There is never a situation where a captain of a ship would be given command of an entire fleet. First, every military ship is assigned to a fleet when it enters service and remains assigned to one even if it operates solo. Each fleet will have its own command staff that a ships captain would be subordinate to. A ships captain would not have the experience or authority to command even an outlying sector, that would be an Admiral and no captain would have the training to take that position and no Central Command would ever assign someone below that rank to that position.

@@engcenturion2.093 Not really. Science fiction is at least partially base on reality. This would be considered fantasy because in no time in our future would any of the characters be given their roles. Its obvious that either the author either has no understanding of the roles of diplomat and military or its written by an AI that wouldn't know anything about it.

@@adambynum4524 It could be a million years in the future and that wouldnt change the fact that no ship commander would have the experience or training to control a fleet, not have the training or knowledge of diplomacy. at best they would be a military liaison who follows the orders and policies of a trained diplomat.

Some of these stories are quite good, others reminds me of when I worked as a orderly in a mental institution in the early nineties. One of the patients where a pretty good writer, however when he became psychotic, the things he wrote where just an endless loop. The sad thing is that I meet him last christmas in a shopping mall. He was sitting on a bench so I sat next to him and asked if he remembered me. He was so drugged up, he was practically a zombie. That kind of ruined my christmas...

Do you know what a story is? The unadulterated expression if a perspective. This is a post conflict report.

His Harper guy is the biggest Mary Sue ever. Sorry, very linear story, everything is easy from the get go, the enemy are idiots, everybody in awe about the good guys. No conflict, no of interest. Thanks for the story, honest critic is just intended t help you improve.
