Congratulations on the video, you did a great job of giving a detailed and accurate overview of the game, in spite of its complexity, in such a short amount of time! And thanks for the appreciation of course. A very minor rule mistake was noticed by one of the designers: in sieges, you do not need to reduce two Elites to continue to attack, just one.

Wow, this one was a beast and I ended up having to snip a little out here and there to get it under time. Game is second edition, but I used my first edition models. This one was picked by Fraser, who is the person I have played WOTR against 20 times. Who do you have long standing game rivalries with?

  • @CapriciousMissK

I'm no longer part of this rivalry because I moved away, but for years I was part of a group that would regularly play the old Mayfair crayon train games - Empire Builder, Eurorails, British Rails, etc. We had a large number of people in our gaming circle and would usually play other things, and some people didn't like the rail games, but whenever we got a group of just the rail players that's what we'd play.

I just checked your channel out. Very polished and professional looking. Nicely lit and shot as well. You should do very well as people discover your content. My only thing is what's a quackalope? I'm not sure if the name or brand draws me into the idea of board games. Might help with search-ability long term, but short term it's going to cause some confusion.

@@3MBG Hey! Thank you for stopping by and taking a look :) - I am moving into a new studio space next month so the quality / production should take another step up soon! I think the question of what is a Quackalope is a fair one :) - the decision was made around finding a unknown name / brand that can be defined or grown through some hard work and time - VS jumping on a name that was a little more direct to the topic but did not stand out as much or already had a definition attached to it like "allofline" - I came up with and enjoyed Quackalope a lot - In the south (USA) a Jackalope is a well known mythological creature so it has a bit of a connection there. Overall - I think its fun and I am down for the work it will take to make it recognizable! Your videos are great :) Keep up the work and thank you for the honest feedback!

  • @3MBG

I figured the quackalope thing would be something like that. I think long term, its not a bad idea having a unique name. And, well, there are many many channels called the "x" meeple, and they can blur for me. So being different isn't a bad thing at all. In a way, a name like that is a long term investment. It will pay off once your brand is out there, it will just take a while to see the benefits. Slickerdrips, for example, does pretty well and that has nothing to do with board games as far as i can tell. As for your content. You are already ahead of 90 percent of people out there in terms of the technical aspects. Another step up would be pretty damned impressive. I just love seeing any content that isn't just a steady cam on a dude at a desk in front of games talking unscripted for 15 mins. Your use of cutaways, and their composition shows a lot of care and thought. Little touches like showing the druid games logo on the board in one video, just show you are thinking about the content and how it will look. I really appreciate that. Having the game in front of you so you can interact with it during the talking segments is good as well, as it gives you something to do with your hands. Plus, in my mind at least, the game should always be the real star of the video. Like an interview show, but your interviewing the game :) Multiple camera angles as well. The top down one in particular is sharp. I'm gonna go find you on twitter now :)

I love the theme in Rebellion but I had to sell it in favor of keeping War of the Ring. I think it suffers from that fiddly planning phase, and the needlessly complicated combat system (by comparison). They were trying to make it stand out, I get it. But WotR plays much smoother and it's mechanically immensely more enjoyable. No need to peek under the mission cards, or to constantly look over your hand of probe cards. In fact I'm amazed that FFG didn't include a stack of marking sheets for the Empire player. Weren't they bothered during playtesting? Ah, FFG just isn't what they used to be. But at least TI4 plays better than the previous edition. I'm grateful for that.

I really don't understand the hair icons representing difficulty, it just seems confusing, I mean it's all subject to interpretation, can't any hairstyle be difficult? What if you used length of hair instead, like short hair being easy, long hair meaning difficult and so forth, it's just more cohesive that way. Or maybe brain looking icons of varying size.

Everyone may prefer games to their liking. In WotR every single unit and decission matters and may impact the final outcome. Rebellion for me is simply not that engaging emotionally, as you pop out your heroes on the map. I'm not a fan of either of the universe (Tolkien or Star Wars), however, after playing WotR i did buy the Lord of the Rings book and read it with great satisfaction (which now makes me like the game even more), while rebellion did not spark anything similar after playing...
