I loved Warbraker. It was my introduction to Sanderson, and I love the characters. Vivenna and Vasher are my favorites, but Suseborn, Siri and Lightsong are also amazing. Besides that, the world and the magic system are amazing. Nightblood is also one of my favorites.

May contain SPOILERS so don't read my comment unless you finished this book.... I really loved this book! I felt that the ending felt kind of rushed though. But once again in typical Sanderson fashion, he is able to create another unique and creative magic system. I hope this is going to be a series because I want to read more about Vi and Vasher's adventures. They were my favorite couple in the book. One of my favorite fantasy tropes though it's used often is the princess falling in love with the mercenary. Anyway one of my favorite standalone books and happy that you enjoyed it.

I loved those characters too! Actually, I really liked most of them 😆 The ending felt slightly rushed, but I think that was in part because we didn’t get a whole lot of wrap up. Everything ended, but there wasn’t much “this is what happened after” type material. Idk, does that make sense? 🤔

Elliot Brooks Haha I get what you mean. The solution to the problem is given at the end but the results aren't given to the reader and Vi and Vasher set off on another adventure. The book could have had a longer epilogue. Other than that little problem, the book was great.

Wow! Elliot you deserve a big 🏆 for summarising a book of that size & caliber lol 😁. I think Brandon Sanderson may be one of your top 5 favorite authors. Warbreaker sure does have a lot going on in. I like that they include some humor in it cuz idk if i could survive a book without at least some humor & action. lightsung sounds like a pretty chill dude lol. Godking sounds like a grumpy savage lol. All in all i enjoyed this & of course you get a 👍. Enjoy your weekend & reading

I am really glad you mentioned the other character some other reviewer I watch didn't mention and said there were 3 main characters instead of 4. Why is everyone afraid of naming him? Is his name THAT spoilery (I don't mean his title, I mean the short 6 letter name he has in the narrative)? Can't ppl say he's a mysterious character who is somehow connected to the other 3 main characters?

Lightsong is such a.... mwah. Love that funky man- especially at the end. genuinely emotionally touching. Super glad this was such a contained novel. Also: Nightblood :) Spoilers: kind of wish the God-King and Ciri didn't end up in a relationship. Dude literally didn't even know what sex was until he was in the process of having it - with Seri. I feel like they're dynamic would've been the same with just a friendship. I could never get behind the relationship

I know Elliot will cover this in a video, but I'll answer anyway. If you read it in a certain order, there will be cool easter eggs and stuff that you can notice, but that's not really a big deal. The only thing I'd say is I probably wouldn't start with Stormlight Archive. Stormlight is pretty much Brandons masterpiece, his magnum opus. It's much bigger, more detailed and slower paced than than his other books. His best work according to most(me included, though I havn't read everything). It's what you want to get to eventually. However, it can be daunting to get into Stormlight because it's 10 books, far from finished, every book is ~1200 pages and the first book book is pretty slow during the first ~800 pages. If you read something like Mistborn first, which is an easier read, you will learn to trust that Brandon will give you a huge payoff in the end. Without that trust, you might give up when it's going slow. Also, if you've read Stormlight, which is so incredibly big and ambitious, you might be disappointed in some of his other stuff. Now you don't have to read every other novel before Stormlight, but start with something like Mistborn to get a feel for Sanderson and if you like it, you'll love Stormlight. Hope this helps! :)

  • @ariellewis9378

My personal preference for cosmere order (although it does not really matter) is Mistborn series 1 (aka Vinn’s story), then Warbreaker, then I would read stormlight archive... I think you could also read Elantris before stormlight but it is really what ever you want to do. If you search this on the internet there are a lot of different orders and different opinions on it.

I just read this and I thought it was his worst, but the review is well done regardless

I'm only 9 chapters in, but I can't help but be reminded of Catherine the Great, famous Russian Tsar. Born Princess Sophia of Anhalt-Zerbst, she was a German princess sent to marry Peter III partly to smooth relations between Prussia and Russia and to provide Peter with an heir. Having said all that, so far I'm not a fan. The story seems rushed, there's a lot of telling instead of showing, and the characters don't seem that "real" to me.

Hated this book after reading The Reckoner series and I had problems with that too. This book was painfully slow. I felt like I would read 3 hours and got nothing of value plot wise. It was harder to read than Sharp Objects and that's saying something. 2/5

I got on the Brandon Sanderson Hype train and have enjoyed all his books but absolutely loved Warbreaker, it's my favorite book of his. (@CinnieRose)

The ending (epilogue) felt very rushed to me. And Lightsong's arc left me baffled. Didn't like how he ended up.

Not as popular because it's a standalone. When it comes to fantasy, people look for nice fat series. Sanderson's standalone pieces are never as popular (Elantris, Emperor's, this). Good review.

I’m 400 pages into “Mistborn.” I honestly don’t get the hype - the writing is atrocious and the characters are bland.

I thought the first Mistborn was pretty good, but as an entire trilogy I loved it. Each book gets better as it goes. Saying the writing is atrocious doesn’t seem to be BYU’s opinion as they have him as a writing professor there. But to each their own :)

Lexi L. I plan on finishing the book. The writing just seems very childish to me - especially after you read someone like Patrick Rothfuss.

That’s funny, I think Rothfuss’s writing is overly wordy and too flowery (for me). I prefer a more direct writing style. I think it’s just a difference of opinion and taste though :)

I wasn’t able to finish it due to the prose, the very bad “wit”, and Sanderson telling, not showing everything. He has great imagination though, but one could easily tell that he writes very fast and doesn’t take his time to develop great prose and wit.
