WAPITI/ELK HUNT 10 day solo gear list/deer meat hunt/CZ 600 ERGO/RAB LATOK SUMMIT EP5 S2

What's in my pack for a 10 day solo Wapiti/Elk hunt in Fiordland. NZ Hunting really is not easy and has taken many lives. Being prepared and knowing your gear is everything.
I've got the new CZ 600 ERGO this one is is 300 win mag and I can't wait to try it out.
Also new is the RAB LATOK SUMMIT tent, the ultimate high alpine tent.
This episode dose have hunting but impact shot is not shown nor is the butchery so if you are just into hiking/tramping/climbing/outdoors or just back country fishing the this episode should still be for you.

    As a newbie to your channel, I am convinced that you know your subject well, be it hunting, stalking, survival etc, It’s a real pleasure to listen to your dialogue with the understanding of your knowledge coming through. As a Christchurch boy ‘trapped’ in Oz, I really appreciate the way your presenting NZ, the way that it should be, no BS, just matter of fact information based on the sheer joy and exuberance of being in the wild places. Thanks for sharing your expertise and experience with us Justin, it’s obvious that you’re right into everything that you do and that alone brings me great pleasure as one who experienced all this many years ago. I’m converted bro. Happy trails. Mark

    Just came across this. You still likeing that tent? I have a simialr tent by intergal designs a company that was purchcased by RAB a number of years ago. I love it for ski touring but find it struggles with condensation in above zero temps. Definitely an excellent alpine tent with its abilty to pitch from inside in high winds and bad weather.

  • @JUSTWILDNZ

    @JUSTWILDNZ

    6 ай бұрын

    Hey mate, this tent blows my mind and 10 days in fiordland I expected more condensation for a single wall tent. I do wish it had a touch more head room and the vent was off to the side. The most condensation came from the vent which drips on my face. Did put a tarp over it as well.

    That's so cool you have a Rab tent. That little Siltrap Plus Solo was epic, next time I'll take the Siltrap Duo Plus but will push the weight up. The Rab Summit feels more like a rain jacket shaped like a tent? than a tent to keep the rain out....if that makes sense?

    Awesome video brother. I’m doing a serious overhaul of my camping gear and it’s costing me thousands…but to me totally worth it. Will probably get the Rab Latok mountain 2 tent or the summit you used here. Both are designed for and used on Everest, K2 etc. Not planning on doing any 8000m peaks but after years of wasted time I want bomb proof gear that can take punishment. Cheers…

    Awesome video. I was weighing items the other day and noticed a 100g gas cylinder has gross Weight around 200g - do you think its best to have miltiple small 100g or fewer larger given the packaging weight and size? I also just used the msr cylinder and it seemed way faster than Jetboil can - have you experienced that?

  • @JUSTWILDNZ

    @JUSTWILDNZ

    Hey brother, must admit I just took the weight for granted as stated on the canister. I haven't found much difference between msr or Jetboil but in the negative temperatures is where it would matter. I find the smaller canister seem to burn better when low but I need to do an episode comparing 2 small vs 1 big cook time. Dude I love it thank you for the idea.

    how was the condensation in fjordland, in a single layer tent?

  • @JUSTWILDNZ

    @JUSTWILDNZ

    Жыл бұрын

    The first few days it was next to zero, just a little bit on the poles. When everything started to get "Fiordland" wet then it started to build but way less than I expected. The best way I describe this tent is it's more like a mega high-end rain jacket shaped like a tent. Fiordland is the last place on earth this tent was designed for, it's more a high altitude extreme tent in colder but drier conditions....but it totally kick ass in Fiordland. Solo missions in storms can be so so hard to try and get that fly up over the tent. I lOVE THIS TENT. If ya thinking about getting one, get a hold of me before you do and I'll go over it in a bit more detail.
