“We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today.” - WAR
WAR, the original street band, was founded by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon in 1969. Together with the original band members Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller, they blended many musical styles and influences. The musical laboratory that is WAR yielded 17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including the triple platinum ‘The World Is A Ghetto’ and double platinum ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ and ‘Greatest Hits’, and hit songs "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", and "The Cisco Kid".
WAR began playing live shows to sold-out audiences in the 1970s and continues their commitment to being road WARriors, touring over 150 dates a year to this day.

War is one of the Greatest R&B groups of all time during the 1970's. One of my most favorite songs were "Cisco Kid" "Why Can We Be Friends" and "All Day." were my favorite songs growing up as a kid. I think that War deserves to be inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Their music will live on for future generations to enjoy. 🎵 🎵 ❤️

@@terywetherlow7970 , Denise f i e l d s hi and happy Easter to you I don't know where you are if it's morning afternoon or evening but I do hope you have a lovely day I did receive your comment you came in under the group war and your question to me was why aren't they in the Hof. Well to answer that particular question would take a conversation for us because a lot of people thought that they should have been however I do believe that there was this probably a lot of controversy around the name itself war however in 2024 they were placed in the Rock Hall projected and the only original member that still with war is Lonnie who is the keyboard player all of the other people are not the original group of men from the original group war. The group war came out in 1969 and they actually Rose the same during the '70s and they said that their mission was to spread brotherhood and harmony I think that the music that they put together with completely phenomenal and even though there will always be that controversial stigma if you might say about them not being in the Hall of Fame it's really sad because they were such a great group. So other than the group war is there someone else that you enjoy listening to because I was going to say if you happen to have the name of the song and the name of the artist I would be more than happy to play something for you since this is the end of Easter Sunday. I would like to thank you so very much for being a listener to the station and anytime you have a comment please feel free to contact me and I'll be more than happy to contact you back like I'm doing so now so . And it really is so very sad because they were so good beautiful music but they just had the wrong title name the wrong time because war is going on and then you come out with the group other name of war and thousands of people are being killed. Wrong name given to them at that time I don't know what their PR people were thinking about at the time but they're the ones that in my opinion messed it up for these young men that eventually turned into men and work their butts off. I see that you came in under a war greatest hits and I'm so very glad that you really enjoyed the music so you grew up with this type of music that's fantastic. With me personally I didn't really know about war when I was younger it wasn't until that was more into my teen years on two friends and relatives that's when I learn more about them and I was really very pleased with their music. Yes it is a very awful situation about the war that's going on between Russia and Ukraine it's really sad because I was really hoping there would be no more s at least for a while but unfortunately this is what's going on. So you happen to be from Boston Massachusetts and I have been there before and I can get cold. Well I would like to thank you so very much for being a listener the station and anytime until I come in please feel free to do so because when we receive coming from listening it lets us know if we're doing our job properly and from all the comments that we do receive it looks like we're doing very well I must say from me now please take care of yourself and again I do thank you for very much. 🎉💦🔥😃🌟

War one of The greatest band with an extensive musical history. Why they're not in the R&R Hall of Fame is beyond comprehension along with a lot of other deserving musicians and entertainers!!

“🎶”Me and Baby Brother”🎶 gets me moving like no other, I have to dance to it. What a fantastic BAND!! 👌❤️
Love every song on this album. Lonnie's dynamic lead vocals and Lee Oskar's harmonica standouts are too much. Early 70's music too much.
Love War!! Saw them many times in concert--Still listening in 2022🥰

We won't believe what I have in my hands I have a comment a comment that you sent in under war war greatest hits. And in your comments I believe that you said that you meant to a couple of their concerts fantastic I know that that was very enjoyable, on that I wish I could have been with you LOL smile 😃🌈😁🎶🔥🎉🎉🎉💯👍👍👍💅💅💅🐈, and it's wonderful to know that you're still listening to them in 2022 after all or October before we know it we'll be looking at 2023. So it's nice to know that you have been a long time fan of this particular group because they really have been through a lot of changes making good music every time they mean submitted for the atof music they will never chosen which is really very unfortunate. Are you aware that all the original embracing the truth have mail pass down except for one, and his belly died then Long Beach California and he's still playing music with different groups so he's living life .I would like to thank you for very much for picking me time to send them this wonderful comments and if there's something there that you'd like to comment on that I said it feel free to and you know we play music 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and we also have live chat, I don't know if this would be something that interests you however I just wanted you to know. 😂 I played my big bro Jimmy’s albums in the late 60s and early 70s! When he wasn’t home 😂 he had excellent taste in music, and I learned a lot from him. A few years later I guided Jimmy toward the blues; when he retired from firefighting after 30 years, he learned how to blow a bad ass blues harmonica. With love and respect to one of the best harp players ever, ♥️ the incomparable Mr. Lee Oskar ♥️🌷♥️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️🌷♥️

War was a one a kind, they were one of my favorite groups of the 1970's .🎶 music was prolific in artistry. Their music brings such great memories of growing up as a kid. War was ahead of their time. They sung songs that brought people together. Their music will live on in our hearts and for future generations to enjoy!!! 🎶 🎶 🎵 🎶

@@bobsarfatty4673 come Denise f i e l d s hi Bob how are you today I hope all is going well and I just received your comment and I remember that you came in under war the greatest hits and yes I did receive your comment as well. So you seem to know an awful lot about this beautiful group and their songs and I'm so glad that you're enjoying and you said that you started enjoying them even more so when they let the singer who sung with the animals go and brought in a new singer. And you stated the same thing that I stated your best song was in the ghetto beautiful song. Were you aware that this gentleman the thing that go from war along with the group The animals were inducted into the Hall of Fame. That was a shocker to me the animals are you familiar with any of their music and if so what did you think about them they were like another British group that came over here and appeared on The Ed Sullivan show way back in the day when everybody who was somebody was appearing on this variety show to showcase their talent. His nameEric Burton. So he is still alive to this day he's 81 years old and she lives in California and he still making and writing music. However the lead guitar player in the group The animals passed away at 77 years old and 2021. So I really would like to thank you for sending in your comment the very interesting and I hope that I will hear from you again and I will be more than happy to respond. Have a great day and I'd like to thank you so much for being a listener to the station thanks so much again. 💅🌈💯💔💦😎
