WAR Corsair New 4K camera test, tail up.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Trying out my new 4K Action camera. This video was recorded at 2.7K, 30 FPS. I think that 1080 @ 30 FPS would have looked better. Need a faster memory micro card. This one is a V10, need to test a V30. Anything faster than 30 FPS needs a faster recording memory card. But I did get the tail up at time stamp @ 2:54 minute mark only a few seconds.

Hi Don great looking plane, your hard work paid off. As a long time tail wheel and career airline pilot I was taught to line up on the runway centreline and maintain it on take off and landing and make early corrections to get back on if you drifted off of it until your down to taxi speed. If you practice this basic technique it will save you any runway excursions especially on slippery surfaces. If you are on the centre line you have some room to correct for any deviation. This is the best advice I can pass on to you to keep you safe. I have had a lot of experience operating off of icy runways in northern Canada and it worked for me. I wish you all the best with your Corsair and many hours of blue skys..” 1:09

G'day Dan, Great stuff ; this was the best view yet...! I'm getting a lot of that Low Afternoon Sunlight/Tree-Shadow "Flicker-Vertigo" around here, myself lately. Midwinter Sunset here was 17:08 Local Mean Time on the Solstice, and on the 22nd I arrived home at 17:02...; when it was 5°C...., O.A.T.. I never fully appreciated how very useful it is to wear an Akubra Hat with a Brim which enables a bit of a Head-tilt to put one's Eyeballs in a little patch of Shade - from which to look out at the World, when proceeding Up-Sun. Not like a Full-Face Motorcycle Skid-Lid, At all... Sunglasses don't really help a lot, either ; adding a second layer of Plastic for the Light to be Glare-Refracted off, or bounced from the Dust on both sides of the Glasses' Lenses as well as both sides of the Visor. It makes it quite Challenging when Riding along the edge of the Road, at about half the prevailing surrounding Traffic's Speed - all going into the low Sun..., while looking out to avoid Roadside Dusk-feeding frightened Kangaroos, Wallabies or Deer - which may be Spooked into jumping out in front of my Headlights (when Blinded). I think I'd be tempted to lie down with a Marking-Pen, and blacken the Sidewalls of that overfed Neoprene Rollerblade- Tyre doing duty as the Tailwheel - purely for the Look Of the thing (!). Mayhap I be Prejudiced, but where I growed hup ; All Tailwheel's was Black, every single solitary one of them... So that there Orange Doughnut on the Tailwheel's Hub Just(ifiably ?) Doesn't quite Look right ; Not unto Moi, Not Any no how... (Except, that...; it WORKS....!) (lol !). Such is life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !

You're doing great...keep doing incremental advances in your tests, and soon you will be airborne on your maiden flight. The FAA has an excellent downloadable Experimental Test flight manual that will be hugely helpful from this phase moving forward. Also...PLEASE read and read again & again, the book; 'Stick and Rudder'!...before you ever take off in your new bird. It just may the save your life.🤔 Wow.. 60 mph and the tail not full up yet? Im curious about your established AOA setting on the horizontal stab when built it? Also 'empty weight' and current 'gross weight' during this test run? My Sonarai II gets her tail up at 40-45 mph IAS...but Im sure its much lighter than your bird. Keep going and do it ALL "by the numbers". I'm drooling to see you get her up and back down safely. Keep dancing on those pedals!👍🙂

@@Dynodon64With your elevator in the neutral position that it was , you’d better be careful at those speeds . At 60 mph , it’s got to be close to flying speed and the last thing you need is for it to try to become airborne that slow. It’s a very bad spot to put yourself in. Just a recommendation, but I’d push forward stick to increase the tail height and in turn decreasing your wing AOA to prevent a surprise first flight. A DC-3 is no different in that aspect. With the tail low , it’ll try to fly before it’s ready.

Don, in this video, I noticed that the axel on your Left wheel Moved quite a bit back when you started your turn onto the runway. Is this movement normal Flexibility in the strut & retract actuator or something to check out? Watch the video and concentrate on the Left leading edge and axel view.

Turning requires the use of that wheels brake, so you are loading that landing gear. It's normal as long as it is not excessive.

@@Dynodon64 as long as the torque of the engine/prop isn’t a big issue and the airfoil profile on the wings is stable in all aspects then it should be a sound bird to fly I suppose.
