"The Schindlers List of ape movies" That is too damn perfect there James

Oh Thank You
"If you took Jesus, made him into an ape, and put him into a Nazi concentration camp." Closer to Moses than Jesus.
Seen the movie 2 hours ago and now I'm certain, in my heart this trilogy stands shoulder to shoulder with The Lord of The Rings.

Me too man but what will happen is that I'll forget about it, then in ten years, my buddy or whoever will say "wanna watch a movie?".
It's more of a Moses story than a Jesus one, but it was great none the less.

Garrick Groover Thanks. I am now hyped more than ever.
Just saw it today! Easily my favorite reboot series in existence. I LOVED how this film was 100% from the Apes perspective. Rise was mostly about the humans experimenting. Dawn was a split 50/50 on perspectives of both Humans and Apes. War however showed everything from the apes side of the story. These are sequels done perfectly.
Higher than master, yes indeed. Grand master.
Just left the theater. I've never hated fictional humans more. Awesome flick.
"It's nice to be entertained. But even better when you actually feel something." This "blockbuster" movie is bleak, dark, unconventional, and emotionally resonant. It made me think and feel about everything in this movie. I highly recommend it to viewers who want more than to just be entertained. 9.8/10
Caesar pretty much pulled a Logan at the end, if anyone has seen that movie. So many feels..

Oscar B Your comment doesn't make any sense if you ended up clicking a movie review..
This movie was totally bananas.
YOU are a master at communicating ideas!! I know people say this to you all the time, but I can listen to you speak for an eternity! Such perfect harmony and variation of rythm and sound, and NEVER a redundant word!
I feel like most of the people that throw shit to the movie are guys who wanted: a) Every vietnam movie with apes b)The battle scene from Dawn 2 hours extended I mean, they give them a pretty good story but if not typical war= shit. Im glad the general consensus about the movie is that it fucking rules.
James is really solid in movie analysis. Not always, but man, when he is spot on its all for the right reasons.
I connected Cesar more to Moses then to Jesus, especially at the end when the avalanche buries the human army like the Pharaoh and his army being drowned in the Red Sea
Caesar is one of the greatest super heroes in modern cinema.
I think it shows how true fans are shaping movies today. Us scifi video game comic nerds dont accept when a movie is bad and heavily scrutinize them, probably more than most. These reviews are going to keep them honest. Thank you cinemassacre. Now if someone would pry Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles out of Michael Bay's hands, that would be great.
That scene where Caesar found out.... one of the most emotional things I've seen,
Nice to hear that the messages of the movie are told to us via non-verbal communication. I feel that if that's done right it helps the message stick with the audience much more.
Epic action film with a strong emotional core to the story that genuinely moved me. A lot of love has gone into this entire trilogy and Matt Reeves has created something truly special here.
I've been looking forward to Fridays lately to see your movie reviews, I'm really digging how you're putting more cinema into cinemassacre lately! Thanks!
I just got out of the theater and it is fucking amazing. This has to be one of the Top 3 Sci-Fi trilogies of all-time. Every damn one of these films were great. Go see it.
Your joy in this review makes me happy. I definitely want to see all three now!!
from the looks of it I think this movie might be like mad max fury road in which it's not an Oscar bait movie but will still get a shit ton of nods.

Flawless science-fiction film trilogy. "Leave it on a high note" couldn't agree more! Let the future film cultists sort it out 💯

We're very excited to see this film, and watching this review has only made us more excited. Keep up the review videos man!
Thanks for the quick review. Really excited to see this over the weekend.
I love how in this review you managed to say so much about what the movie without spoiling NOTHING about the plot. That's what comes when Cinema is an emotional experience. I'm very much looking foward to seeing this now James, thank you very much.
Just saw it, and it was awesome. So intense! So emotional! I've never seen the classic movies, but I know a little about them and they've sold me on a 4th movie that shows us the future and remakes the original story, to bring it all full circle.
Thank you for the review James. It actually looked very good from the trailer! It's very rare for a sequel and series to actually meet standards--let alone exceed them. But wow your words on it are amazingly positive which is pretty rare. I'm definitely going to see it!
@Cinemassacre im so surprised you guys havent done a james and mike mondays on the NEW Friday The 13th Game yet!
Wow! I'm excited to go see this now!
I will for the rest of my life appreciate and listen to your opinions on movies/tv. you know exactly what you are talking about and I love it.
Excellent review, James. Cannot wait to see this tonight.
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed the movie.
I agree with everything you said, except, I'm ready for the next one!Maybe because I grew up watching, and loving, the original series, but for me, there is more to the story. As you stated, the movie draws you in. The theater was full of ooh and awes and laughter...and even dead silence! Beautifully done movie, imho. Would watch over and over.

Kristoph S he really is. or the prequels.
the part where he was talking about physical reaction got me most of the movie i felt a sort of pinch on my heart from the emotion both humans and apes showed.
Loved it! Was so bummed though at the end when the good humans coming to fight the bad ones all got killed by the avalanche. Really impactful.
This film was fucking amazing.
Such a fantastic series and being a reboot gives me hope for cinema. Absolutely fantastic! War was pure brilliance.

Jesse Rangel The only "war" was between Colonel's army and the other army that got screwed by the avalanche
Only negative is the title of the movie. "War" is kinda misleading. It's more of a drama than action film. So people are probably walking in expecting non stop ape warfare.

