick I would add, those are VERY small letters on the cards. I get not wanting it on the dice as then what you've rolled can look rather cluttered!

I have played infinity for about 6 years and I have a great love for CB. I really don't like the models on show here. They are too... Video gamey. I have played WoW for around 16 years and it's just too similar in style to that. The dark elves look much better. An amazingly beautiful skirmish game in the fantasy setting is a game called Eldfall Chronicles. Look it up bud 👍

@@GlassHalfDead For me there are several red flags that led me wonder. 1) The obvious the disability issues you mentioned are a clear indicator that this hasn't probably play tested as much as it should have. 2) The .pdf itself looks polished, however the cards are very "noisy" a few iterations more and I am pritty certain that could have been made in a way that there are easier to read. 3) Magic system was just introduced. I don't think that there have been many iterations with this to fit in. 4) Almost no community engagement yet from what I have seen. All this lead me to the assumption that this game will release in a "beta" state at best. This does not mean that this game will not be great in a few years, but I doubt it is for now. Look at game such as ravaged star for example. They have the iterations during game development. There rules are downaloadable and playable for month now and they tweak it all the time. Meaning when the game finally comes out, it already has many iterations and major bugs removed. I don't see here.

@@GlassHalfDead The artwork is, the layout of the pdf also looks fine. But I don't think the the gameplay will be You simply need some iterations in order to get the balacing right, fix bugs and polish the game. I certainly don't think that CB has done enough play testing. Look at ravaged star for example. They host a discord, put at the rules in before the game is realased and constantly tweak the rules during development, with the engagement of a high player base of early adapter. This leaves them with many iterativ changes before it goes to release. CB on the other hand seem not to have done this (I might be wrong though). I base this on the following things: 1) You stated it already in your video "red green blindness". 1 in 10 man have this. Therefore its an very easy catch if your player base would have been large enough in the testing phase 2) Magic was just finished. Meaning even if there is a playbase behind the scene testing, there won't be much of there iterations in the first release since they have to start production soon. 3) The layout might look great, but the cards are very noisy and over complicated. For me this yells for a fewe iterations I could go on. But this leads me with the impression that gameplay will be at most in beta stage and it will need atlease one year until its in a ploished state. This does not mean that the game won't be fun 😊 But it leaves me with waiting a few month and see what people say after the inital hype came down.

@@Jharlax Corvus belli has been using those differnt colour dice system for years. Aristeia! and Defiance uses similar dices, but in D6. Red dice and green dice hace completely different symbols, red is attack and green is defence. In case you didn´t know, Corbus Belli has a big network of beta testers, and I reckon they were looking for them openly. The fact that they don´t make this process openly doesn´t mean that it doesn´t exist The cards are very simmilar to Malifaux, including the triggers and the different "dices" (in malifaux they use a deck of cards), but a normal troop has usually more individual actions, passive habilities, triggers and spells.

@@marcoscarballo5236 Ok I don't know if the fact that they used the dice system for years and did not iterate on it does make it better or worse 🤣 Regarding the play testing that is good to know. Have checked a few reddits could not find anything about it. But as mentioned above was unsure. So thanks for clarification. Regarding the cards I think we just have different view points. Independet if another game system is doing it smiliar or not, for me they are to "noisy". Will still wait half a year after release before considering, but with the information regarding the play test I atleast have more hope for version 1.0 :) So thanks for your post.