I love your film reviews James. Always have. Keep it up please!
Though I'm still not used to you cussing up a storm as the AVGN, I dig your calmer movie reviews, LOL
The end had a tear 😢 after trying not to tear up 3x before the end
Just based on the screen shot for the video says it all. Thanks James. Your a good man. Quality human. I wish you well and hope the best for you. This review is great. But only thing I will say is you put a lot of emphasis on the emotion you felt while watching it. Art is supposed to make you feel emotions you normally wouldn't have. That's what good movies/art does. That's why it exists outside of entertainment. Especially dramas. Which is what this series really is. It's a drama that's based in a universe we all love and enjoy. Win win I guess.
Matt Reeves is continuously proving how incredible of a director he is. I can't wait to see his upcoming Batman film.
critics have said it, Cinemassacre confirms it. you have to stop watching this, go to the movies and watch this movie! *That's an order!!!* or you know whatever

Probably one of my favorite movies
It doesn't come out for another 2 weeks in Australia :( Can't wait to see it!
Just saw it today. Great Movie. The middle gets kind of slow. The villain was really good he reminded me a little bit of Cyrus from Con Air. I think it would have been a little better if you saw him interacting a little bit more with his men and seen him killing his men or ordering their death.
Moris was my favorite character
Excellent. I would love to see a Lawgiver trilogy with this quality.
A reboot (sort of) series that lives up to the originals and continues to do so 3 movies in? That has got to be some sort of world record.
now I gotta see this movie, didn know it was out yet.love pota and the last two were great.great review james thanks!
Is anyone else picturing james walking out of the theater smiling with his 3D glasses still on?
This was the best, a ten out of ten from me. Great easter eggs and it was an emotional ride I think. The best telling if the franchise.
Planning on seeing it this weekend
one of the only channels that is still as good as when it started 👍
DeRay Mckesson was my favorite actor in the movie
not only the best in this trilogy which is unheard of in trilogy but the film is one of the best films i've seen in a long long time full stop.
I'm excited to see the movie tomorrow and also to see if they do anything with the lost space shuttle from rise
I'm very happy I got to see this 2 days early! Great film, Great trilogy!
That movie alone convined me to watch the original ape saga I never seen before. Now, am gonna watch the final part from 1973 soon!

Such an amazing movie! Cesar is one of my favorite characters ever in any film
Hey, thanks for not spoiling the movie, and making me want to see it!
Totally agree James, saw it last night and adored it. Amazing series.
Awesome can't wait to watch it.
Awesome series of films, indeed very unique and very cool.
Cesars face in your back drop is reminiscent of jack Nicholus in the Shining
Can't wait to see it! I'm a huge POTA fan so I'm excited based on your review.
As far as it being up there with the original. I saw the original a few times as a kid, but I have to say, I was way more emotionally invested in these movies. Maybe I need to rewatch the original but, man Andy Serkis is a god.
Interesting will go check it myself!
I agree that they nailed the CG, except there was on shot that pulled me out. When Caesar was tied up and got splashed with water, something about the way he looked dropping wet, for a split second I was like "this looks like a video game cutscene," and then "oh well, been a good ride." That's one small nitpick, though, because this was a fucking amazing film. I kind of hope they leave it at this, but if they try for a fourth I'll give it a shot. Much like your experience leaving the glasses on, I sat through most of the movie having to piss like crazy but couldn't bring myself to leave. Unfortunately that made it harder to appreciate the ending, but hey. I only saw it in 2D, though. I don't really bother with 3D much these days. Not out of principle, it just rarely seems like it would be worth the money. I definitely plan on seeing this again, though. would you recommend seeing it in 3D, particularly, or can I save another $3?
2:36 - That is so spot on.
I remember hearing a while ago that they planeed to make more movies, around five I believe. I don't know though, it could be another Mandella effect. Either way, really hyped to see this film.
They said they wanted to continue making these films, so im hyped
I just gota say I love Maurice! He is my favourite. He is like the voice of reason.
I only have one complaint about the film. The advertising for it was severely false. Trailers, posters, and even descriptions for the film on some websites made the it look like it was going to be about the Apes and Humans being caught in constant battle, eventually leading to a final confrontation that decides the fate of both species. But the only time in the movie where we got a legitimate fight between the Apes and Humans was the very beginning. The rest of the movie dealt with the Apes being enslaved, and then running away at the very end while the humans killed each other. I feel like Dawn had more War than War did honestly. Having said that I still LOVE this fucking movie and this is one of the greatest trilogies ever made.
The movie was simply amazing and left me wanting more. I'm really excited about what probably will come next. The movie is really an anomaly in Hollywood! A reboot trilogy that's not about dumb action and with the best CGI ever.
Love your reviews
The Wallburg movie is part of the series he leaves on a spaceship in the one with james franco.
I saw this yesterday and I loved it. 10/10 would recommend. and I agree with everything you said. except for the 3d part. I watched it in standard d
WOO-HOO! I'll be seeing it Sunday and am stoked cuz I don't go to theaters hardly ever; like literally years ago.

I personally want to see more Apes movies as long as they remain as good quality as these three have been. We get the introduction of Nova and also Cornelius so the opportunity to tell another Apes movie akin to the original but not be a straight up remake is there.
another great review dude
My favorite part of this video is how the new youtube previews show an animated thumbnail and James is reviewing from the opposite side.
Andy Serkis should get an oscar for his performance. It was astounding. oh btw Nerd can you do a review of Pacific Rim since the sequel is coming out soon. Thank you.
This has been a good year for movies so far.
Fitting analogy, since the director of this film said this was the movie that had to turn Caesar into Ape Moses.
